Well, good luck with that full "Redemption", if you ever get to it!
Thanks! However, if I do make it, I’ll have to come up with another name because calling it "Redemption" would not only be confusing but also be very pretentious, as it’ll still be a ReDesigner project (and so, not a whole fangame like Ryemanni’s work and it would obviously be far from being as ambitious)... and of course, Rayman GBC is such a perfect game that it needs no redemption.
It would be more a big "remix" than anything with some extra levels, additions to the level design, introduction of objects available in ReDesigner, some new twists in the story, fixes and improvements... Some of those things are quite required for some areas... like all that strange useless space at the top of Airy Tunes’ second bonus!
It’s like it’s asking me to do something with it!

I’ve already attempted something with the first level of Spellbound Forest and the results are very good and set a way more powerful atmosphere more fitting for the story, as well as a deeper sense of progress! I’ll probably release an unlisted video of it to show you later on so you can all tell me what you think about it.
So I need to come up with something similar but also different enough for the name... "Rayman GBC Resurrection"? "Rayman 2000 ReColored"? "Rayman GBC Returns"?... And if I also "remake" Rayman 2 Forever, perhaps "Rayman 2 Forever Returns"?... I dunno... Oh, wait! I know!... "Rayman GBC REReDesigned"!
Nah, I really need some ideas here.
Here’s the usual preview for what’s coming next!
Speaking of making extra levels (and so making heavy edits to the graphics), I have to come up with something for Rainy Forest as it turns out that the third level is not large enough to fit ReDesigner, and so you’ll see the game’s background bordering the graphics... Goddamn you Ryemanni for that 480 minimal width limit.

At least the level works as intended so far. The only real issues I have noticed during testing are the weird climbing limits... and this is also when ReDesigner becomes limited as the foreground objects from the original level are just a flat part of the environment now, so you’ll jump "through" some plants sometimes. It was also an issue in a few parts of Spellbound Forest and Airy Tunes, but it wasn’t noticeable...
I must also report that it has come to my attention (thanks to RaymanRedemption who told me my GBC ReDesigned graphics were used in one of their levels) that someone on Rayman Redistributor has been "stealing" content from others. I don’t want to name them (unless other concerned people want to know) as I highly suspect (due to some factors) that they are a very young kid who doesn’t really know what they’re doing, but I want to bring this up as an example of what
you should avoid doing as a ReDesigner creator...
and I’ll also leave a bad Redistributor rating anyway since I’m a sneaky rat. :3
One of their levels not only contains a complete unmodified copy paste of
my ColorFun and DarkLight skin packs (even including the levels and the read.me files), but also the
Spellbound Forest ReDesigned graphics and music,
graphics and music from RaveyDavey1993’s levels, the
original GBC skin made by ShinyRaichu94 (which was moved inside my DarkLight pack for some strange reason) a folder containing apparently
all the sprites shared by raymandesigner here, and
many other things which were taken from else where (including a GBA Rayman skin and some custom graphics I think I’ve already seen in some levels I’ve played...). None of the files have even been renamed, and no one has been credited (besides the few credits I had added myself in the read.me files)! The vast majority of these hundreds of assets (over 730!

) are not even used in the level (hell, of all things, they used the Greyscale graphics when they had all the other versions in the same folder

), which itself is totally unfinished! It’s like they took everything as a tool box, and then still published the draft with all the crayons with it as if it was their own... Uh, that stupid comparison sounded better in my head...
Of course, pretty much nothing we make in Rayman ReDesigner is our intellectual property or anything and many of us use/recreate a lot of official and even sometimes fanmade stuff without consent as well, but at least you can easily have the respect to credit creators for their work like most of us do. I personally don’t really care for GBC ReDesigned as I can’t really consider it my work (as it’s pretty much a slow and weird form of "copy-pasting" an official game with extra steps, in a way

), but I find it unfair for everyone else involved and for the skin/levels packs. I don’t think the author has even asked any authorisation... at least I wasn’t asked anything. I would have gladly approved as long as I would have been properly credited.
So, if you care, and even if it’s not a perfect measure, I advise you to at least add a read.me file crediting yourself in all your creations, especially if they don’t contain a level which carries your name in the file’s name and the game’s intro text. Adding your name to the custom files like backgrounds and music is also a good idea, especially if they are original creations. Even if you didn’t put much effort into a particular project or if it’s "just" a remake, I personally believe your efforts should at least deserve to be remembered.
While I’m at it, I’d like to add that anyone is free to make a remix of any of my GBC ReDesigned levels or to use them as a basis for making your own remakes if you wish. One of the goals of this project is also to have a solid GBC recreation in ReDesigner so anyone can use it to make contents related to the same game and its ports. If you can even do better than me, I’d be happy to see it. Credit and asking authorisation is not required (at the condition that you don't credit yourself as the creator if you don't change or barely change anything, especially the original way I introduced some features),
but very appreciated. If you credit me, simply mention me as "Mortamon Saturn", "Mortamon" or "MortaDolly".
As for the ColorFun and DarkLight packs, you can perfectly get away with only crediting me (and no, copy-pasting my read.me file doesn’t count

), but it’s always better to ask first. For my other contents, always credit and ask for authorisation first. I’m always here, on YouTube (as "Mortamon Y." and "MortaDolly"), Twitter, Facebook, and more, so you can easily find me by simply typing "Mortamon". Don’t be shy... as I’m a more awkward timid person than you no matter what, anyway.

Also it’s better to make sure to properly credit custom content like music or graphics you may take and how they were made to begin with (like the GBC graphics acquired from Ray1Map, and which are obviously Ubisoft’s work). Basically... credit everyone and everything. It’s a better behaviour.
Someone else on Redistributor also made a level named "The Dark Magician’s Revenge" apparently after
I revealed the one I’m working on since last year, but that one is just a coincidence as it’s completely different content besides the similar idea and identical name, and it’s not as if my idea was really creative to begin with. Heh, I’ll just rename my own later on.
