Hello Rayman Pirate - Community!

I have a dream,
A dream of recreating/ continuing Rayman M/Arena 2001 - with the Unreal Engine 5 Game Engine, using the Lumen Engine created by LightSpeedZX (https://gamejolt.com/games/raymanlumenengine/747230)
As Ubisoft won't give us what we are waiting for since our childhood, let's try making our own Rayman games already!
We imagine this fangame to be like Rayman M (Arena) 2001, with Battle -and Racemode, also in Online Multiplayer.
The idea is to reverse-engineer the classic mechanics, fixing or adding on in meaningful ways.
We are asking you, the Community, to help with realizing it and give it back to the Community.

Thinking about what CPA did for Ray2Editor, Raymap, OpenspaceEngine reverse-engineered to Rayman 2 in Unity (https://youtu.be/36kQ6KriplU 5.12.2020 by Drolpiraat, Robin and Adsolution), Lumen Engine for Unreal Engine5
We think the next step is to approach Rayman M, because it is acutally laid out for Online Multiplayer and even today has an active playing-discord with hundreds of active members (join https://discord.gg/SejzNe8q)

For an overview, here are the big sectors of development, to give you an anchoring point:
  • Font, Image and Texture extraction ( Already done! Files are available in our infrastructure)
  • Level Extraction (All Rayman M and Rayman 3 levels are available through Unity and we already have all Levels of those games as .FBX files in our infrastructure)
  • Level Editing (Easy but takes time to make well, because also all the UV-Mapping and Ambient Effects will be implemented)
  • Model Editing, Animating(There are no rigged models of Rayman M Characters available, so we welcome every noob in blender)
  • Programming (Medium Rare - Unreal Engine 5 and today's advanced technology (and YouTube) make it easier to control actions but still requires brain, time, effort, and swarm coordination.
  • Sound extraction (Not done yet, but SoundFX are the least important, fairly easy to substitute, can be added at last step)
If we have enough (wo)man-power, maybe we can get some snowball in movement, current count of people involved: 3
I can create 3D-scene in Rhino 6 and export them to Unity to do Particle Systems, VisualFX,...

We will make a new Rayman Game, if UbiSoft does not do it, and they certainly won't make a Rayman M 2 in the next century, so we have time.

This is funny because I thought of a Rayman Arena 2 concept today. I wanted to post about it earlier so here it is. Also, something that could have got me thinking about it is a post from years ago that mentioned the idea of a Rayman M 2 when Rayman 4 hadn't come out yet (well it never did). Sorry, had to say that.
Here it is:
It has level themes from even Rayman 1. It has a Picture City theme where the slippery ink is the a sliding surface like the original and the bouncy erasers and stuff could actually be bouncy. It has a beach more accurate to Rayman 2 style theme like in Whale Bay. Another cool concept is Mosquito battles or races. There could also be stuff inspired by Rayman 3. And the concepts for the og Rayman Arena game had like a Canopy styled theme it looked like and stuff like that is interesting. I also had the idea of swimming is races and that might be weird but I don't know. Maybe it would be like Rayman 3. Also, what if with battle powerups, there were powerups like the Rayman 3 ones.
I wanted to post that today.

Also, a note about what you have: the walls almost look like Tower of the Leptys which is kind of cool whether that was on purpose or not. I think what you have is cool. Also, you don't have to use those ideas. I just wanted to post about them today but the Picture City idea does sound kind of cool to me right now lol. Anyways, your models are better than something I could do. :winkgrin:

Those are some great ideas.
And imagining that a new Rayman Arena would maybe take places after Rayman 3 we could have more characters and Race / Battle - Arenas in those places

About the example 3d enviroment: I actually used the original textures from Rayman M/Arena, i am really happy that you like my work! Thank you.
Ofc this was just a little test, a little "open program, assemble some stuff and screenshot it" move.

Thinking of the content of the game, i think the Rayman- Universe has enough to offer here...

Amazing job! It reminds me of this. Being able to play a remastered version of Rayman Arena/M with more stages and more playable characters would be a dream come true.

This is quite an ambitious project, but I like it! Hope you'll be able to gather the resources needed to see it come to fruition. :)

R.I.P Tily. I quite like her, though I always picked Rayman of course. (I just love his theme! :mryellow: )

I took a gander at the pictures, and honestly? I love the idea!

You see, I've got the GC version. I've run the OG courses over & over, and the CPU was never very challenging...So I hardly ever lost races. Battling was a bit trickier though. Either way it gets...Boring winning all the time, and I can only race Dark Rayman so many times. He's pretty much the only competent racer. :oops2:

So I'm all for new courses and arenas! I've only got two ideas for new racers, if that's a thing: A Running Shell and Ssssam.

EDIT: Oh shoot, I didn't realize how old this topic was! Sorry! :shock: Could a moderator move this to the Rayman M-Arena topic?
