Also come on, Rayman Legends 2, that's not a remake, that's a goddamn SEQUEL OF A SEQUEL. WHAT.

It's not a Rayman Legends sequel, it's just Rayman Legends. The url just has 2 in it. It's either a remaster or a remake.
Droolie wrote: Fri Jan 23, 2026 6:59 pm Ah yes, rated M for horror themes. I suppose we could be getting more Land of the Livid Dead or Drak's Nightmare.
I'm hoping they add in the cut Drak's Nightmare and Crouching Huns worlds but I'm not holding my breath. It'll probably be a remaster/port.

The Australian classification website thing might be debunked, as it seems to have been for when the original Rayman Legends was added to Game Pass as part of Ubisoft+: https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLeaksAnd ... utm_term=1

That said, it's most likely still a Rayman Legends remake.

A remake of Rayman Legends is simply stupid, that's it. Even adding a few more levels (that won't contribute that much to the series) and making some changes up and there to gameplay (which has aged pretty well) doesn't justify this kind of decision. Again, hopefully this guy's wrong and we're getting something different, but Mortamon explained it perfectly... TLOU had an unnecessary remake, so nothing stops Ubisoft doing it, even if it's nonsense. :fou:

Although I gotta say, even if this remake (if it's finally true) is disappointing, we shouldn't forget that the priority here is Steambot. This game, for sure, is the 3D game we're all expecting, and hopefully it hasn't been cancelled with all these new policies at Ubisoft.

From Insider Gaming's ongoing podcast: Tom Henderson just said he believes Steambot is indeed a Rayman Legends remake (so no, unfortunately it is not "the 3D game we're all expecting"), and the other project "Iceman" will release before that. It's coming "very very soon, because it's like an anniversary release for Rayman".

I suppose that this is just like Prince of Persia, releasing on January 16, 2026.

The only thing that would make any sense is for the Rayman Legends remake to be in 3D... In that case, I still think it might not be the right game to remake (Rayman 2 is definitely outdated, for example), but it certainly wouldn't be as awful or disappointing as the "leaks" have described. Anyway, we'll just have to wait and see...

Lets just get to the logical conclusion, the franchise was doomed the day it started. Once again I take inspiration from TfWiki:

Yeah, what anniversary was he talking about? September 1st? This would make the most sense but that's 8 months away, so I wouldn't consider it "very very soon" like he said. Maybe he's talking about another anniversary, like the anniversary of a game other than the first? I also find it weird that they basically released nothing on the 30th anniversary but they're dropping a massive project on the 31st

Phew, everyone, I've been sick since all this winter, and last nights I had some insane fever dreams about us discussing rumors on Rayman Legends getting a remake out of all games, and that it was Project Steambot all along! :baille: :paranormal:
Could you believe something this ridiculous ever happening?

Wait...

HOLD ON, WHAT THE ABSOLUTE FU-...

WHAT? HOW? WHY? MAIS OU EST DONC ORNICAR!? :boon:
ARE WE EVEN IN THE REAL WORLD ANYMORE!? :mefiant:

WHO- WHAT- WHAT SORT OF INEPT "HUMAN BEING" WITH ALLEGEDLY A "HUMAN BRAIN" IS EVEN MAKING DECISIONS AT THIS TRASH HEAP OF A COMPANY ANYMORE!? :pascontent:

MOST PEOPLE REACTING TO THE RUMORS ON SOCIAL MEDIAS ARE ALREADY DUMBFOUNDED AND QUESTIONING ALL OF THIS NONSENSE!
DO YOU KNOW HOW BOWSER'S INSIDE STORY FLOPPED MONUMENTALLY HARD WHEN THAT SHIT WAS REMADE FOR THE 3DS!? AND IT WAS A BLOODY MARIO GAME!

HELL, YOU WEREN'T HAPPY ABOUT LEGENDS' NUMBERS BEFORE, AND N O W YOU THINK IT STANDS A FUCKIN' CHANCE BY SPRINKLING GLITTER ON THE CORPSE OF THE GOOSE THAT LAID THE GOLDEN EGGS!?
IS THIS HOW YOU WANTED TO MAKE MONEY!? BECAUSE THAT'S EXACTLY NOT HOW YOU MAKE MONEY!

HOW CAN YOU FOR ANY SECOND LOOK FOR A GAME TO REMAKE IN A FRANCHISE WHERE EVERYONE HAS BEEN BEGGING FOR MORE 3D SINCE FREAKING 2003, AND YOUR FIRST GODDAMN PICK IS THE LATEST 2D ONE WITH ART THAT CAN NEVER POSSIBLY AGE, WHICH YOU'VE PORTED MULTIPLE TIMES LAST GEN AND TO WHICH YOU GAVE A BLOODY ***DEFINITIVE*** EDITION?! :x
"""DEFINITIVE""" EDITION! "D-E-F-I-N-I-T-I-V-E"!
LET ME SPELL IT OUT AGAIN:
D.E.F.I.N.I.T.I.V.E

WHAT ARE YOU EVEN GONNA CALL THIS VERSION, THE TOTALLY DEFINITIVEST EDITION™!?... NO, IN FACT, CALL IT THE DEFINITIVER EDITION™, THAT WAY YOU HAVE ROOM FOR THE DEFINITIVERER™ VERSION FOR THE EFFIN' PS7 IN ANOTHER 13 YEARS, RINSE AND REPEAT AD VITAM AETERNAM!! :grrr:

The more I read about anything Ubisoft is doing, and the more I desire for them to go as bankrupt as their creativity, while all the employees find a much healthier environment, and the IPs Ubi hoarded and sat on for decades are bought by companies who actually care about making games first and money second!
But of course, we do not live in such an utopian world, so say goodbye to a proper future for Rayman, Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell, Might & Magic and so many more, because at that point we have like 0,1% chance for them to get anything great happening!

Phew... I need to calm down... Sorry, I had to let it all out. 🙃
Once again, mostly rumours with nothing 100% confirmed, but in case this does turn out true, you have all of my reaction prepared in advance here! :noel:

However, it would certainly explain why we were told Christophe Héral was returning to compose for more Rayman games :!: , despite how unsuitable his style would be for a Great Escape or Hoodlum Havoc remake...
It was because he's probably going to recompose his soundtrack for Legends or expand it with new pieces should it be the same thing with more stages...
And as they did say it in plural, this pretty much would imply too that we're not escaping the UbiArt milking loop ANYTIME SOON... despite the fact the cow has been already bone-dry since the mid to late-2010s.

Image

In fact, maybe the name "Iceman" has been picked in reference to the fact that a certain "Man" will be put on ice again if we're not interested into the pointless load of steambot they're blowing off at us. :fou:
Otherwise, it may mean we're getting a retread of Fiesta Run, except it only takes place on the icy surface of Gourmand Land! :fou2:

Who knows, maybe Legends Super Definitive Complete Deluxe Turbo 3D HD 4K DX Anniversary Ultimate Nintendo Switch 2 Edition™ will really happen and it will turn out to be the greatest avant-garde masterpiece ever...!
But with Ubisoft in charge, I certainly can't hold my breath in that regard. :hap:

Anyway, let's all look at the positive... We're having some great Rayman games coming out regardless, all made by the fans! :D

Isn't the phrasing implying the Rayman series is in a boring situation since 2011/2006? Therefore, by your correction, aren't you saying Rayman 3 made the Rayman franchise boring? :hehe: :bad:
...But you're right in a way about the number still being incorrect, therefore I'm changing it to 2005 for the totally flawless Rayman DS and Hoodlums' Revenge, which everyone 200% loved! :hap:

Well, even before... in fact, Rayman was ruined the moment it stopped being a SNES project... :tssk:

I'm glad I've reached a point in my life where I find these sorts of things darkly hilarious. Maybe it's just a form of learned nihilism after being disappointed so many times but sometimes you can't do anything else but just laugh xD

That being said, no-ones gonna think less of ya if you wanna cause, ya can say fuck. It's pretty cathartic. 😁

I’m hoping that the rumors are false, but honestly, it feels like the Rayman franchise just can’t ever catch a break. I thought that Rayman in the Phantom Show had marked the beginning of a Rayman renaissance and that the next game would be the next big event in it, but I guess we’ll have to wait a while longer before that actually comes to pass. :(

While I (probably) won’t think less of anybody for how they talk, I strongly discourage swearing. In my opinion, it’s just unnecessary. :?

I somehow liked RRR on the NDS, so technically that's my last "good" Rayman game, even if it was just a reskin of game already in development.
I've been wanting a Rayman 4 for so long, just thinking of or saying the words "Rayman 5" makes me feel weird knowing I'll never see the day.

I think he's making things up.

I just want to say that a much more reliable insider (going by NateDrake) has just said that Tom Henderson has made a lot of inaccurate claims about Ubisoft this week. A bunch of other insiders appearing in that thread saying that he's very off too.

This "Iceman" information comes completely out of nowhere, supposedly it's releasing soon, and for an anniversary that doesn't seem to exist.
Tom Henderson only reported about a Rayman remake happening, supposedly codenamed "Steambot" but now I'm not sure I even believe that anymore as no one else has confirmed that. He pivoted to it being a Rayman Legends remake after it was suggested by xj0nathan but will not answer whether each project is 2D or 3D despite being asked constantly. I find it very suspicious.

I think "Iceman" is fake and I think the codename "Steambot" might be, too. I think the info about it being a Rayman Legends remake is real, however.

EDIT > Ok, and of course right after I say this Rayman 30th anniversary gets rated in Australia :P

Michel Ancel's consultancy on the Rayman 30th Anniversary game involved redesigning The Magician, The Musician, The Photographers and Tarayzan to be teensies.

Heh depends on the person, and I tend to find creative substitutes for swearing funnier (although the amount of sterilization on YouTube and various media these days do get frustratingly ridiculous :tssk: ). I also intended the cut out "Fu-..." as a perfectly cut scream in text form! :noel:
But I can certainly add back some of the "less polite" words I originally put in the first draft of the ranting bit, if anyone would find it a more satisfying read :hehe: :bad:

(I also just added an extra line about Legends' original "unsatisfying" sale numbers, as I forgot to include that detail that makes this whole thing even more nonsensical... :mefiant: )

Btw, I pictured all of the rant in my head with Gordon's angry voice from Freeman's Mind (which is quite fitting here as the author started the Stop Killing Games movement, in part because of Ubeysoft's shenanigans :hap: ), it certainly does make it very cathartic to imagine it in Ross' tone!
..."Ubisoft is not rereleasing the exact same games all the time, Gordon, you're just being paranoiiid!" :fou2:

That's kind of what I was thinking about too when I was talking about the corporate bullshit stuff in my second post, I already feel sad for the devs if it's the outcome again... :noelnoir:

Same, because at this point, I feel like reality is falling apart so much with every corporate decision becoming even more beyond parody, that I'm probably gonna wake up tomorrow feeling like I dreamt up today's conversation too, in a sort of 5 stages of grief cycle until I can accept reality is just this deathly stupid! :confus:

But who knows! Maybe the Definitiverestest Rayman Legends will be a huge transformation and take some notes from the DLC and Brawlhalla by, like, adding the new versions of the Laser-washing powders as skins! (I was going to say maybe even as power-ups, but let's not forget how Origins/Legends would still be hindered by the multiplayer component in that regard...)
Heck, maybe the final boss this time will be a giant Rabbid Peach who kills you by recording herself roasting Rayman & friends on TikTok :hap: (And if anyone at Ubi is reading that conversation and seriously considering this a valid idea, I'll personally hunt you down and skin you... into a low-res Rabbid mod. )

And I get ya, there are many cases where swearing can be too forced (like how it was received in a BG&E 2 trailer) and come across as cheap and immature writing.
I was even guilty of that in the past when making content during my early adult years, and now I cringe extremely hard at some of the things typed by my former fingers*! (*which I replaced after they naturally fell off while experiencing "Rayman DS controls torture" :noel: )

TriangulumDelta wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 9:16 pm Michel Ancel's consultancy on the Rayman 30th Anniversary game involved redesigning The Magician, The Musician, The Photographers and Tarayzan to be teensies.
And I bet he redesigned Betilla into a scantily-clad cougar, removed the moment Rayman is showing some humanity to the crying "Bzzit" for slapstick comedy, and replaced the Mr Dark Teensy boss fight with a Just Dance sequence :hap:
(...And if this snide joke ever becomes a reality in any shape or form, I swear that I'll go "redesign" everyone in charge of these decisions into biblically accurate Rayman cosplays :pascontent: :bad: )

If this is really for Rayman 1, I'm praying to all of the Glade's gods that this stays true to the art/animation style of the original, for the love of Polokus please don't make my childhood game into yet another Origins/Legends title with recycled assets and dumbified characters! :ouin:

Of course not, but I do feel a slight level of bemusement when I see terms like "effin," at that point it come across as less not swearing and more a juvenile workaround than a means to not swear in the first place. Though I suppose I am one of the rickety people that has a chip on their shoulder about how everyone now says "ahhh" instead of "ass." So make of that what you will.

It's a rant, maybe it's cause I grew up in the era of the internet with personalities like AVGN, but I find there's a greater punchiness to letting the odd cuss word come in

But you do you, I'm mostly just commenting on the fact that people sometimes try and workaround out of a missplaced sense of propriety, instead of just taking the opportunity to be authentic, I guess.
