Fortunately, there is a (probably unintended) trick that allows you to grab it the first time through, so you don't need to revisit the level:

That may be wanting to get as much extras without creating new content. They probably wanted to use the chair segment for a challenge mini-game, and then realized they cannot leave just part 2 of Top of the World, so they put it into another level, and then tried to create some wieird mix-n-match...

Ahh I did not know that, I'll have to give it a try the next time I do a Revolution run, anything that streamlines and reduces the time spent in SoSaF is a plus in my book xD
(Ok it's beginning to sound like I have a hate-boner for the place, tbh it's not that bad, it just feels a bit like a slog after you're stuck in there too long. Atmospherically and aesthetically speaking it's a pretty good level)

I suppose so, but it feels like they just took the levels in a list, put em in a shuffler and then plonked em back together. I'd have much rather Echoing Caves and Precipice remained as is. I think as an alternative you could have probably combined the 2nd Top of the World level with the other level that got split - Pirate Mines. It'd make that level feel a bit more substantive without compromising the feel and flow of the other two. Have Rayman start by infiltrating a command post that leads to the outside area with the Warship sorta deal.

Eh look at me whining about a 20 year old game 😅

I immediately knew which cage you were talking about! That one sure gave me a hard time...
Thankfully my Dad found that immediately when we first played through that level together. He noticed the crack in the wall that many didn't…

It's actually my favorite level, mostly because of the atmosphere and the aesthetics, so I really don't mind the length, quite the contrary. That was not always the case though, as I remember hating it the first time I played it, probably for its length and difficulty. But somehow, it eventually grew on me!

Truth be told, it's not as bad as I make it out, moreso because I've played Rayman 2 so many times at this point that it's pretty easy to go through.

I just find myself getting a bit bored after a while, perhaps it's cause I can't help but try for 100% which means a good chunk of the time I spend in that level is mindlessly spamming the power fist to ride on the plum.

I could clearly tell you've played it so many times, since we hung out in Discord yesterday with you streaming it. You kept saying "I'm going to try not 100 percent-ing this... and what do you do? 100% levels.

It was fun though, I really enjoyed hanging out with you, Steo, Neo, and others.

Next weekend though, it's you and me on Rayman 3. :bad:

Tbf, part of it was kinda cause I didn't want to get too far ahead and cause I knew neo was trying to pick up as much as he could as well, I wasn't actively trying for 100% but I didn't wanna just go wayyyy far ahead because I chose to take the quicker route and thus leave neo behind. Like for example when we were starting out I was probably gonna take the shortcut in Tomb of the Ancients, but I ended up going the full route to give time.

Alas, I think by the time I finished Iron Mountains he was in the middle of SoSaF...so ooops I guess 😅

Tbh the fun for me came from comparing versions live, like you could see differences from when I ran thru, and when neo went thru. I had his stream on my second monitor so I could give tabs and hints (sorry if I was back seating!)

And technically speaking I didn't 100% it, I missed 6 lums in the Prison Ship that I will probably grab at some point cause I can't help myself xD

I can definitely relate to trying to 100% it even if I tried to tell myself that I don't want to.

It was fun watching the stream, and to only miss 6 lums on the entire playthrough wasn't bad, especially given I don't think I'd have any chance of getting everything on the Prison Ship in a single run. :P

Oh yeah, the Prison Ship. I shudder to think how many hours I've spent purposely falling off those slopes and redoing them again and again to get all the Lums :tssk: At least in 2015 or so I figured out how to relax and have a fairly good chance of picking up those Lums surrounding the chute at the end of Phase 2 (which you have to replay the whole level for if you miss!)

I'm not sure I have that part figured out, even today. :oops2:

I realized the trick was to let Rayman's momentum carry him around the circle and don't try too hard to hop about. It has a higher success rate than what I used to do which was panic and try to steer him and jump :oops2:

I mean that makes sense, but the main part was when you kept saying "I'm going to try not to".

Regardless, you have a significant advantage since you've played this game multiple time, more frequently than Neo has. So he was re-figuring some things out.

No worries on the back seating, someone else was doing a bit of that too, especially when Neo was missing one big obvious thing.

Let's be real though, you're going to fly by me in Rayman 3, even if I started off where I left off at on my previous save as a head start. :oops2:

I'd like to try to get all the secrets on mine though, and finally enter my actual Rayman 3 score into the HoF, since I have yet to ever do that. I wanted to actually do a more proper playthrough for a change.

Honestly I try to do that, but to this day I've only ever managed to get all the lums in that section like at about 20% success rate.

I'll admit to using save states when playing emulated in some situations cause I don't wanna run thru the Prison Ship a ridiculous amount of times just to get the lums in that section xD

If you wanna carry on where you're at and give me the challenge of trying to catch-up, that could also be fun. It's not like I'm a top scorer in Rayman 3 either, I don't even think I'm in the top 100 anymore. So I'd be playing casual (tho I'll probs try to get all the cages)

I don't have the patience to even make the attempt to be in the top 100.

I do want to give it my best effort as possible to at least collect all the gems and get all the cages and take advantage of the power up multipliers, but there's no way I'm going to try to maximize every ounce of potential out of this game. :oops2:

I never thought of mentioning it here as a follow up, but nice streams over the weekend Hoodcom and Master. It was fun to see Rayman 3 again and I've been inspired to play the game again for the first time in a while due to watching. Same even goes för Rayman 2. I basically just want to play Rayman again. :)

Hey man, the next time we do this, we should do another event so Master and I can watch you play! I think it'll be fun!

Plus later on, it would be a great time for me to start playing Rayman 2 on the Dreamcast again and I can stream that for you guys to watch sometime. It's good quality time with amazing friends after all.

Sure, you can watch me suck at scoring in Rayman 3 because I haven't played in ages.

I agree that it would be fun. Even just playing the games again will be fun too since it's been a while, and even just watching was fun.

Yeah I look forward to seeing you trying that out, since you were pretty fascinated with some of the differences when you seen Master play. Also yeah, the main thing is a few friends get to hang out and have fun.

Dude, you'll do better than I did, I'm betting on that one! :bad:

Yeah, I can try to pay more attention to how you combo some things. Since that's nothing I've really dove into for this game.
