Rayman coming to DSiWare

I've never understood all the hate for Rayman Advance. I know the sound quality is decreased and such but it's still the same game and it still looks and sounds great on the GBA.
The music and the artwork were what made R1 what it was -- the music in Rayman Advance was a horrible midi rendition, bad even by GBA standards. The graphics are surprisingly good given the system it's on, but in comparison to the original they're terrible (especially what's become of the large sprites). They may have kept the gameplay intact, but that's not what R1 is about.

And you were expecting, uh, Rayman 4?
He was expecting something along the lines of R3 GBA or RRR1 GBA: a new game.

What I'd like to know is why the silver bars are BLACK in this. Also I'm not digging the DOS sound effects.

Probably to make things easier as it contrasts against the background or something.

I don't understand what they did with the bottom screen, it seems totally useless.

Not useless: stupid. Putting in a map makes things easier and ruins the game! They've completed dumbed down this classic...

As nonsensical and fucked-up as this is, I'm finding myself drawn to it; curious to see more of its horrors.

~Six health points! </eagle-eye>

They should've put recorded live footage of the gamer playing the level for the bottom screen.

Hold the phone... there's 10!

Black bars? Uh, why change that again?

As for the 10 health points, that's either the developers doing a debug/test-run or that's holding the player's hand with a passion. Though, if Nintendo is going to take the leap of creating a game that plays itself for you, than why the frig not, I guess. >: |

O...K... Black pentagrams, some PC-version sound effects, changed sound of "ducking", TEN points of health... and a map to locate Rayman...

How much do you wanna bet that they removed the Super Helicopter cut-the-ropes level? :tssk:

Nah, they probably have a message come up one the touch screen saying "HEY KIDDO! ALL YOU GOTTA DO IS FLY NEAR THE ROPES TO CUT THEM!" and they have a safety net covering the water at the bottom so you don't drown.

I'm with you all the way on this.

Besides the levels where it's an intricate maze, it gets pretty useless. Did you see the part where it's just showing your Rayman Avatar floating in space as you are jumping through the clouds?

Anyway, man this was sort of a disappointment in the fact that I was hoping Ubisoft wouldn't screw up. I guess it was dumb to hope that.

Unless there's something amazing that's going to be going on in this release that I'm not seeing, this looks about as useless as Rayman advance.

This is pure horror... it scares me! :confus:
The extra HP is probably on the low difficulty level though. The "high" difficulty level probably has the 3/5HP again, right? RIGHT?
I'm curious to see what else they've changed though. We still need to see the bonuses.

Also, I think they changed the blue/white-ish bars to black so they would be visible on the map.

And here's a review by IGN that mentions how the camera is used. You guys were actually right. XD
