Rayman 2 Dreamcast DLC
The Dreamcast version of Rayman 2 had three downloadable minigames. Once they were on the VMU, they could be loaded the same way as a save file, and played.
However, there are no videos, screenshots or info on any of them, anywhere. So I think we should try and get some.
This site offers the downloadable content for a bunch of Dreamcast games, including the North American version of Rayman 2, which may or may not work on the European version of the game.
So...would anyone who's managed to get R2 DC working like to try out the DLC I linked above and see if they can play the minigames?

Re: Rayman 2 Dreamcast DLC
I actually had all three of those but I think they're gone now. If I could remember what they all were...
Re: Rayman 2 Dreamcast DLC
Uh, quoted from the site you linked...
So one of them is the game you get to play at the end of R2 PC, another is a minigame that is in Rayman Revolution ( probably ), and I don't know the circular shooter. One game is a sidescrolling shooter using text letters. Another is a circular shooter where you are fighting enemies eminating from a central point in some sort of spa. Then one is where you are collecting lumes under a certain timelimit by grappling your way up into the sky.

Ah I remember the circular shooter one now, Rayman was sliding about a circular arena and shooting stuff. This one is definitely Dreamcast exclusive, I've never seen it anywhere else.

Re: Rayman 2 Dreamcast DLC
I had downloaded all three of these a long time ago, and I no longer have Rayman 2 on Dreamcast. Menezis is definitely one of the minigames, which you could get better screenshots if you wait until the end credits at the end of Rayman 2 (after getting all of the lums of course).Drolpiraat wrote:Uh, quoted from the site you linked...So one of them is the game you get to play at the end of R2 PC, another is a minigame that is in Rayman Revolution ( probably ), and I don't know the circular shooter. One game is a sidescrolling shooter using text letters. Stacey is right about the circular shooting game, that's also the only other one I can remember as well. I want the say that last minigame none of us can remember is in Revolution, but it's very possible it's not as well. Maybe I'm wrong since my Dreamcast memory is hazy.
The weird thing is, it's not really downloadable content since they are just save games that take you to the room where the minigames are. So if anyone could hack the Dreamcast iso of the game and find how to start in those rooms in an emulator, you could take screenshots just as well. I'm not sure if downloading to VMUs is hard work now though.
And the REALLY REALLY weird thing is, I have gotten to one of those minigames on accident while playing on the Dreamcast without downloading the saved games. I was swimming in one of the little pools in the Globox village and suddenly text came up on the screen saying something like, "Congratulations you found a minigame!" and transported me to one of the three. I have no idea how I did it or if it was even triggered by swimming or I pressed a bunch of buttons, but I swear it really happened even though I was no able to make it happen again. Maybe someone with the Dreamcast version can look into this?

Yeah, sorry...I read that when I first came across the site a few months ago, then I completely forgot that it was even there. o__oDrolpiraat wrote:Uh, quoted from the site you linked...
Anyways...
Minigame #1 seems to be Menezis, which was also playable in the PC version of R2 by collecting all the yellow lums and sitting through the credits,
Minigame #2 seems to be a mysterious Dreamcast-exclusive, and
Minigame #3 sounds like the Grab Challenge from Revolution.
~The Dreamcast version has three other unlcokable minigames as well, called The Disk, Pyralums and Weblums. These three are also found in Revolution, but under different names.

The circular shooter looks like it plays like the GM game Radian.
Hey, a friend might pick up a DC for me, and I'm going to look around for a copy of Rayman 2 for DC. I'm considering doing a Let's Play or something of it, or maybe just do a sort of comparison video series of it and Revolution, since they're both the "later generation" versions of the game.

I just got an intense feeling of deja vu for some reason.StaceyW wrote:Ah I remember that first and second one really well. =}
Did we have this discussion before?
Re: Rayman 2 Dreamcast DLC
Well, we had the Dreamcast DLC conversation before.
Re: Rayman 2 Dreamcast DLC
Next week I'll get the DC version of R2 on my mail box, and a friend of mine will lend me a Dreamcast, I will finally be able to play the Dreamcast version.
