The only time I had anything like that was the time I put my bowl in the microwave as a kid to heat my dinner. It sparked and flamed up, then I was like "what the hell", and when I opened the microwave, I found some tin foil stuck to the side. Needless to say, my dinner tasted like smoke and I didn't want it anymore. :P

Ah yes, metal in the microwave. It's really fascinating what those electric fields can do if you're not careful!

Yeah I think i'd use a kettle too to make hot drinks. And the stovetop to boil other things.

Yeah extremely lethal if things go haywire. I'm amazed that they even sell some microwaveable trays as foil without that happening.

I suppose that's true that you have the stove for it, it will just take longer than an electric kettle but it gets the job done.

Is that a gas stove? Or wood / biomass?

I think the gas ones are a lot faster.

Sounds good, mine is still a gas stove! Only issue is won't start up unless I use the lighter now..

We only have an electric one here but that also works, just heats up slow.

I know I'm a bit late, but is that an LPG stove or natural gas? I'm genuinely curious…

Bumped.

Since it's getting closer to winter, I should start switching to mostly hot coffee and tea when I decide to have them. On a normal basis, nearly every caffeinated drink I have is either cold or iced, simply because I prefer colder drinks. Something that I would like to try drinking (maybe during RD?) would be a cold brew, but not sure if I will be able to handle the taste yet. I have to admit that some drinks are better hot (like hot chocolate and honey lemon tea) and others are better cold, but there are some instances (like boba tea or hot chocolate) where I can't really change the temp.

I've always kind of been the opposite in that way, and in Ireland I would just keep drinking tea all day. Over here in Sweden though, I mix it up and have both tea and coffee. I like coffee a lot, but I can't drink too much caffeine because of the fact that I still get stomach issues which it aggravates.

Coffee and tea are both quite strong substances for the stomach, so why not try taking an omeprazole in the morning? That should help you tolerate some foods/drinks better. You can also take almagate.
....
I still preffer coffee to tea, although I have to admit that it no longer has much effect on me

Same, the caffeine in the drinks don’t affect me that much either. At worst I sleep around 3am. On the opposite side of the threshold, I had one instance where drinking cups of coffee put me to sleep instead. Though these may have other causes as well.

I actually do have medication like this. I've had the likes of Nexium also, and many other things that end in "zole". I can buy over the counter omeprazole here so I should also do that just to have them. At the moment I do have some other ones, lanzoprazole iirc.

I feel like I kind of went back to preferring coffee also, but I still like tea, especially with certain meals. I also find coffee to affect my stomach a lot more than tea, though in both cases it also helps to not have an empty stomach. I drink coffee fairly strong too though. :P

I've always loved the smell but never liked the taste of coffee, it's hard for me to believe so many people drink it every morning. I don't really like tea either unless it's very plain, like the super mild green or jasmine teas they give you in Japanese restaurants. When I was sick recently I had a cup of plain hot water and it was amazing, it was apparently what I'd been wanting tea to taste like this whole time :confus:

I would drink coffee at any old time of the day, and rarely ever in the morning (these days I tend to drink plain water in the morning). While it does have some effect to keeping me awake, I dunno, it just never really gave me that buzz of energy I need. But, the smell from roasted coffee beans do smell nice. Kind of reminds me how melted chocolate smells like.

Hot tea, I usually drink only when I'm sick or when I'm going to a restaurant where I'm certain I'm going to be stuffing my face (and when the option is available). I've been told that hot drinks will help me feel less bloated.

It doesn't give me the energy either, I once needed to stay up through the night and next day and forced myself to try downing 2 massive cups of coffee, and I just felt slightly dizzy instead of wired.

Yeah, the warmth and the steam help loosen up the food you in your stomach.

Interesting… I wonder if I should try that…

We've started getting both normal and decaf Barry's tea at work, so I switch it up during the day. If I'm just feeling thirsty I'll have a cup of decaf, but then I punctuate the day with the normal stuff to make sure I don't fall asleep :fou:

I actually brought some Barry's Tea to Sweden just because myself and my gf like it more than the British black teas they sell in the stores here. :P
