I think I may have a general idea on which effects. I'll try these:

1. Destroys the machines that emit red lasers.
2. Causes plants to grow/sprout. The bulb plants and that purple bush at the end of the Canopy are general examples.
3. Puts out fires, clearly.
4. Apparently, it also rusts Robo-pirates according to that one sign in the Canopy.

The Ly statue place and that’s it for me

1. In The Land of the Livid Dead, right before the Teensie Highway, you have to activate a couple of switches with the rocket to get in this secret room. Here you'll find two green gems.
2. In The Desert of the Knaaren, even if they're not located next to each other, you can get two green gems in combo in this secret room. This secret room is located in that section where you're jumping on moving platforms to avoid falling in the green acid. The fight against Reflux is immediately after this part.
3. In The Longest Shortcut, there's a false wall which leads to a secret room where you can find some yellow gems and a couple of green gems.
4. In The Tower of the Leptys, you can collect 4 green gems in Xowar's secret room.
