Actually, I discovered this trick before reading your post, and now it works all the time
Also, I've managed to get the hoodstormer in combo with the hoodmongers once, but I'm still losing my combo when jumping off the ledge, and also at the very end, just before breaking the piggy banks. I'm still far from doing it

The walkthrough (at present) gives up to 850,000 points, and 999,999 is certainly impossible. It may be updated though!

The first shows how to get the Matuvu for Josh. Basically you need to activate look mode immediately after touching the red gem.
The second shows a method for getting 9000 points. My mistake for saying 20 yellow gems should be collected, I completely forgot 9000 was the maximum value... I was thinking of another level. Anyway yeah, there probably are other techniques you could use, but this one worked best for me.
By the way, sorry for the bad quality of them. They were taken from my phone. Although arguably, they are better quality than my digicam xD

It's great to have all those incredible solutions here, now we don't care if RZ gets hacked again. Really, that Mandm is a true genius.
According to these facts, if your vortex lasted long enough to collect 20 yellow gems before the green one, you could get it for 1500 × 2 + 1500 × 2 × 5 = 18000 points. However, I remember some glitch in the secret room of the Summit Beyond the Clouds which considerably lowered the amount of points in the combo, so, I may be wrong.
Anyway, using the vortex is a better idea though, because it leads you to the same result (green gem in combo for 9000 points) but saves more gems (not that it makes a big difference, but well ^^). Thank you for that vid, it's great time I focused on the hoodlum combo and the green gem combo.
By the way, I have a question about maximum scores... how come you can't get more than 119.599 points in the Land of the Livid Dead, 109.359 in the Desert of the Knaarens, and only 99.999 in the Bog of Murk? I suppose it has something to do with bonus stages, but I wish someone explained it all to me ^^

Well, one of the great annoyances in the game is the fact that no green gem can be taken for more than 9000 combo points. 18,000 points would indeed be possible, 15,000 for the combo and 3,000 for the gem itself. Sadly the developers disabled our ability to get it for 12,000+, probably because the combo metre only has 4 digit spaces. Do you know how the combo system works after you get 99,999 points? This would be the answer to CF, TLOTLD, TDOTK, TSBTC, HH and TOTL. For TBOM things are slightly different, and every point is valuable. According to DTUCC, 100799 points are available, but I don't really understand how this works. This is exactly why I take the gems on the boxes prior to the ones on the ground... simply because it's easier to continue. Exactly. But I don't really understand how 100799 is possible in TBOM. It's possible to hit Razoff 5 times on his wrecking ball, but this doesn't kill him... It means 3000 points would have to be taken off the score before this combo, and I really can't see where to find another 3000 points in TBOM...Isn't it something like, once you reach 99,999 points, only the points in the current combo will be added? I found the trick of comboing a Matuvu and a gem, just the moment before you get the gem press the strafe button, take the gem and press the X button at the same. This works for me ^^

I think I now master the matuvu combo: I just did it three times in a row. By the way, the fact that I'm playing with my laptop makes it much harder: there's no zoom key
I'm still working on the green gem combo, and your technique is really nice, Xenon: I almost did it. As concerns the hoodlum combo, I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever do it. Getting the hoodstormer in combo with the hoodmongers is really hard, jumping off the ledge without losing my combo too, I'm also having trouble killing the first hoodblaster with the heavy metal fist in combo with one of the remaining red gems (that's actually because the camera is turned towards the opposite direction), and I have never ever managed to get the piggy banks in combo with the last red gem. However, I've found some way to dodge the annoying red gem above the plum post, which prevents me from losing my combo there. Damn, it will take me weeks.

The hard part of the hoodlum combo is not getting the gems above the plum post and getting the hoodstormer in combo. The rest is easy with some practice.

This is possible with some practice. I'm practicing on the helicopter combo now. It's hard when you runned away to hit the second splashdash but i think i know a trick for this, now to only test it

Hunchman, here's a little trick I used: Take one yellow gem from around the fountain then kill the three Hoodmongers. After this hit the Hoodstormer 4 times (or 1 charged and 1 normal). Then you can keep calm and just strafe around the fountain collecting the yellow gems, and you can shoot the Hoodstormer easily after the last gem. I'll have to admit, you lose 500 points, but you should still have enough.
And the piggy banks? Do you mean the ones at the end? If so, I empathise with you - these are very hard and I remember them ruining the combo on several occasions. Again, you have to use the take-gem-at-extreme-right-edge technique and shoot just as the lockon appears. It's a ghastly end to such a combo.
