I've said that many times, but I actually hated it at first! It just grew on me. :proud:

Blasphemy! :pascontent:

I don't think it's that unpopular though, surely a lot of people like it, but many hate it too and a bunch of others might either like it but prefer others or simply feel neutral about it. Maybe that's a poll to add to the next edition of the Favourite Rayman Game Survey? It would have a contain a ridiculous number of options though.
Master wrote: Fri Oct 04, 2024 9:56 pm I'm still kinda surprised that SoSaF is popular, it always came across as that "one" level that kinda dragged to me - maybe it's cause I first played the PS1 version which had 4/5 (I can't remember exactly) levels in one as opposed to the 3 in regular Rayman 2.
Blasphemy! :pascontent:

Speaking of which, it's pretty interesting how different this level is in the PlayStation version. I still prefer the original layout, but I also like what they did in that version. One more reason to like it.

I doubt that’s coming anytime soon, especially considering Dave hasn’t showed up for a few weeks :pfff:

Unpopular(?) opinion, I don't think Rayman should have a girlfriend.

Unpopular opinion: “raymanian” shouldn’t mean “goofy”. I know ive been supporting the Ubi-Art games a lot lately, but saying something is a better rayman game based on how goofy it is is stupid

No you're right, he definitely shouldn't have a girlfriend. Or at any rate, one that tries to cut his hair and kill all the hair creatures. :P

The idea of rayman having a girlfriend just makes the series more unappealing. Imagine if Mario had a girlfriend and still tried to defeat bowser?

Princess Peach exists. Uhh and so does Pauline, at any rate.

Princess Peach isn’t his girlfriend, and if she was it’d still be pointless. If he had a different girlfriend OR peach, he wouldn’t care about stopping bowser whatsoever. Also Jumpman is Mario’s dad so I guess that makes Pauline his mum

As long as Pauline remains a big-titted giantess, I'm okay with whatever.

Yes, I've seen your "wah-wah-wah, nymphs shouldn't be sexy" and I don't care. I love huge cans and sexual objectification and I'd like for it to happen to me one day because I'm lonely so much that it messes with my brain.

Pirez wrote: Fri Oct 04, 2024 5:46 pm That was precisely my point. Maybe you not growing up with the early-era videogames made you more critical of them since you've experienced games that have surpassed it on many, if not all, points. But you never experienced how Rayman 2 was a masterpiece for its time and that, in a time where videogame releases weren't as blindingly abundant as it is today, how much of an event it was.

Therefore, on the flip side, it could also be said that our love for those games are tainted by nostalgia, which can be a fair assessment to some degree. While it definitely did not aged as poorly as my next example, there are people who unironically believe that Goldeneye N64 still is a top of the range shooter.

What is objectively true about Rayman 2, though, is that it is the only game of the serie that has a whimsical-dark tone. No game in the serie since has attempted it.
And it's definitely a tone I cherish. But I most definitely wouldn't be against a remaster that irons out the gameplay, adds more combat variety and introduced more character arcs, which while still non-existent, Rayman 2 is still the only game to try and implement one (it's the only one where Rayman actually has a choice to make, in the cave of Bad Dreams, and you don't really have a choice anyway. That's how deep of a character arc Rayman underwent in the entire series)
I found RRR darker than Rayman 2 tbh :oops2:

RRR for the GBA is even darker. Come on, the last boss Rabbid actually gets impaled!

I dunno why people brew up this vision of Rayman 2 being incredibly dark and emotional. It’s literally just “oh no, robo pirate” “oh no, obstacles” “cutscene where Ly says some smack for a couple of second, how sad, I’m gonna cry and pray in my rayman 2 cult building”. Like Rayman 3 has a lot darker story, but it is outweighed by all the silly jokes which the R2 devs forgot about when creating their “perfect” game

Yes but it's the only dark moment in the game, I like this constant unhealthy side of RRR, these weird little creatures invade the glade, they don't even speak, Rayman knows nothing about his enemy, he is locked in a gray prison, very industrial, similar to human architectures, very different from the extravagant and more fanciful constructions of the pirates and Hoodlums, everything is dirty, gray, desolate, rusty, the way the rabbids observe Rayman through the window like a strange thing
