Top 10 coolest (playable) game characters.

I don't think there can be one set list of top vg characters. It's all a matter of taste.

No matter what, i wouldn't put him over the 4 coolest (in my opinion).
 
as i said, you obviously haven't played enough of the jak games. also, i'd put rayman lower down...he's alright, but he's hardly worthy of a #1 spot.

I have a different opinion than you. But i agree that i haven't played enough Jak. It's great fun.
 
he's just a limbless guy who barely speaks. he's hardly the coolest video game character.

9. Master Chief (an interesting super soldier)
8. Sonic (the speed!)
7. Rayman (he's limbless!)
6. Prince of Persia (his crazy combos)
5. Dante (crazy stunts and styles of kicking ass)
4. Leon Kennedy (control mechanism of Resident Evil 4)
3. Ryu Hayabusa (I haven't played the 3D Ninja Gaiden games but they sure look kickass; I enjoy playing as Ryu in the DOA games)
2. Link (Ocarina of Time!)
1. Mario (Plumber [master] of video games)
 
Yay for Leon Kennedy! As far as I know, it's gonna be Chris Redfield in RE5 though.

Rayman kicked more butt in R3. I remember how much fun it was to beat the crap out of Hoodlums and the rest of the bad guys.

Those who didn't play R3 at the right time may not appreciate it much now.

@Hunchman: Loved the RE5 trailer. But poor Chris Redfield is going to get stabbed a lot more than Leon hehe (by crazy zombies).

Hm...coolest...that really depends on taste actually, and what you think is cool. I would certainly add April Ryan(The Longest Journey) to my list, for sure. She had a really great personality, and one can't help but love her throughout the game. 83

I think Guybrush Threepwood also needs a place there...I mean, when someone comes up with the phrase 'Look, it's a three-headed monkey!', sword-fight with insults, and hold his breath for ten minutes(!), how much cooler can you get? XD

Rayman may not be the best(though he holds a high position on my list) he has a certain charm that pulls him out of the average. 83

Abe, from Abe's Exoddus(and most other Oddworld games)...I mean, he's just classic. Burps, does explosive farts, and even turns into a badass lightning-throwing creature. Give him some credit folks! XD

There are more characters I really adore, but these are just a few who popped into my mind at the moment. ^^

I just don't see how they are cool.
But i DO understand why you added the Prince and Master Chief. Big guns and wall walking are cool.

Mario and Sonic since old school. That's why they are in this retro gamer's list.

Mario may not seem that exciting compared to Master Chief or the Prince but that's a bad comparison. Super Mario 64, SMB classic, SMB3, Mario Kart, Mario Party, Mario Tennis, New Super Mario Bros DS, etc. I love these games and that's why the plumber deserves a place in my list.

Same would go for Sonic.

Sorry I just realised this thread says 'coolest' characters and not favorite characters. XD So does it mean that only characters that hold guns or can run up walls are cool? That's very common these days.
 
A character doesn't have to hold a gun or run up walls to be cool. Rayman doesn't do that, but he is still my personal number one.
