I didn't actually mind Sonic Heroes, but the PS2 version is objectively the worst version of the game.

Happy birthday to RulesOfKulche! :teuf:

Chaos Control is such a weird ability. Two Chaos Emeralds to go to the past, one to teleport, and smacking enough fires with a speed limit sign lets you fly over the highway for a few seconds. :fou:
Then imagine what could be achieved with three... four... or even more! You could, like, erase time, or speed up everything and reset the whole universe or something!... Yes, making yet another unprompted JoJo reference in 2025, way too easy and overdone right?

Personally, I'd go back and remove Sonic Heroes. God what a train wreck that was...Ah, but then we wouldn't have Shadow The Hedgehog. I guess it's a necessary evil? :oops2: (And hey, escorting Elise was tough sometimes, don't go removing her! I don't hate on Elise, I mean, she's basically just a recycled Madonna from the concept stage of the original Sonic The Hedgehog. Considering 06' was supposed to be a soft(?) reboot of the entire series...Makes sense to me that there's a human love interest. Though you'd have to know concept stuff for that to make sense. Which it doesn't, but I mean we have aliens, some ancient god of the week, and a fox flying a plane. Heck, even SEGA considered the human love interest concept "too weird for the west" to use from the outset. Wonder what changed for 06'? )

ANYWAYS, enough rambling from me. Thanks again for the wishes, everyone.
...Don't you mean, "a Radical Train-wreck"? :fou2:

As someone who actively hates its slippery controls and the heresy it represents as a sequel to the Adventure games (WHERE'S MUH CHAO GARDEN!!??), WELL-!... I'd never be willing to do that.
Why?... Well, that's very simple! ... BECAUSE WE'RE SONIC HEROEEES! :fou: There's too much that I love from that game's spirit regardless of its mediocrity or stupid dialogs, and it's not even the nostalgia of it being my first ever Sonic experience that's talking here!
The level ideas and aesthetics, the bright and diverse colors that make every place feel like a magical trip through the world, the team mechanics and the classic SEGA arcadey feeling in so much of its game design, the 2000s time capsule that is its unforgettable cheesiness, the 4p1c new robot designs like Omega or Neo and his transformations (YES, gimme more scenes of overly detailled transformations going on for entire minutes, YES, PLEASE!)... and above all, its absolute masterpiece of a soundtrack that's still one of Sonic's best! Just make me listen to a few seconds of the Seaside Hill tracks or Frog Forest and I'll immediately shed a tear of pure wonder :nostalgic:

Not to mention the Neo Metal Sonic arc at the end was, as the "fellow kids" of these days would say: "Peak Fiction"! "Absolute Cinema"! :hap: (except Super Tails and Knuckles [& Knuckles] being their normal forms in two stupid yellow balls... whoever decided that can go rot along the skeletons in the Dark Chao Garden! :pascontent: )
And at least, it still OK as a Sonic platformer game!... Unlike a certain -actually decent- action game which my former ultra edgy self considered to be peak badassery and c00l mahture d4rkness! :P (AND YES, I still thinks unironically that the opening goes extremely hard :hap: )

...And most importantliest, it introduced my favouritest original character: Feminist Eggman the Romantic Gentleman®! Because together, We Can achieve a peaceful and everlasting equal servitude... as robots! :proud: :hehe:
Also shoutout to my best sanic buddy: Question-Mark the Dark Shape®! :noel: (DO NOT STEAL!)

Eh, regarding bootleg princess Peach™ who got injected with too many "damsel in distress" steroids, regardless of her gameplay or writing as a character (which deeply offends me as a writer addicted to creating dozens of extra rad badass ladies :tssk: ), I'm really not particularly comfortable with not owning my games the whole bestiality and necrophilia thing. :hap:
And indeed, since all those years, I still have no idea why they thought Madonna wasn't OK in 1991, but it suddenly would be fine for 2006 with an actually realistic human falling in love with a cartoon mascot hedgehog!... :noelnoir:
Even more so when, since 1993, he already has an actual hedgehog girl chasing his feelings at Super Saiyan speed who they did brought back and made into a """choice""" in the game!
It's also such a weird flip-flop when Madonna was also scrapped to go in a less "silly" direction compared to Super Mario... but then they looked at how many times his princess got kidnapped in the entire series and went: "Pfft, these are rookie numbers! :bad: Watch how it's done! 8) :fou: "

Anyway, again, I hope you two had the best time possible! :D

It is interesting how much more tolerant to jank and bad design you are when you're young and you don't know much better. Still I do have Heroes to thank for the Neo Metal Sonic design. It's excessive, but I can't help but love it.
That makes us two, then! :mryellow: ...

...Two unlucky PS2 fellows, indeed!
Of course, as a ~4-6 years old, I didn't see anything wrong with it back then, but getting a GameCube copy last decade sure made me realize what I've been actually missing on for so long! :oops2:

...Aaaand that's why you don't ramble when I'm here, because otherwise... I'll show you the real superpower of teamwork of rambling and going off-topic! :hinhin:
...Gosh, I still have to go formulate my walls of texts to the Pokémon, R&C and Zelda threads as promised... :oops2:

Careful going back in time, you might wind up at Regal Ruin! I actually really like Sonic R, more so the Saturn version than the PC-to-GC port on Gems Collection, Metal Sonic makes the coolest sci-fi hover noise in the original. They changed it to an overheating computer fan in Gems, which is probably what the PC they ported it from sounded like. (Also I noticed that edit, nothing can surprise me.)

Oh man, you had to bring up that broken vase sound effect again! It honestly never fails to make me laugh. THAT'S NOT WHAT GLASS BREAKING SOUNDS LIKE, SEGA! :oops2:

I can give Heroes that, Neo's awesome. And the levels are bright, especially where Bingo Highway's concerned. It wasn't my first Sonic game, but as kids, we didn't have much in terms of games. We had to stick with what we had, and due to a bit of a mistake on a relative's part, we were going to get a GC with Sonic Heroes, but...they brought the PS2 version of the game. So they got a PS2 for us instead. We got one of those GC-Wii combos sometime after that, but for a while the PS2 was the only console in the living room. By then we'd completed Heroes and had grown to loathe it, because we were stuck with it for so long. Once we had the chance to trade it in, we did.

It says a lot that in Shadow Generations' jukebox, I could only take 30 seconds of the main theme before cutting it off. I hadn't heard it in years and just couldn't keep listening to it. Ironically, Rail Canyon's level set was really easy for me because of Heroes, and Neo was great to see again. So I can technically still appreciate Heroes for the little things.

Thanks again for all the birthday wishes, guys. :hap:
