I love it, it's exactly what I expected!

I love it, but I think the price is a bit excessive for what it is.

It's fine, although I'm not entirely convinced by the soundtrack.

It's okay, although I wouldn't have included the accessibility options (infinite lives, etc.).

I expected more from Ubisoft. They should have made some improvements, just like the fans did with Rayman Redemption.

I agree, I don't like the idea that Rayman and his universe is slowly identifying more to his portrayals in the Ubiart games. Don't get me wrong, I like playing them but two games was enough for me, ready for a new direction.

As for the Board Game, it's alright but not that interested in buying it for now.

I'm not sure about buying it. I have to admit I didn't really care too much initially, but it would also be cool to have some Rayman merchandising for the very first time.

What is clear is that most of the people are "happy" with the board game :D

I had this idea after this topic. This week's poll is about... Rayman 2000! What's Rayman 2000? You have the RayWiki to check it out, but summing up, the idea was to extend Rayman's universe creating a town plenty of buildings and streets to explore. We don't have much information about this game, but with that description we can't imagine this game as linear as the other games are. So, the question this week is... Would you have liked an open-world game based on Rayman's universe?

I’d love a full open world adventure set in Rayman’s universe! How it would be portrayed is another topic, as breath of the wild was a great game but rayman wouldn’t fit its theme, same with Skyrim. while I didn’t really think Pokémon legends arceus and Bowsers fury were any good, they definitely fit his universe more. I think maybe it could control like rayman 3, and have worlds from all 5 games made in R3’s art style

An open world game would be awesome. However, I would never play it, so I had to be a party pooper and vote for 'classic setup'.

Haha, I actually really liked Legends Arceus and Bowser's Fury, but funnily enough I'd actually be in two minds about having an open world Rayman game. I feel like Rayman's gameplay works better with a bit of funnelling, maybe not to the same extent as the old Crash Bandicoots, but more in line with say the old Spyro games.

(Though funnily enough, I suppose me bringing up Crash is a bit flimsy, considering how Twinsanity was an open world game, but I'd counter that it was still fairly segmented). I think more open-ended areas akin to the previously mentioned examples work best in a collectathon sorta environment, and given Pokemon's focus on catching Pokemon, and Bowser's Fury's focus on collecting the Shines, they kinda play to those games series' strengths.

It's not like Rayman is completely absent from the objective of collecting items in fairness, but I feel like that was never the main point. At least not to the more open-ended nature as collectathon titles of the era (think Banjo or Mario 64) were. Rayman games seem to be very much a-b between slightly open segments but still very much focused. I suppose the formula could be adapted, but I think you potentially run the risk of creating a game that lacks substance, as I fear that kinda trap happens to some open-world oriented games, there's a balance to be had I think. It could be done no doubt, but I dunno if it could be done well without retaining the pace and feel of prior Rayman games.

I'll be honest, I've mentioned this before in my earlier years when I was active here, I see more scope and alignment with a Metroidvania formula than I do an open-world. Rayman games aren't foreign to the concept of backtracking when collecting new powers, and there's always been an element of minor progression with the collection of cages leading to increased health for example. I think taking the traditional Rayman concepts and adding the labyrinthine touch of a Metroidvania game could work pretty well (I mean there was that one Maze level in Legends after all xD).

It probably isn't the first time that I mention this, but I would love to see a game like that. Unfortunately, Revolution didn't do a good job when representing an open-world, but maybe a different concept/idea/plot would have worked better! But who knows, that's very unlikely to happen

It looks like this was your 2000th post overall on RaymanPC, and it fell during Record Day. Congrats! :hap:

Back on topic, yeah, I think open-world would be interesting. I'm worried I'd fall into the same category as dr_st though :oops2:

It would definitely be interesting at first, but it would probably get stale after weeks of exploring the glade

Yup, it was! And hopefully that ratio will be higher after record day. I remember it was around 1.something before Record Day 2023.

And thinking about this topic, do you guys think secondary objectives would fit in this hypothetical game, or just exploration would be fine?

Classic setup for sure, I'm not sure that an open-world gameplay would really suit a Rayman game. At least, they failed with Revolution, bit did they really try? :P

I guess being a Glade of Dreams, you can explore it in your imagination instead of needing an open-world game. I know that's what I did (a lot!) when I was a kid… :hap:

Maybe LittleBigPlanet took this philosophy for their games, as the world is basically created by people's dreams... Ubisoft being a visionary :hehe:

Personally I think open world could fit Rayman well if done right. If the world itself was as interesting and mysterious as Rayman 2 and 3's levels were, an open world could give players the chance to explore it further than they could in those games. Give Rayman a smooth and fast moveset that makes exploration fun, add add platforming dungeons. Have Rayman start out as powerless but add in powers so by the end you can fly and feel super OP. Well, basically that's the cancelled Rayman Raving Rabbids, isn't it? I think that game was on the right track, it had a lot of potential - it just needed more time in the oven.

What that game needed was Ubisoft not being obsessed to compete against Mario Party
The possibility of improving Rayman's stats (not only his power-ups) independently is also a very interesting idea (strength, speed, agility...).
