Rayman in the Phantom Show

Oops, I accidentally said "of" instead of "or" and I meant that people are agreeing with each other. Like, someone agreed with someone and someone seconded someone, and there are so many people who have similar tones on the announcement. The topic now is less "Oh my gosh. They announced Rayman" and more lukewarm about it, which is fine, I guess. Also, looking back, we have been a bit off-topic but, yeah. I think it's fine, though.

The dots are taken as an example of rings [It's that phrase in particular I'm not sure about]
Well, that's the only phrase I don't understand either :confus: Is that an X or a ^ before "gli anelli"? :mefiant:

Same thing that confused me! I even tried some things like "a" or an "i" just in case but it doesn’t seem to be that either... Deciphering DavideSolianian hieroglyphs is harder than I thought! :fou:
I guess it would be just as hard to understand if it were in French or English then :hap:

Aren’t you a few years older than me, though?
Umm… :oops2: I must have been thinking of FanBoobs Itooh, the other French text-wall-writer…

Ah yes, the airstrike on the three AGrunts. There's really no way of knowing that's about to happen, is there? :confus: I turned off the HD models on my last couple of playthroughs since everyone keeps yelling about them, but I'm not sure what the fuss is about really…
And I’m such a boomer stuck in the past decades that I still haven’t played Portal 2 to this very day, nor did I even finish the first one! :oops2:
I think now would be a good time for you to rectify that :mefiant:

Oh... and to give some more "sparks of hope", guess what has been found again today, but this time by my family? :proud:

Rayman 4 Statue, Again.jpg

That’s right, he’s still standing there in the very same shop to this very day! But unlike last year, Rayman doesn’t have to worry about warning us of the coronavirus with a sign!
Ah, good old Ray, unchanging as ever! :hap: At least they took down the sign. Most of them are still up here, even though the regulations are basically gone. Just today I went into a place with my colleagues and we realized that we could just "ignore all the yellow stuff" since it was telling us to wear masks etc when nobody actually needs to do that anymore!

It would be just a bit easier since you could actually guess most words rather than asking online translators about what you could make out from a few characters :noel:

Am I really that unoriginal? :hap:
Guess I should actually study up DavideSolianian and start speaking exclusively in that elusive language so I can truly stand out and become "the guy no one can really understand unless you're Davide Soliani"! :noel:

Didn't get any complaint so far personally, but I find it hilarious how many nostlagic HL fans are screaming about it online! I sorta agree that the OG models fit the game's aesthetics better, but that's not that big of a deal IMO... Anyway, I've only used these because I didn't even knew it was a thing in the game's settings, so I'm using the originals now that I've moved on to Opposing Force. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Right away, chief! :oops2:

Still standing strong, after so many difficult years! :proud: :nostalgic:
It's pretty funny to still find some notices on doors or walls for that even today! Guess it's like the Christmas decorations, some just won't take them down, even a season later! :hap:

At least they're a pleasant reminder that this era is behind us - or so we hope. :hap:

I see a lot of people are still confused or even upset what this DLC means for Rayman, which I get, but it's time to set some things straight.

A lot of people think this DLC will just be a glorified cameo, like the one we had in Academy Of Champions: Football (remember that? no worries it was forgettable anyways). But this isn't the case. The DLC in the previous Mario + Rabbids we're separate stories, almost to the point of them feeling like seperate games. If anyone's played the Donkey Kong DLC, you'll know that DK is the (co-)lead there and the stories takes place in their world. This has been the case for the other DLC's and this will be the case for Rayman. So he's definitely not going to be just a playable character.

Next to that, David Soliani has a rich history with Rayman. And with Michel Ancel gone, I think he probably is the best pick to explore new ideas and even a full game later down the line (more on that later). He has such a love for the character and I think with this DLC he is probably testing out the waters.

Lastly the whole Rabbids debacle and Ubisoft changing up it's higher ups. I get that people hate the Rabbids, at the same time people blame the Rabbids for Rayman not being in the spotlight again. I guess it's they're a manifestation of what I'll talk next about, but you can't really blame fictional characters for something they haven't even done (killing the Rayman franchise). Ubisoft for the past 10 to 15 years had not been the company I fell in love with. It's been a downright terrible company with especially Serge Hascoet on the front. I don't want to open that can of worms here, but just google why he is terrible. Serge has also been the one to decide that they're not making any more Rayman games. He has said so in an interview..

Ubisoft has recently announced they are finally shaking up its editorial branch. This branch basically decides what games get made or not and Serge was formerly the head over there. This isn't the case anymore. Most Ubisoft games for the past 10 years have almost had the same design with a lot of similar gameplay elements. But with the new hire, they want to focus more on smaller experiences and not wanting to appeal to everyone. More about it here. I'm still skeptical until I see it, but I think it's a spark of hope (hah) that we'll see some more Rayman again in the future.

Maybe it's not what we want now, but this is definitely a step in the right direction. We still have to wait and see what happens though.

If it's an adventure that actually takes place in Rayman's world, then that's a lot more interesting. I'm still skeptical about how the Glade will be rendered, and how the whole Mario + Rabbids things will fit in there, but I'm eager to find out!

I think the title for this topic is somewhat misleading. Just because Rayman will appear in this game in a DLC adventure doesn't mean that Rayman has come back to being an icon for Ubisoft, that's just a hypothesis. Forgive me for my little gripe, but anyways, time for my own thoughts...

Admittedly, I haven't started playing Kingdom Battle yet but Mario RPGs for some reason have always gotten my attention, and adding a DLC (and Rayman, of all things!) on top of that? Makes me more curious about the game as a Mario fan. As a Rayman fan, I appreciate the effort made to include Rayman in the game and I think it's nice that Rayman has at least been acknowledged in some way. Though, I'm more inclined to side with Saturn's group on this one. I do think that Rayman deserves better and it's kind of ironic that Rayman had to be acknowledged through the Rabbids, given their origins. It's still something anyways and I am curious to see how this DLC plays out, so until we know more I think it's too early for me to make any real assumptions about where Rayman will go from this point.

I know I haven't played Kingdom Battle, but isn't the DK adventure the only DLC adventure in that game? Or am I missing something here?

I have a neutral stance when it come to Rabbids, but it bugs me to see people say that Rabbids kill Rayman, when Ubisoft is the one who created the Rabbids in the first place and it's ultimately up to them to decide whether they want to release a new Rayman game for consoles or not, and for the past (almost 10 years) now, I guess they've chosen to make more prominent Rabbids games instead and shaft Rayman to mobile, deal with it people.

Well the game is almost out there is even ads for it on streaming services very spooky 👻 it comes out on the 20th

Oh definitely, Rayman does deserve better, I do agree with you on that. But with how Ubisoft has treated the franchise for the past 10 years, I do think this is a step up. It's exciting, especially with how it's also a crossover with Mario. But yeah, let's just wait until it actually comes out.

Yeah well it's mostly directed to the people who are also on the Rayman subreddit. The hate the rabbids get there is kind of next-level (almost violent) and they don't seem to care, see or even think that management at Ubisoft is at fault here. But I guess reddit do be reddit.

Well who knows when the first trailer for the the first dlc will come out possibly the game awards 🤔

It's different, but still recognisable. I remember feeling weirded out seeing the new Rayman designs in Rayman 3 and Origins. It's some getting used to. But this poster also confirms that Rayman is front and center in this adventure and not just a plucky side-character or an unlockable. And that makes me excited! Can't wait to see gameplay and what it'll mean for the future of Rayman.

I like this design, I think it's pretty cool (I prefer it than the 3D model of Rayman Origins/Legends version, which was nice but not more)

On this one, we can see the features we know from Rayman 3

Late 2023? We could all be dead by then! :confus: (That's a thing my mother would say, and her mother before her…)

Anyway, he does look better than the Smash trophy!
