Re: The You Game!
< hopes it's nothing serious, an upset stomach is unpleasant enough as is.
Re: The You Game!
< thinks it might just be a mixture of different things, including lack of sleep. < does of course have GERD though (at least it seems like it) so it happens quite often either way. The issue is, sometimes doing all the "right" things still leads to feeling unwell, while other times doing the "wrong" things leads to feeling just fine. It doesn't always make sense.

Re: The You Game!
< will try to clean things up around here a bit, especially so < can test a few things out for PluM.
Re: The You Game!
< is sure Plum will appreciate the help from ^. < will see in time if < can get a charger for the old laptop < has, if that would help out too at some point.
< just had a fly that was really weird annoy < for hours. It was a big fly, but it made a very strange noise and flew around slowly. It kept randomly showing up and being in <'s face, even when it seemed to be gone, < would sit down, and then it would just appear out of nowhere. < eventually had it land on the side of <'s monitor, and < was so annoyed that < didn't even care that it was on the monitor, picked up a shirt, and slapped it so hard with it (the left side of the screen flashed white lol). < instantly realised it was dead, then picked it up with some tissue and flushed it down the toilet. Problem solved, it won't bother < anymore now.

Re: The You Game!
Of course, < is happy to help Plum out with any testing needed!

< has plenty of systems to try running the test on, though < is discovering needed things to be done with one so far due to the DALLAS RTC chip.

Re: The You Game!
< thanks ^ for the testing, it's a relief to know that this program "can" work on real hardware!
Speaking of flies, < was cleaning the lab yesterday morning and found one of the mass balances covered in dead insects!
< took a photo, but is afraid of grossing people out if < posts it...
EDIT: < just realized that adding tabs to File Explorer in Win11 was effectively restoring a feature from Win3.1, where File Manager was an MDI program!

< is having fun with <'s new laptop..and it made < realize that most people dont give their pcs human names.. like the laptop < is posting this reply from is called "Bob". It makes it easier for < to remember like this acctually..
Re: The You Game!
< has been using Linux mainly for so long that < didn't even know such a basic feature as tabs in the file explorer wasn't already a thing on Windows. It really should have been.PluMGMK wrote: Sat Oct 18, 2025 11:06 am < just realized that adding tabs to File Explorer in Win11 was effectively restoring a feature from Win3.1, where File Manager was an MDI program!![]()

Re: The You Game!
Except it's pretty much a buggy mess on Windows 11, where explorer.exe upon clicking "My Computer" (Yes, I refuse to use their term "This Computer", when it's been MY Computer for ages.) will not open a new window, but an existing window that's of an entirely different directory. This never happened on Windows 10 and prior.PluMGMK wrote: Sat Oct 18, 2025 11:06 am EDIT: < just realized that adding tabs to File Explorer in Win11 was effectively restoring a feature from Win3.1, where File Manager was an MDI program!![]()
Then I often have to kill explorer.exe and restart it because it screws with the optical drive reading speeds. This is where my IT buddy argues explorer.exe has nothing to do with interfacing with the disc drive, but that's not the point, it still makes it horrifically slow for iTunes or even ImgBurn to do it's thing. Like when I archived the Rayman Educational games for Hunchman, I had to kill off explorer.exe.
Then sometimes it just bugs out on the network drives.
Needless to say, now that <'s rant is over and < will say that <'s never had this buggy mess of an issue with Windows 3.x, nor has < ever had issues with tabs in file explorers in MacOS and various linux distros either.
Also... < woke up with a headache bad enough to make it where light sources bother <, so < took some Ibuprofen and will be keeping the lights off and everything just dark across the three monitors here.

< wonders if you've configured it so every explorer window gets its own process, in Folder Options...

Re: The You Game!
Funny enough, < never had issues with it on Windows 10, despite that being toggled off. < guess < will see if it behaves any better here on Windows 11 at least. If it does, < questions why it's not enabled by default.
< Also will get around to running that second test of ^'s fpuchk on the Pentium rig soon, with that switch.

Re: The You Game!
Oh, the Pentium II laptop works fine, < just has to fully drain the power, by removing the battery which still works by the way, and power cycle it to come back on.
Re: The You Game!
< recalls something similar happening to < before on a couple of machines. One of <'s main PCs back in the day refused to boot like this until < turned off the power supply and held the power button for a few seconds. After this it would boot again.
