Looks like it's time to vote for either the Desert of Dijiridoos or Fiesta de los Muertos:

What's your choice? I think I'll pick the Desert of Dijiridoos because it's slightly Band Land-inspired and I'll take anything that's not 100% UbiArt at this point. :P

As for additional languages, looks like Germany has 50 backers and Spain 33. 500 looks like a long shot for those.

That appears to be £73, and it seems worth it to me!

Honestly if it was the legitimate Band Land I think it'd be a no-brainer (Band Land if it wasn't clear), but even if Desert is more linked to classic Band Land, to me it feels blander in comparison to Fiesta.

Plus we've already got Toad Story if memory serves, and Desert is quite similar mechanically to that area.

I wouldn’t pick either of these choices cuz they’re both Ubiart. But I’ll bet that Fiesta is probably the one most people will choose because it’s from Legends. Oh but wait I couldn’t vote even if i wanted to cuz I didn’t help kickstart this project.

I'm late, but I second what has been said about the exclusion of the original series in this board game. I didn't mind it so much when it was revealed, but now that the project has expanded so much and gave us some naked Rayman/Globox skins instead of actual requested characters...
At this point, the old games don't just feel forgotten... they feel straight up removed. It's as if they never existed, and I really felt that way when I saw how they described the "identity of Rayman's music" as a whole in the Sparks of Hope DLC video last year... Even if most of the soundtracks weren't as cohesive in the past, I'd argue they still blended quite well together in giving that feeling of a magical world with whimsical characters :tssk:
(Though, props to them for their tribute to the laser-washing powders and to the visual presentation of the same video which did feature many lovely throwbacks)

I really don't get that mentality... so many franchises just make easy bonus points from their community just by acknowledging and respecting the past.
This is a good part of the success for some games like Sonic Generations, Mania and Frontiers, or Dragon Quest XI containing so many tributes to the DQ series and especially to the third main game.
And it's not as if we're getting any innovation or some full-on risk taking instead, as we just keep being fed some Rayman Origins rehashes since the past 13 years...
You know it's bad when I regret the times when Rayman 1 and 2 were lazily ported to everything every year :mefiant:
That's part of why I try to avoid showing the UbiArt games in my content, they already have more than enough relevance and I'd rather give that attention to the forgotten past entries and to the community's creations.

And yeah, I already stated my feelings in the past about them replacing the old female characters with just human people that just don't fit in Rayman's world well at all...
Barbara would be perfectly fine in a full-on cartoon medieval fantasy universe and I would actually enjoy her as a character in such setting (if they give her an actual story that is... like come on, make your characters interesting! :mefiant: )... It feels like they just took Betilla's design and "barbarified her" in order to have an easy playable female character, but just like Tily, she wasn't introduced at all and comes across as a lazy substitute literally no one asked for...
As for the nymphs... they would fit right at home in some of "those" anime games, especially when all the comments I see about them nowadays on social networks are just g4merzz thirsting about their design and not caring about their actual character or their role in the game. :noelnoir:
Anyway: Space Mama > All :proud:
Greengoop wrote: Fri Sep 20, 2024 7:29 am My mum actually disapproves of Barbara. She finds is stereotypical that female characters are either princesses or fairies :hap:
She's not wrong! :noel:
I'm sorry ma'am Goop, I'm working on a story with an epic smug musketeer-like princess as the main protag, but I swear there's a good artistic reason for the cliché!... :oops2:

Master wrote: Fri Sep 20, 2024 9:02 am Huh when you put it like that, I'm now trying to think of prominent characters from the mainline games that wasn't either. So far I've got Space Mama, Uglette and Begoniax.
But space mama is a washerwoman, uglette is a mother with a lot of children and Begoniax is a witch, so they still all have very stereotypical female roles :hap:

Sure, but Space Mama is an hommage to a real person (Mère Dénis), and what classic game character other than Space Mama can claim to be so badass she exterminated the hero hundreds of time and traumatized players so much that citing her name alone is enought to trigger PTSD? :noel:
...My poor childhood...

AND, she was the leader of her own crew of pirates in Picture City, was such a good theater artist she built two incredibly decorated acts with fully functional props to fight Rayman, and was a cool (albeit inaccurate) viking before Betilla Jr. Barbara stole the idea! :hap:

Yeah, it’s a really nice homage to a very wholesome person

Looks like Fiesta de los Muertos just won, and now it's a question of whether people want to see mariachis or baby dragon chefs.

I consider you responsible for the Desert of Dijiridoos losing so I will probably vote for the mariachi out of spite. :bad:

No, really, haven't made up my mind yet.

I knew Rayman was devolving into SJW woke trash, like when Ubisoft removed Space Mama's beach pic in some versions because they hate beautiful women being sexy, and sent a cease and desist to Redemption through Twitter for the pirate lips! Next, they'll censor the nymphs and Barbara's inflated panty shots, and then Skops' lips and Rayman's big nose!! I won't support this Tumblr feminazi-infested franchise anymore from now on!!!!1!!! :grrrrrr: :grrrrrr: :grrr:
:hap:
(Let me tell you, it was hard to type this even ironically :noelnoir: )
