Pictures of yourself!!!

I'm aware of that. I wished to 'continue' with the 'discussion' of the 'giant mechanical tripods from Mars' after the 'argument'.

~Hey look, a giant mechanical tripod from Mars:

Just to clear things up, the things that bug spiraldoor also bug me, maybe more so, but I just keep my trap shut.

That's not exactly a tripod from Mars. It's tripod-like. It's more like robotic tentacles. Much like those on Dr. Octopus.

EDIT: My latest jib-jab

So do I, perhaps 90% of the time.

No, it's definitely a tripod. You can see three distinct legs. The robotic tentactles are for manipulating their surroundings (I think they captured people with them, too, but I can't be sure; it's ages since I read it), and do not affect their leg-count, which is three.

It's an illustration from 'The War of the Worlds' by HG Wells, which was written over a hundred years ago.

I downloaded and read a PDF version of it (it's been out so long that the copyright has expired, so it can be legally downloaded). I was familiar with various other adaptations, which got me interested in reading the original. I was surprised by how normal the language was, I was half-expecting it to be like Shakespeare or something.

Acarr: The Spielberg/Cruise film did not do it justice. They brought forward the setting a hundred years, moved everything to America, removed all references to Martians and messed around with all the characters. Not win. Though I did like the tripods in that version:

The triPod... yes...

I first saw that clip on YouTube without being aware that it was from Scary Movie... I think it was actually funnier without knowing where it was from.
