There have been many fangames throughout the years, but Redemption really feels on another level. I hope I will not offend any of the other notable creators, as I have not played or seen every one of the listed fangames. However, Rayman Redemption clearly surpasses every Rayman fangame I have seen, including Raymanni's earlier projects. Heck, it surpasses some of Ubisoft's commercial titles (if only for use of better technology). Redemption really feels like the expanded and remastered version of Rayman 1. Something you would think Ubisoft could do if they had this idea of building a bigger better version for next-gen consoles. Those who don't know better could easily mistake it for an official game, and many who played it consider it one of the best fan games ever made.
So what do I envision when I say "make it canon"?
First and foremost, I would like to see pages on the wiki. Not on some third party wiki like Fandom, under "fangames" section, but on RayWiki.
I would like to see the music tracks added to Raytunes.
"Official" walkthrough videos would be nice.
I want it to be considered as source material for the TTQ and ROTG.
(well, it already is, because I made it such during the last season I hosted, and no one can stop me, but you get the point).
How to organize the wiki?
Because of the way Redemption was built - heavily based on the original resources AND remaking all the original levels (plus adding more), I am undecided on whether it is better to make individual pages for everything in it, or add content to existing pages.
For example, consider Allegro Presto. Should there be a new page called "Allegro Presto (Rayman Redemption)", just like we have, for instance, separate pages + disambiguation page for LOTLD in various games? Or should there be a section in the original page ("In Rayman Redemption"), like we have for other topics.
I feel the former approach would be easier and clearer for the level pages, because currently the Rayman 1 the level pages are not divided into sections, but the maps are displayed side-by-side, and differences between platforms are mentioned inline. The differences between Redemption and any other version of Rayman 1 are much more significant, so attempting to cram them into the same page might end up disruptive to the flow and confusing.
For characters/items, the latter approach (adding a section to existing pages) seems more natural, since this is how it is done so far. Many such objects are features across multiple games and their appearances already are different enough.
Thoughts?
