While his actual entry suggests that his poetry was more of a stepping stone to the work of Souleymane Bachir Diagne, he is listed as an african philosopher, which is good enough for me, whose thought process rarely crosses level 0 of sentience.

It's a modern philosopher that likes to smoke ciggies and his name sounds like a typical Canadian deer-like animal.
It's forbidden because colonialism, he was technically born in Algeria when it was occupied by the French.
