Pluses (+) and minuses (−) of this day

Thank you all. He was with us for around 8 years… We have no idea what breed he was, because he just kinda appeared and we decided to adopt him. We assumed he was a shar pei. And, as you know, shar peis and other pug-like dogs have a lot of health problems due to their anatomy. I don’t know what was the cause of death, but it’s probably had something to do with that.
On a lighter note :

+ Going to work with my crush on… something.
 
Yeah, the only Apple thing i own is my Ipad :oops2:
It’s Samsung S25, by the way. I’m still using my old one, though, i need to buy stuff for it first.
 
So sorry to hear that Mage, eight years is a long time for a pet to dig their way into your heart… :(

They just waited until I got the 16 Pro Max to do this, didn't they? :lol:

In all fairness, the 16 Pro Max will last me the best part of a decade either way. They'll release about 5 or 6 new iPhones before I'm even starting to think about replacing it. :P
 
It is interesting to see how much further stretched out the smartphone upgrade cycle is these days is. I'm glad for it as it means less e-waste, and smartphone upgrades feel a lot more incremental than substantial these days as well.

I also have to give Apple credit for how long they support their phones software wise, it boggles the mind that there are still Android phones out there with two years or even less of software updates.

- Ended up being ghosted last night and was on my lonesome with nothing much to do
+ I've got some plans for my own stuff to do this weekend so I'm gonna be a little occupied for today and tomorrow

Yeah I used to keep buying Samsung phones, and they would only ever get 2 years, then you had to rely on custom ROMs, which was never ideal because of banking apps not liking root. Some other vendors actually support for about 4-5 years though, however, it seems despite me always hating iPhones in the past, their support is amazing. I can't see any reason I'll need another phone for a very long time unless this one just vanishes. The battery is also ridiculously good, but that's clearly because iOS is able to be so optimised, given it only runs on specific hardware.

+ Tomorrow will be fun, I meet up with relatives for a few drinks and a game of darts.
+ I feel positive about the coming weeks.

- My sleep schedule is fucked. My sister suggested I take a nap during the day so I can stay up later. This sounds like it would work, except I stay up real late these days.
- Didn't get much done today, was occupied with a certain something.
- Somehow I had forgotten I was supposed to do a voice chat today with friends. And I was the one who brought it up initially. :oops2:
+ Did some brisk walking today for about 15 minutes. I feel better about walking around, but need to push myself (little by little ofc) if I want to improve my exercise routine.
+ My aunt comes back tomorrow! Look forward to seeing her and talking about her trip!
+ I'm finally going to be able to pick up the chocolate cookies I was supposed to get before she left. Also going to be able to go to a certain place I rarely get to go.

Indeed, though it seems Android manufacturers are starting to get better on this front, some are starting to copy Apples supports cycle with 5 years of support. Though it's still very much down to the manufacturer, and their cadence of updates tends to be staggered with older phones taking a bit longer.

And yeah much like yourself, I used to use custom ROM on my older phones but with cryptographic restrictions when rooting, it's not quite as feasible these days.

+ in other news, my school will now be doing land acknowledgments at the start of every week starting next week! They didn’t even need all my signatures, they just chose to do it! I don’t mind not getting credit, but I’m so excited for this!
- now for the entire school district.. that’s gonna be a lot harder..

I mean, Custom ROMs don't automatically equal root, at least if you can permanently unlock your phone's bootloader. LineageOS for example no longer officially supports rooting, meaning you have to install Magisk and go through an awkward procedure every time you do an OTA update to make sure you don't lose your root access. :mefiant:

Which cryptographic restrictions are those?
