- I've been in quite a solemn mood today generally. The usual remedies have all failed.
- Might be out of work in a few months due to the pandemic.
- I think I have some kind of gum infection and worried about the availability of treatment.

Did I? I say so many stupid things I might very well have.

- I showed up at the grand opening of the first Vancouver bitcoin machine in 2013 and thought I put in 50 bucks. I forgot all about that account until last year, and I apparently only put in 5 cents I made like 45 dollars

Now that sucks.

- A buzzard paid us a visit and gave us quite a scare. We have chickens, some of them are still in the juvenile stage. We got worried it might swoop down and take one of the chicks or the black silkie. But in the elephant fashion, the larger chickens (Brahma, Dutch Blue, Bielevelders) surrounded the cluck as a means to protect them. After a minute or two, the buzzard flew to the woods.

Don’t they already check id for people buying alcohol? Why are the gates necessary? As if buying tons of hand sanitizer and toilet roll paper during a pandemic is a “normal idea” either!

What's the point if they'll let you buy it in the end? Not that they shouldn't, the lockdown is already annoying enough so let us have booze for God's sake.

There's probably a reason for it. With the pandemic, purchases of alcoholic drinks is banned to avoid suspicions of people hosting illegal parties and raves or drunk driving. As here in Holland, purchasing beer or wine after 10PM can get you fined. It's outright banned in some provinces. Same with fireworks. It's a national tradition to shoot fireworks on the week of New Year's Eve. And, with the pandemic still being a thing, only carbidschieten (Dutch cannon ball launching) is still allowed.

Or, it could also be that there's a religious holiday coming up. In spirit of the holiday, alcohol is bad and you shouldn't buy it until the day passes.
I could be wrong, just guessing. Feel free to correct me.

Sanitizers, alcoholic beverages... alcohol. I recall a similar situation in our supermarkets during quarantine to limitate the sell of alcohol-based products since some alcoholics can be used as an alternative to sanitize, this because sanitizers and similar products were out of stock in no time. Still, weird to put gates.

Yeah it's kind of pointless really, and it's true that it's already bad enough that the pubs are closed, at least let people have a few drinks in their own homes.
