Re: Rayman remake rumor - confirmed by Ubisoft!
Well, looks like I can happily eat my words!
When I complained the other day about them choosing Legends over Origins, I honestly didn't think they'd actually give us both. An Origins remaster is literally exactly what I was asking for. It's been trapped on the PS3/360/Wii generation for way too long, so finally having it playable on modern hardware in 4K/60fps is a massive win.
I still think the Legends remake/reboot is a bizarre decision, but getting a proper definitive edition of Origins with the Vita content and new extras completely softens the blow. Consider me hyped for this one! I'm definitely picking it up.

It wouldn't be the first time drastic retcons have occurred in this franchise, honestly. But yes, that's Betilla.Hunchman801 wrote: Sat May 30, 2026 11:30 am That would be so much better than retconning Betilla into this almost entirely new character...
Re: Rayman remake rumor - confirmed by Ubisoft!
I know retcons are basically a staple of this series at this point, but it's just so frustrating how Ubisoft never seems to learn.
Why take a unique, cartoony design and turn her into a generic, hyperrealistic mobile ad character? It doesn't make her look cooler or more modern, it just makes her look completely soulless. Every time they try to reboot or change things up, they end up stripping away the weird, quirky identity that makes Rayman what it is.
It's just a baffling decision. If they wanted a realistic fantasy goddess, they should have just made a new IP instead of awkwardly shoving it into this one.

Do you know if the characters talk in the remake? Is there cutscenes?danyq94 wrote: Sat May 30, 2026 9:58 am I’ll say it again: these details you’ve rightly (In any case, the treasures in Legends don't have eyes) pointed out are simply the result of image enhancement using a program like Waifu2x, Remini, or who knows what else.
Try taking a small image and enlarging it with these programs: you’ll get the same artifacts you saw in this key art.
There’s nothing wrong with being skeptical, but this artwork is clearly official.
You'll see in the announcement.

I'm not sure publishing the leaked image in the news section of the wiki is a good idea, since It's probably a fake image generated by AI.
And if it's real, it's a pretty big spoiler of the upcoming announcement.

Re: Rayman remake rumor - confirmed by Ubisoft!
This is such a funny sentence cuz Origins Betilla was very much a different character, to the point I will forever consider UbiArt games a reboot. All these retcons stem from funnily enough the team being TOO creative, this is likely another repeat of that. At the same time, we should wait to get proper answers in 3 days. Could be Betilla and Mr. Dark on the cover, or it could be new characters again. Montpellier never really disappointed us with their art direction, so we shouldn't judge crappy leaks as absoluteXtof60 wrote: Sat May 30, 2026 12:29 pm I know retcons are basically a staple of this series at this point, but it's just so frustrating how Ubisoft never seems to learn.

With how Origins/Legends infamously lacked any and all story; seeing Retold actually have one, and Origins EE referencing R1 with the new custom photo boards; I'm guessing they're pulling a Sonic and retconning everything back to actually have all games have some sort of connection, which I'm all for
Retold was obviously used as a springboard for the team. It's very much a reimagining ala FF7R/RE2R, not a remake. Just take bibs and bobs from OG, while making something new. Which ofc at that point it should've been called Rayman Retold, but the title of Legends pulls a bigger crowd and I do not blame them for that

In-game leak. Can't really tell if it's AI-generated or not, considering AI to this day has a real hard time making out Rayman, and all the details on him seem to be in place, including 4 fingers
Re: Rayman remake rumor - confirmed by Ubisoft!
This one looks fake, doesn’t match Rayman design seen in previous leaks including R3 skin and key art.Dastanovich wrote: Sat May 30, 2026 1:22 pm SPOILER_HJgcbcJWAAARA-L.png

Well, well, well, it seems there's more Rayman games to play this year. I guess I have a reason to watch a State of Play in purpose for the first time.
I'll wait for 2nd June to go more in depth about my thoughts accordingly to these leaks and Xbox's little accident.
. Even ~15 years later I still feel comfortable with the headcanon that's only a Teensie folklore story.

Yeah, that's how I've always seen it. Whether he was granted the power by a fairy or just created with it, the story the mosaic showed off never made sense to me. To be fair, the same could be said about Globox's story shown on the mosaics, but there seems to be a lot more evidence pointing towards that being true, so I'm fine with that one.Haruka wrote: Sat May 30, 2026 1:51 pm Even ~15 years later I still feel comfortable with the headcanon that's only a Teensie folklore story.

Re: Rayman remake rumor - confirmed by Ubisoft!
So, to comment a bit on the actual material we do have now: I took a closer look at this new photoboard in Origins EE, and I noticed the way they depicted the clawy nails from Mr Dark's Mini design... and I really preferred how they looked in that game by actually melding with his gloves rather than this awkward looking nail extension accessory!
"Mr Dark slays!
"
Also, I got confused when I noticed that weird split when you look closely at his right shoe (with an oddly specific lighter color that made me fear they genuinely turned him into a Teensie
), but I then realized they just deepened his Mini heels!

Also interesting how they just reused Raymesis for this instead of Bad/Dark Rayman...
Glad to know that all the doppelganger confusions aren't ending anytime soon!
Somehow, the hair creatures returned
(Welp, good for preservation as I was thinking... even though this is not quite the enjoyable type of preservation here
)
If only they could use this as an excuse to replace them (just keep them as extra bonuses) with proper lore cutscenes actually adressing meaningful mysteries or worldbuilding elements from the Rayman universe... But that would be wishful thinking, heh?
I guess you could call it... a Rayman Legend...
I'll get my coat.

Re: Rayman remake rumor - confirmed by Ubisoft!
I thought not. It's not a story the Teensies would tell you. They'd have you believe it was merely the result of drinking an excess of plum juice. It's a Vubooduboo legend.Mortamon Saturn wrote: Sat May 30, 2026 2:13 pm "Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Glutueis the Red Wizard...?"
Darth Glutueis was a Red Wizard of the Glade of Dreams, so powerful and so magically gifted he could use his Vubooduboo to draw the poison right out of the deadliest bubeastietubbis... He had such a knowledge of the mystic arts that he could even keep the ones he cared about from succumbing to venomous stings. The Vubooduboo arts are a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural.
He became so red... the only thing he was afraid of was losing his crimson hue, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, his massive appetite clouded his vision. He mistook a blue mosquito's eye for a berry and swallowed the insect whole. It buzzed noisily from within his belly for help, and a massive swarm of blue mosquitoes descended to sting him in his sleep, fusing into his skin and turning him permanently blue.
Ironic. He could save others from venomous stings... but not himself.
Re: Rayman remake rumor - confirmed by Ubisoft!
Origins Betilla was a massive retcon, but the difference is that even if she looked completely different (and inappropriate for a Rayman game), her design still fit perfectly within the wacky UbiArt universe.Dastanovich wrote: Sat May 30, 2026 12:49 pm This is such a funny sentence cuz Origins Betilla was very much a different character, to the point I will forever consider UbiArt games a reboot. This new design isn't just a retcon, it completely clashes with the rest of the cast. Having a hyper-realistic fantasy elf standing next to a goofy cartoon frog like Globox is just very inconsistent.
I'm actually 100% on board with them adding a real story and trying to stitch the messy lore back together. That part sounds great, and you make a fair point about using the Legends name just to pull a bigger crowd. But when games like FF7R or RE2R reimagined their worlds, they still kept the core aesthetic soul of their franchises. This leak just looks like it belongs to a different IP altogether.
I really hope you're right and Montpellier's actual art direction proves me wrong when we see it in motion. We'll find out in a few days, but I'm definitely keeping my guard up until then.

Re: Rayman remake rumor - confirmed by Ubisoft!
This. Origins has such a specific momentum to its movement tech compared to Legends. If they try to standardize the physics to match Legends, it's going to completely break years of muscle memory and speedrun routing...Giant Chicken wrote: Sat May 30, 2026 4:24 am My only real hope if that the physics stay the same, and aren't changed to Legend's physics, but thats only because I dont know the movement tech in that game very well at all.
That being said, having the 60 Vita relics officially integrated into a console release is going to make for a really fun new 100% category to run.
Also, catching up on the Retold side of the leaks... if they are actually adding full cutscenes and talking characters to a Legends reimagining, I am begging Ubisoft to make them instantly skippable. Nothing kills the replayability and pacing of a fast platformer more than being forced to watch story dialogue every single time you replay a level!
Re: Rayman remake rumor - confirmed by Ubisoft!
They could do it. In Rayman Adventures the player could skip the intro cutscene but on the RL intro cutscene I'm not sureRaymanSpeedio wrote: Sat May 30, 2026 4:44 pm Also, catching up on the Retold side of the leaks... if they are actually adding full cutscenes and talking characters to a Legends reimagining, I am begging Ubisoft to make them instantly skippable.
