It doesn't prove anything. The explosion of the ship is all but realistic from a scientific point of view, so, what can you expect from its consequences?
And besides, in Revolution a lot of the area surrounded by sea is also surrounded by really high cliffs.

You're right there. In fact, I can't think of a coastal area where there are not cliffs.

Exactly, and cliffs would be protection from any huge waves.

Note that ship was almost burnt in the most of pieces, and who said it was above the sea?
EDIT: Misspelling.

It is certainly above the sea when it explodes. You get to see it.

And there are many beaches throughout Rayman's world. Not surrounded by cliffs.

Hmm, are you sure? I'm struggling to think of any.

Skull Cave area? The Pier? Both in Revolution. In R1 there's Eat at Joe's. Also in R2 and Revolution, there's the BEACH AT start of TSOWAI. And too many to mention in RM.

There are grey cliffs there.
The Pier?
As in the Minisaurus Plain? Also grey cliffs.
there's the BEACH AT start of TSOWAI
There is a beach, but there's also cliffs.
And too many to mention in RM.
Name them please.

I didn't mean to type "BEACH AT" in capitals btw.

Anyway.

So what if an area is partially surrounded by clissf? The point is, the sea-facing sides of those areas don't have cliffs. They'd be destroyed if there was a tsunami.

Dawn Sand 1000 Waterfalls Water Canyon, I think there might be another one or two...some of the battling levels are by the sea, I think. Their cliffs are not in any position to protect them.

And you seem resigned to the fact that Joe is dead :dango:

Eh? What do you mean with 'sea-facing sides'? What's to say the cliffs aren't surrounding the islands? :dango:

I don't remember any. :dango:

The only one I can think of is Coconut Island, but that's just a small remote island so it shouldn't count. Can't think of any others at all :dango:

Actually I haven't played R1 so I can't argue my case ^^

I'm awaiting your response!

Spiral, to get to the pier you must descend a cliff. To get to Skull Cave you must go down an elevator to get to the bottom of....a cliff. Sure, maybe Skull cave would be flooded, and the Minisaurus plain may even become an extension of the marshes, but it wouldn't otherwise do much at all. :?

The Prison Ship would be cool in real life. (Although it would probably be like Outer Haven from Metal Gear Solid 4 :) )

You haven't named any, and since you haven't provided examples, your point is invalid.

Sunset Coast? Palm Beach? :|
Sunset Coast and Palm Beach are both surrounded by large cliffs. Palm Beach is actually inaccessible because the cliff walls are too large.
...
Yes.

You haven't named any, and since you haven't provided examples, your point is invalid.
Example: The river that flows into the sea near the beginning of the Minisaurus Plain.
Sunset Coast and Palm Beach are both surrounded by large cliffs. Palm Beach is actually inaccessible because the cliff walls are too large.
What about 1000 Waterfalls, Dawn Sand and Water Canyon?
Yes.
Eat at Joe's is completely open to the sea, as seen in the R1 world map.

So is the entire Dream Forest, in fact.

Example: The river that flows into the sea near the beginning of the Minisaurus Plain.
Ahead of that is another cliff (which somehow Rayman can pass underneath) so this would act as a defence.
1000 Waterfalls
The only part I remember being alongside the actual sea is towards the end, and there are cliffs there.
Dawn Sand
It's one of those weird levels where the whole track is amid to two walls, so water can't get in. Anyway, I don't remember seeing the sea there.
Water Canyon
Water Canyon is a canyon.

Even if ther is a sa, it should be noted that Dawn Sand etc. can be near to the bay. Bays reduce waves.

However, what about the Golden and Juice Isle?

Actually nothing, as most of ship burnt down.

Thus explaining everything.

Anyway, there are certainly cliff-less coasts in Rayman's world. If there weren't then the system of erosion and deposition just wouldn't work.

Why would erosion cause loss of cliffs? It could easily just devour rock while leaving the actual structure undamaged. Caves can even be produced, and Skull's Cave could be a result of this coastal process. And deposition has little to do with it... sediment can be dropped ahead of the cliff - The Pier being an example. On the other hand, realistically huge waves could have attacked parts of Rayman's world; I mean it's not like destruction could be measured from lands of heath, rock and other untouched terrain. Forests could have regrown and pirate buildings could have been rebuilt.

But anyway, it's rather pointless to be arguing about science and geography when we're discussing Rayman games. We can't expect Ubisoft to match utmost realism, else it would be insane. Interesting to think about, though...
