I've searched the Rayman 1 program files, but I wasn't able to find anything similar to the Rayman Designer files :(

Yes. It stands for Microsoft Network. But you could use a instant messaging client like aMSN or Pidgin.

Are they compressed in mean of something a'la zip, or are they compressed in sense there are no words, but simple bytes?

And I think you have got source code. You just need to disassembly it.

On a true note, why wouldn't UbiSoft answer a question like "Do you remember the language of R1 and compiler of it, or are all programmers from this period already out of UbiSoft?".

Please take a look at betillas garden. We decrypt the codes of rayman designer there and found some interesting things:

Yes, it is really interesting... however there are still some things there that I can't understand.

EDIT: And biggest problem is I haven't got Designer...

It's not about Rayman 1, but it has something to do with it. MasterRay has just discovered this! It's possibly a BETA portal that used to teleport you to a boss fight. Discuss!

Can you give us a link to the topic where this was posted ? Or did he sent it to you by e-mail ?

I think it is a portal to a boss fight with a sea boss. If we read the topic we might have more information to base on :wink:.

1: Would it be possible to modify gamesaves? As in, creating an R1 save in which you have beaten Skops, but not Moskito? Or something like that?

2: When you put the R1 PS1 disc into a computer, if you open the folder "RAY", then the folder "IMA", then "CRD", you find a text document called "RAYUS".

It's all the text in the game. And what I find quite intriguing is this: if you delete letters, type new ones, or otherwise screw around with this file, then exit it, it asks if you want to save those changes...what if you do save them? Could you actually alter the text seen in the game? That would be interesting indeed, but I'm not going to risk screwing up my disc...

You can copy the file to the desktop and when it doesn't work or you wan't the original text back you can drag it back in the folder :wink:

I've been looking on the save states, only my Rayman M save state has some readable text. The Rayman 3save state is encrypted, but i think their is a great possibilty that we can decrypt it. I didn't look on Rayman 2 yet tough.
