Well, I'm been itching to smash some faces with Kirby since I sit right next to the 64 in our room...and I left a run of Vectorman unfinished on the Genesis next to it...Not really sure what Rayman game to play. I need to check if my Raving Rabbids data carried from my computer move, but I wouldn't mind trying to get Arena running on here. My new computer's made for gaming, after all! :mryellow:

I'll check my Rabbids data first. If it poofed I've got work to do! Then Smash 64, see if I can get Arena running, and finally Vectorman.
I appreciate your taste in older games and consoles! Those are usually the games I go for as well. :hap: Are you going to do Arena online?
My Rabbids data did infact go missing, dang...40% in 2 hours is pretty good though, so I should be able to get everything from story mode back in no time. Plus my new computer is so much better than that old laptop I'd been stuck with forever. It runs so smooth!

Appreciation taken! :hap: I play all sorts of retro stuff, there's something about how they do so much with so little that amazes me. Plus all the tech limitations and just...I dunno, the style and feeling of a game with rough edges and strange atmospheres is kinda lost today with everything looking super detailed and glossy with how strong new tech is. I can't really describe it. The stuff I grew up with wasn't afraid to be crazy and weird. There's something about the 90s-2000s artstyles I really love. Everything was either stylish, grungy, or both, usually with a side of punk rock vibes. I miss it, so I play stuff that goes overlooked or stands out, or is super challenging. And lots of 2000s flash games.

I'm taking a break to go run thru 1P mode with Kirby right quick. Then it's back to breaking Rabbids with hypersensitive mouse controls to get my progress back.

I haven't tried to get Arena running on anything but our ol' faithful Wii, so I've never played online before. I did go a few rounds with my lil bro a few days back and gosh I was so rusty...but I'm still good with items and put up a pretty good fight in battle mode! :proud:

It's a very fun platformer shooter. I don't play it often but it's definitely worth having for the visuals and music alone. Gameplay's not too shabby either, just expect a bit of a challenge going in! The hidden life increases and a bunch of lives are a must for me.

Oh yeah, I've had that happen before. I had one incident where I jabbed the submit button 4 times and I ended up having 4 posts back to back being posted.

Edit: Gah the tabs are screwing me now!

Awh, I'm sorry to hear about your Rabbids data! At least you have something to do on record day if you want to catch up on it.

And I know EXACTLY what you mean by preferring the 90's and 2000's style, as I'm actually a vintage preservation artist. It's always been my favorite era to pull from. As for how they can do so much with so little, the textures of Rayman 3 come to mind. Begoniax, for example, is actually a very low poly model, but with gorgeously detailed textures she has stood the test of time and fits well in the world despite her limitations!

Yeah, I'm off to finish up the other 60% of Rabbids. Just got done playing Smash on very hard with 3 stocks. They were being much tougher than usual though, needed a continue halfway to keep going. Only got through with 1 stock at the end after that. I don't know what'd gotten into them! :boon:

Good textures can make even the pointiest of models works of art! I didn't realize how low poly Begoniax was, then again I haven't played 3 in decades and never got a good look at the model itself. As a kid I probably didn't care, got too lost in the atmosphere. :oops2:

God I would never be able to do a smash game on the toughest mode, I would suck horribly at it. :oops2:

Sounds like a really intense game of Smash!

And yeah, as kids we don’t really focus on those things, but here’s a good example of fine texture art at work!
