Here's an unpopular opinion:
Rayman 1 is actually a fairly easy game, which even a child can beat without cheats.
I can confirm, I did so on the Saturn when I was about 3 years old. So yeah, I'm definitely in the unpopular opinions here!
Though, even if it's my favourite official Rayman, going back to it after all the improvements made by Rayman Redemption is not so easy

That for me feels ironic for me since I finished Redemption on my first try.
The last time I played R1 without cheating was a few years ago, and I kept dying in random places....like those damn piranhas in Eat at Joe's.....man....but still made it through the whole game!
Even though I curse the Rabbids for what they did to my beloved franchise / what their time heralded in after the original trilogy, I actually kind of enjoy them. They found a place in my heart right beside the rest of Rayman.
I went through a phase back in 2021 where I was always posting a GIF of a Rabbid going BWAAAAH in Skype chats with my colleagues, when frustrating things happened at work (which was, and still is, quite often ) So yeah, they've found a place in my heart too. It's not their fault that they eclipsed Rayman I guess

Yeah, the water part in Eat at Joe's is by far the toughest in the game with Space Mama. It's easier when you figure out you can actually punch them.
Redemption feels like a cakewalk by comparison!... Until you get to Candy Château (it's funnyz because "CAKEWALK"!!! ) and to those darn no damage achievement in Dark Legacy and Boss Rushes.

To be entirely honest with you guys, I've never beaten Rayman 1. But I'm glad so many have accomplished what I haven't.
To be fair, it's considered a very hard game! Perhaps you could have a better chance with Redemption if you're willing to give it a try!

Well, unless you're trying to get all the achievements without using codes, good luck!
I even remember trying hard more once and I was like after the first 2 levels, "nope!"
I'm in the middle of my Demise playthrough in Redemption right now (near Playtopia), and I can tell you that this mode isn't worth it in the slightest.
Though, I did 100 % the achievements once, but I don't think I'll do it again!

That's a good point, Saturn. Buuut I feel like it would be a disservice to not beat the original first, you know? Redemption can be the victory lap Are you more a fan of Redemption or the OG?
That's up to you, then! Patience and learning are really the key when it comes to the OG, so I wish you good luck in your adventure!
As much of an apologist I can be for the original game, I do think Redemption is the superior game by far! Even if I'm not a fan of all the changes and a few things are missing like the original bonus levels, the gameplay is just way better and you have both much more content and more extra challenges you can do for the sake of replayability.

I'm with Goop tbh, I don't really care for Rayman shippings. People are free to believe what they wish though in that regard.
YES. i've always felt Rayman shouldn't have a partner.

Well if take in account the relic story, he did have one.

I categorically refuse to consider the relics stories as canon, and not even Ubisoft threatening me with a shotgun would change my mind.
Yes I agree, I refuse to accept the fact that Rayman's hair sentiant
Yeah, it's always the thing that bugged ( ) me about that Rayman 4, why did they chose André out of all the characters to have a girlfriend?
We all know Razoff is the ultimate waifu who you should have dated in the new game.
