Help Pirate-Community and get bonus Tings!

It seems a lot more logical, considering messages like "Dog > Cat" are not at all worthy of 5 Tings.

This is why we've been contemplating creating a "Chill Out" subforum for OT. Unfortunately I don't think it's going to happen. :(

Some forums don't even add to the members' post counts for posts in the OT forums. But if we implemented such a system here, most active members would lose a few thousand from their post counts, and five times as many Tings.

Why don't we just delete such games topics like word to word? They're annoying anyway.
Some are quite significant. Look at The You Game; it's the largest thread we have and it's got posts going years back. I don't think it should be deleted.

Locking it, however, I would have no problem with.

The You Game will be neither locked nor deleted if I have a say in the matter. I think the game topics need a seperate subforum where you can't earn post count or tings, though.

Do you think this should be retroactive? That is to say, should our post counts decrease by the number of posts we have made in forum games, and our Ting counts decrease by five times this?

If it were to happen, it would be the case for postcounts, but probably not for Tings: scores of members who gave a lot of Tings would end up with a negative amount.

I don't think Record Day posts should be added to our post counts at all (given that 97% of them are useless), but Tings earned on Record Day should be retained (otherwise, people would have no incentive to post on RD any more than they do on normal days).

To give people a reason to participate in Record Day, which is the same reason why we receive more Tings per post on Record Day than any other day.

To be honest, I'm starting to wonder if there should actually be a record day next year, or at least if we shouldn't change the whole idea.

Maybe I didn't phrase my question correctly. Would people earn Tings for all posts they make on Record Day?

All posts including ones in forum games (in the event that we do create a "Chill Out" subforum for them)? I suppose so.

A post count should represent how a member has contributed to the forum. A Ting count should represent how well a member has contributed to the forum. On this basis, Tings should be lapsed for useless messages (ie, ones posted in forum games) but increasing post counts should be retained.
