Isn't it obvious that they are the same? They wanted Rayman to be unique so they retconned Rayman's species into being teensies (despite going back on the retcon in Legends if the costume descriptions are anything to go by). There's no reason to believe the magician in Rayman 1 and Rayman Origins aren't the same character.

Also, thank you for sharing this! A bit more insight about the intention of the developers, and a valuable piece of evidence. So the sequence was scrapped due to a lack of time? Makes sense, and they certainly had an interesting workaround.

Quite possibly! I probably thought of the color gray first because it's a natural hair color for us, as opposed to light blue that you're more likely to find in a San Francisco parade, but it's Rayman's world so I guess everything is possible. Plus it's a wig anyway.

Well, there’s Romeo, Teensy Queen and that redhead girl from Legends (if i remember correctly, the queens you save also have hair)
So i don’t think so they could be wearing wigs as well, but it’s not confirmed, right?

You're right, it's probably safe to assume that they're not wigs unless shown otherwise.

I'm pretty late to this thread... is it even called a thread? But my theory is that that Ales Mansay was just tricking them all into believing he was the R1 Magician until Ray and the gang finally meet him and they're like... "Wait, is that Mr Dark?" and then his hat falls off and they're like "Oh, that's... a teensy." Kinda like how you said in your original post. I don't believe there are any sources confirming this (and if there are, then boy did I miss them lol) and even if it was confirmed, it would be pretty confusing if The Magician over here just randomly became this little teensy fella.... but then again, Betilla went from limbless and small to basically just a regular human being.
