This is extremely interesting. Because Revolution always felt to me not so much a different Rayman game, and a collection of ideas that was scrapped from the final R2 release and put together haphazardly.

That makes a lot of sense. Although I don't like Rayman Revolution much as a remake, I am curious what it could have been as a standalone game. It draws an interesting parallel to Rayman Origins: both games were rushed, and both ended up feeling inconsistent.

(It's amusing that when I search my post history I find that I paraphrased page 57 of l'Histoire de Rayman in two entirely unrelated posts, one in 2018 and the other in 2022 )
So this is the fourth time this info from Florent Sacré has been brought up on the forum, and people still find it new and interesting :hap:

In the Menhir Hills, the Recruit Training enter between the 2 sleeping Pirates there's a room with a strange machine.

What do you think that machine is for? It never shows up anywhere else, and it has a really unique design.

I think it's meant to be extracting energy from the Lums trapped in the cage. Not sure why it was only used in that one place though...

That's what I thought at first, but it still functions even after we break the cage.

Does it exist in the PS1 version or Revolution where the cage would be a critter or sprite?

The texture on it reminds me of the beta Mechanical Sssam too.

Exactly because of that. Once Rayman broke the cage, the machine continued trying to pull energy which overloaded and burnt the circuitry.
This made the Pirates realize that the design is flawed and they discontinued these machines. That's why you don't see them anywhere else.

That could just be an oversight! I think PluM's theory makes sense.

(And dr_st's, of course. :P)

That texture on the machine looks really similar to the texture used on the scrapped robotic Ssam.

Alright, RPC members! Once Rayman 2 is installed, the only thing I hope for is that I won't abandon the walkthrough. Knowing my perfectionism... well, it will be quite hard for me. But I will do my best. Wish me luck!!~☆

It'll be your first playthrough of R2? If so, try not to use a walktrough :P I always found I got most of my fun playing R2 trying to find every secret by myself, refusing to use a walktrough or guide. There's one lum in Tomb of the Ancients that I got by watching a video on youtube, but that's only because I wasn't even aware I was missing anything (Not a spoiler haha more like an easter egg).

Rayman 2 is one of those games where secrets are cleverly hidden so it might be fun, but you do you and no judgement here :mryellow:

Ah right! Sorry. I meant I won't abandon playing the game. My bad for not wording it well. And no, I tried playing it once but abandoned it in the beginnings. This time will be the second. Thanks for support by the way!

Oh have fun then! You won't regret giving the game another try, I bet there are many members here (including me) that wish they could play this game again for the first time!

How far did you get? And which version of the game will you be playing this time?

Not as far in the first time. When I abandoned playing, I deleted the game and now struggle to install it. I'll figure thing s out myself eventually. It's a matter of time

I remember where I abandoned playing R2. It was the Fairy Glade level. My second time is in the Dreamcast emulator by the way. It's installed on my phone, so I'll have no trouble playing it. Not used to joystick though ^^"

It's a pity you didn't persevere at least a little further. The level after that - the Mushrooms of Awakening is very good.

Welp, now that I have Flycast to play the game, I don't think I'll abandon it for at least a while. Never, at the most. Once I progress further I'll show the screenshots!
