Re: Carnivora’s gender.
The subject was discussed on the Carnivora talk page a few years ago and the consensus was that it is unknown.

I guess since they're a plant, they've got both sexes... (I forget the technical term as it pertains to plants
)

Re: Carnivora’s gender.
It depends on the species, but I think most of carnivorous plants are hermaphrodites (both male and female reproductive organs are in the same flower).
Just a quick search on Google... I'd say its design is based on the Dionaea muscipula (the classic example of carnivorous plants), which is hermaphrodite.

Re: Carnivora’s gender.
So "hermaphrodite" is used for plants as well? I never remember hearing that in Biology class, although it's been nine years… Searching the synonyms on Wiktionary, it's possible the word I was thinking of was "androgynous". That is a word I know and sometimes use, but again have mostly thought of it more in terms of humans – but now that I think about it, maybe the first time I heard it was in Biology, relating to plants…

Yeah, it is. In fact, I remember the word "bisexual" being used for these kind of plants too.
