Re: Vacation? Alert us!

So I'm actually BACK from vacation now, but I wanted to share a little about it since that's partly why I've been gone for a while.
  • I travelled halfway across the country to visit my boyfriend.
  • We went to many antique stores and thrift stores (I think those are also called charity shops) for the fun of it. I found a cool PlayStation shirt and a new pink baseball cap to add to my collection, and my boyfriend bought anything that his geiger counter identified as radioactive.
  • I faced my fears and hiked along a very rough trail at a state park.
  • I laughed for 20 minutes straight about peanut butter soda, of all things. It also surprisingly wasn't that bad when I actually tried it!
  • Another soda possibly caused me to develop an alternate personality. Maybe.
  • And finally, my initial flight was delayed on the last day of my trip and made it so I would have missed my connecting flight home. I wouldn't have been able to get another flight back for another three days. But, I remembered that my sister was going to be driving to my town to help my mom out with a surgery. So, I got a flight to where my sister lives and then she was able to give me a ride home! Still proud of myself for coming up with that plan.

Next week I'm going on a two-week trip with friends to the French island of La Réunion, in the Indian Ocean. Lots of hikes in perspective!

Oh that's good to hear, have fun! :D
I'm already deciding where to go on holiday this summer, since yesterday I started to see if I can find a nice place high up in the Alps so that I can enjoy a few weeks of summer without suffering from the summer heat :)

The mountains are indeed a great place to be in the summer! I'll be probably be in the Caucasus during this time. :)

My family and I are gonna be taking a month long roadtrip through central Europe in July! We're gonna start at the UK the visit family before going to Germany and then driving through it, Austria, Switzerland, and stopping at Poland (my home country!). It'll last around a month, and im very excited!

I sure did! The diversity of landscapes there is stunning, everything is beautiful, and the food was delicious too. :manger:

Not a vacation, but I'll be out in Lyon next week for work reasons.
However, I'll be out in Malaga from August the 4th to August the 9th. I'll be very close to Gibraltar. If I get in Gibraltar, does it count as being out of the European Union?

I’ll be going to Lanzarote from August 1st to some time I’m not sure about, and we’re trying to look into affordable day trips to Calais or Paris

I'm back, finally. Tired af, but at least I could see some beauties in Lyon! A park near where we stayed is probably what I liked the most.

I was already warned, but many of my colleagues didn't really give a damn... Spanish lunch/dinner time is completely different, so most of the times they thought we wouldn't have any problem at looking for somewhere to dinner at 9:15 pm. We always found somewhere to have dinner, but they talked to us pretty badly, and the worst thing was that they never learned the lesson and made the same mistake over and over again! In the end I assumed that wherever I went they were going to talk to us like sh*t xDD

Another thing that struck me about France is that they're much more trusting than in Spain when it comes to public transportation. Where we went they gave us a ticket valid for five days use of the bus/metro. The first few times we showed that we had the ticket, but then we realized that nobody really did and that you could get in for free without anyone checking to see if you had a ticket! I don't know if they are too innocent, but they do that in Spain and I assure you that the bus/metro company ends up going bankrupt in just a few weeks

It's been a curious experience. It wasn't entirely enjoyable because it has been for work reasons, but it wasn't that bad!

I see that the legendary friendliness of Parisian waiters also extends to Lyon!

And as for public transportation, I'm sure people control tickets every now and then, otherwise nobody would pay either, the French aren't that honest.

Anyway, glad you enjoyed the trip! Never been to this park (or spent much time in Lyon, in fact) but it looks like a very pleasant place. :D

As for me, I'm going on a mountain climbing trip next week. A few years ago we hiked all the way to the glacier with this good old LoveMetal, but this time I'm headed for the summit!

I've heard that in Dublin the locals just hop on the Luas (tram) then if they see a cigire (ticket inspector) get on, they hop off and then wait a few minutes for the next tram to come along :mefiant:

Obviously it's impossible to fully enjoy the trip as it was a work trip, but in the end it wasn't that bad! :)

Btw I'm fixing your post

A bit risky as there could be an undercover inspector, right?

For the past 6 hours I’ve been in lanzarote. It’s great and the villa makes me feel like I’m rich! Also the food is absolute perfection (just had a Spanish omelette :manger:)
Also I got excited upon seeing an Xbox 360 at the TV, but the excitement faded upon realising the controllers are dead :tssk:. Unfortunately, I accidentally flooded the shower while taking one, and we’re just cleaning it up now! :oops2:

Enjoy your holidays in Lanzarote! The Canary Islands are always a nice place to visit.

I'll be out until next Saturday. I'm staying in a resort, in Málaga. Not gonna lie, it's the first time I'll be in a resort, so that's gonna be very interesting

Well, there were too many clouds, but it was a nice trip nonetheless. Maybe some other time for the summit!

You can't say you weren't warned here, don't you?

I've been out this week in a resort in Málaga. Probably one of the chillest experiences I'll ever have on holidays

What did you do at your holiday that made it so chill? Anyway I’m glad you had fun out there!

I forgot to alert my return 5 days ago, but I am indeed back. I also am gonna go to lille on the 21st which I am pretty excited for, although this holiday will be nowhere near as long as the (extended!) holiday I just had
