The effort sure does worth it, I've been visiting it when needed. Thanks a lot!
Also Rayman 2 is the least played game in my Rayman franchise list!

Well, there's no shortage of different versions to play that's for sure. I've played the PS1, PC, PS2, Dreamcast, DS and 3DS versions going off the top of my head. So many differences, you're in for an interesting (or frustrating depending if it's one of the DS versions) experience, that's for certain.

Good news! GOG has updated Rayman 2 today, as the game has been added to their Preservation Program!

Here's the changelog:
1.0 GOG v2 changelog (25 November 2025)

Added full support for Windows 10 and 11.
Added Polish localization.
Added DirectX 6 graphics emulation with new rendering options, including Windowed Mode, V-Sync, Gamma Correction, Integer Scaling, Anti-Aliasing, and more.
Updated Glide emulation with an improved Vulkan backend and new options such as custom resolutions, custom refresh rates, integer rendering, integer scaling, and anti-aliasing.
Fixed black screen issues at launch.
Fixed uneven framerate for smoother gameplay.
Optimized the default graphics settings for a better out-of-the-box experience.
Fixed an issue where the game configuration tool wouldn’t launch on some machines.
Added full support for modern controllers, including DualSense, DualShock 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Switch 2 Pro, Switch Pro, Logitech F, and Amazon Luna, with proper button layouts, hotplugging, and wireless mode.
Added D-Pad support for controllers.
Fixed incorrect input device enumeration.
Fixed crashes when loading levels on DEP-enabled systems.
Fixed a crash on game exit.
Reduced long startup times.
Fixed Alt+Tab task switching.
Added Cloud Saves support.

The game is also currently on sale at -76%!

Hmm, I might try running the PC version again at this rate then, does this new update break compatibility with Rayman Control Panel?

I have recently checked the new update, and i can confirm that Rayman Control Panel still can recognize the game normally

However, it does break compatibility with Ray2Fix and the widescreen patch, probably due to the fact that both of them modify the executable :|

GOG has also just tweeted about the update.
Rayman 2: The Great Escape is an absolute icon of gaming and a masterpiece of a platformer. The game recently joined the GOG Preservation Program, and we want to make it loud and clear: the GOG version is the very best version available anywhere.

We’re incredibly happy that players can enjoy the ultimate experience of one of the genre’s greatest titles, thanks to the numerous improvements and fixes delivered through our Program.

Making sure legends like Rayman live forever is our mission. And it’s YOU, with your support, who make that mission possible. Thank you.

But enough talking! Check out the changelogs, make it yours forever, and enjoy 💜
It's beautiful and sad to see how much more committed they are to Rayman's past than the company holding the rights of the franchise. :hap:

The third line accidentally reminds me of the "Don't let heroes die" quote. :mryellow:

the GOG version is the very best version available anywhere.
Inb4 someone comments "Butz muh Dreamcast/Revolution version!! :mefiant: ", they obviously mean "still currently sold" :P
Anyway true fans know Rayman 2 GBC is the very best and only true version, as officially confirmed by Ubisoft! :noel: :fou2:

ngl the fact that GOG is the only one that seems to care about Rayman...

It makes my heart warm but it also makes my heart break. You'd think Ubisoft would care too about the very character that got them on their feet into the gaming world...

If you want to be an obnoxious pedant...I don't think the PS3 PS Store has been taken down yet, and if memory serves, you can get Rayman Revolution on PS2 Classics there...

Though I'd say Revolution's claim to being the "best" version of Rayman 2 is subject to a lot of subjectivity and debate given how much it deviates from the original game. As much as I like being able to explore, some of the changes still really rub me the wrong way (WHY WOULD YOU TAKE THE CAVES OUT OF THE ECHOING CAVES)

I remembered it at the last second before posting... but then also remembered it's exclusive to the US (where's it's called "Rayman 2 Revolution" and not "Rayman Revolution"), therefore not in Europe/France where Rayman originates from, and so I chose not to care. :P :hap:

As usual from them... profit over principles and integrity. :noelnoir:
Gotta milk that sweet AssCreed, Far Cry and bland shooter/open-world money! :hehe:

That always did bother me in honesty, why was it region locked? Not that it's a big deal these days considering how easy it is to employ alternative means, but it does boggle the mind.

At any rate, I'm interested in trying out the new GoG version, but I've been spoiled with the widescreen patches at this point, I don't think I could go back to 4:3. I suspect that'll probably get patched back in through some enterprise at some point, though.

The entire concept of region-locking is pure corporate evil with nothing to justify it. :destroy:

That's easy, get an oversize 4:3 monitor! Just kidding. They top out at 21", I believe. Short of special markets. :fou:

Any monitor can be a 4:3 monitor if you believe hard enough (and have ultra thick bezels covering around 40% of the panel...)

4:3 is nothing, I have a 5:4 1280x1024 monitor hooked up to my old Windows 98 PC.
