Can anyone help with Rayman 2 PC?

So I have vista and I would LOVE TO GET RAYMAN 2 WORKING!!! I have played this game ever since it came out and I have every version including Revolution. Here is my problem is the CD. I think. Only because the demo works just fine.
 
It's not easy to run the game in Vista sadly because it's so old now, coming up to its tenth year. And I think you'll find that even in compatibility modes and stuff lots of people get the CD missing error - this thing right here

 
Ok so there is a step up. BUT I still cant get vista to even recognize that the Disc IS NOT BURNABLE. yah so I cant install it that way. SO i install it into VPC and copy rayman2 folder over. Then the contents in WINDOWS\Ubisoft and edit ubi.ini to match what its supposed to be. So Heres what wont work: Rayman2.exe and SetupUbi.ex/Setup.exe all dont work. so the only "exe" that does work is GXsetup.exe everything else wont launch as explained before. (And they all are in compatibility mode for WinXP Service Pack 2. and ran as administrator. Im stumped

So I clicked Rayman2.exe and it does start but before it does you have to wait 2 hrs and it said "Rayman2.exe has stopped working"
 
Sorry I can't help you but a year or two ago I bought the PC Fun Club (or something along those lines) version of the game, and it works fine on Vista. It must be a newer release of the game? Rayman 3 was available in this series too, if I remember right. I did, however, get that missing CD error message that StaceyW posted but there's a patch on Wanted Rayman that fixes it.

HOOOOOO Thank god for you!! you have opened my eyes a bit further. I just bought Rayman 2 The Great Escape PC but the "Revival" version which came out in 2004. It should be in the mail in a few days. Also I have the original version for Rayman 3 PC and it works perfectly on vista. :mrgreen: But Rayman 2 is better and I want it to work damn it! :oops2:
 
I have the original 1999 version (I think) and it works on Vista. I got it for Christmas in 2002.

I have the rayman 10th anniversery edition disc. Its purpleish...and not vistaish :pascontent:
 
You mean Rayman Gold? No, it was excluded because it runs on DOS and doesn't work with 2000/XP/Vista without a patch.
 
Before you throw money away on another computer that doesn't like Rayman 2, are you using 32-bit or 64-bit Windows? Rayman 2 doesn't work on 64-bit, so if you're using it you should get 32-bit Windows and install it side-by-side with the 64-bit Windows. I don't think any Rayman has worked with my old computer without it being taken to the shop.

OK what If I have a xp 64 bit?
 
No, it won't work on anything 64-bit. You'll have to get 32-bit Windows and install it side-by-side with the 64-bit Windows.
