Re: Rayman 3
Nice concept art on that page! I don't remember seeing some of it before. Now as for the screenshot with the cape, it's new to me as well. Did they forget to take the cape off when taking this promotional screenshot or what?Eeeebray wrote: Sat Apr 17, 2021 4:41 pm Welcome back, Eren.
Not sure, if someone posted this here before but few days ago this was found:
https://paris.ubisoft.com/en/project/ra ... 8291015625
The URLs say these pictures got uploaded in 2020/09 which is really weird.
Besides Rayman wears a cape in that picture, which was found as as texture in the files of the newly discovered R3 E3 prototype.

It's actually pretty old, I got one of those in 2003 when I won a contest on RaymanZone.Eren wrote: Sat Apr 17, 2021 8:50 pm Hey guys! Re: Rayman 3
Like, that doesn't even look like a cape, it just looks like a graphical glitch, such as might be caused by an overheating GPU!
It's interesting to see the purple Lums scattered about the place – judging by the lifebar graphic, I guess they were going to be used for health at one point. I'm glad they came to their senses and used red Lums to be consistent with Rayman 2. (This was obviously long before someone decided to come up with inconsistencies to troll us

Maybe it looks better once animated? It sure looks weird on a screenshot.PluMGMK wrote: Sun Apr 18, 2021 2:50 pm Like, that doesn't even look like a cape, it just looks like a graphical glitch, such as might be caused by an overheating GPU!![]()

Re: Rayman 3
If it weren't for that texture we found in the prototype, I would totally think it's a graphical glitch. It does look pretty awful after all.
Re: Rayman 3
Definitely looks like a glitch, that's unhironically bad
Also damn I didn't know the artbook was actually this known, guess it just went out of the radar for a few years

Re: Rayman 3
Playing the PS2 beta game through again.....can you imagine if we were actually left with the original tester VA (Rand?) instead of Gasman, Leguizamo West etc? How different they made the entire gameplay.?...Quite a neat thing to think about imo ^^

It must be pretty fun to do the shitty voice acting yourself.

Re: Rayman 3
Reminds me of the petition just over a decade ago to get Valve to keep Richard Lord as Wheatley's voice actor in Portal 2 instead of hiring Stephen Merchant
Re: Rayman 3
Imagine that! I also remember Merchant being interviewed over Wheatley's part where he said (at the time) if someone like Karl Pilkington was asked to voice him he would completely object to it..... then again Wheatley sounds perfect as he is so Im glad of the changePluMGMK wrote: Tue Apr 20, 2021 10:50 pm Reminds me of the petition just over a decade ago to get Valve to keep Richard Lord as Wheatley's voice actor in Portal 2 instead of hiring Stephen Merchant![]()

Re: Rayman 3
I don't think I'd listened to this since the game was released A DECADE AGO… Yeah, it's pretty good for a placeholder, but the delivery was lacking for sure. Plus it didn't get his personality across, which I guess people didn't realize at the time because they didn't know what he really was.
Re: Rayman 3
Interestingly I've been noticing lately and comparing these things with a friend, but there are a lot of random differences between different versions of Rayman 3. For example, have a look at the beginning of the Land of the Livid Dead.
PS2:
Xbox:
GameCube:
Notice how the grass greatly differs between versions, as does the sky, especially on Xbox. To my knowledge, Xbox just looks the same as PC in this case, though I should double check this later.

Re: Rayman 3
This is actually quite noticeable, nice find Steo! Maybe it's due to the console versions of the game making use of each platform's built-in shading/rendering API? I honestly know way too little about console architecture to know for sure.
Re: Rayman 3
I find it kind of confusing really, especially PS2 since the grass is all completely flipped. The grass on GameCube is also animated, unlike the other versions. The placement of the grass varies in each version too, even the two different HD versions vary from each other.

Re: Rayman 3
Thats's quite surprising, do you think there are similar differences in other levels?

Re: Rayman 3
I guess that might at least explain why Xbox and PC are the same, since it's DirectX in both cases. It does seem kinda random though, nice find Steo!Hunchman801 wrote: Tue May 11, 2021 3:29 pm This is actually quite noticeable, nice find Steo! Re: Rayman 3
There are definitely other changes in levels. In this level on GameCube there's one tortoise on the lower level and one on the upper one, where every other version just has three tortoises on the lower level. There are some weird things too like that room in the Fairy Council being blue instead of red on GameCube.
There's a very strange change in Rayman 3 HD also, where a room in the Longest Shortcut has its entire wall moved. I don't know if anyone posted about that here before but it's just interesting since they would've had to change geometry just to move the wall, and I wonder what the purpose was.
Rayman 3 Xbox (Original): Rayman 3 HD Xbox: There are many other small differences like the sky looking completely different between versions and the Xbox version being the most vibrant looking for some reason in terms of lighting. Like this example here:
PS2: Xbox: You can see how Xbox is so colourful in comparison, while all other versions of the game have the same colours aside from Xbox.
I'll have to try compile more differences between them, but there are many subtle ones which kind of show the game wasn't just a simple direct port on each console.

Re: Rayman 3
The difference in colors we can easily attribute to the various rendering engines, but the wall in the Longest Shortcut is a whole different story. No idea what could explain it, really.
Re: Rayman 3
Hey guys just wanted to share some news! Apparently if you have an android phone there is now an n gage emulator which perfectly runs Rayman 3 (hell it shows rayman 3 basically everywhere in the site ahaha) the emulator is EKA2L1 there are tutorials on youtube on how to configure everything!

Re: Rayman 3
I was not aware that there was an N-Gage emulator on the Google Play store. I wonder what are the minimum requirements to run the game properly.
