bleh... what the hell did you improve now?

Congratz MandM for the WM-Title! I'm also curious, what did you hack this time?
Well, I read through the thread being bored, started to get nostalgic and replayed Rayman 3 due to that. I'm acknowledged by the fact the activity is near zero, still I could motivate myself to start again yesterday. I'm now at BOM, Part 5 with 66k, aiming for 100.799.

Thanks! Yeah, it's been quiet for a long time now. For me it's been due to a busy semester. However, I had some days off after the midterms and I replayed my favourite level. That is, I got half way throught it. When I finish that level I will post my score.

BOM is a fun level, although Razoff can be a frustrating experience, both in part 5 and 6. Good luck with it.

I still have TLOTLD to play with, but at the moment I haven't sufficient motivation to start up the old PS2 again.

Your score is still missing in HoF, but as I remember an improved score from LOTLD will take you way past 850k? That should be an incentive, and the level is great fun from the first combo to the last.

I managed to finish FC this morning and I will post my score as promised. I left a few hundred points behind, so I'll have to replay it later. I just wanted to pass 48k in FC and 858k in total. I still have SBTC and LS to improve as well, so there is still quite a lot of work for me to do.

Wait, what did I say again?

Oh, and by the way, if we don't manage to improve the matuvus in part 2, this should be the maximum. At least I believe that I maxed out every other room in FC.

What about the videos? I've recorded almost all the combos I have. I'll finish the videos when I get a chance to, and I really can't wait to see yours

Yeah, I was a little bit surprised when you announced a maximum score for FC.

I guess you are ahead of me when it comes to making videos. I have been busy catching up with the time I lost last year and have focused mainly on scores and combos. I will return to FC and then I will be where I want to be scorewise in that level. I'll make videos when I have picked up these remaining points.

Please feel free to release your videos. They may inspire everyone trying to get a really good score in FC.

Anyway, you have time to catch up on me in FC. I'm sure you can close the gap.

I don't think I can since I have no idea what to improve. Did you manage to get the matuvus in part 2 for 1250 points in combo?

and how did you play that missing vortex combo? can you get more points out of it then me because you have the vortex?

I thought you didn't want to discuss details in FC. When you thought you had the maximum score in FC you didn't want to answer my questions and reveal any details about your game. And you certainly didn't reveal anything about the Matuvu in part 2 and how many points you got from it. And I guess that's where it's at. It's a fierce competition at the moment and I respect that. All I can say, you have to be really creative to find those extra points.

Edit: I'm still away on the seminar, but if you want my input on the Matuvu in part 2 it would be easier if you tell me how much you get from it. You worked on 1.250 combo points, did you get that? Or did you get it for 1.000 points? Or did you settle for your already acquired score of 750 points? If you want to keep the way you get it secret from me it's ok, just mention the score.

However, you're right. I'm going to investigate FC again as soon as I have the time to. When doing that I'm going to record my last few videos and finally upload them. I've been stalling this too lang already. Obviously, the videos are going to answer your questions as well.

Unfortunately it's not enough of an incentive. I'll try and re-enter my score for the second time though, when I have a few spare moments.

Thanks! It took many years to tame those Matuvus and Tribelles, but I'm finally comfortable with them now.

Anyway, I'm replaying FC now, hopefully for the last time, but when I need a rest I play TOTL part 2 for fun. I'm still hoping to crack this part and get enough points for a new maximum score in this level. I'm not too optimistic though. I believe the maximum score after part 1 is 60.000 points, and it requires immaculate Lums conversions. After part 2 I guess one needs around 97.500 - 98.000 points. For that to happen I need to find 8.000 more points than I usually get. If I had the Lockjaw on top of the revolving platform from the start, then I could get 6.000 extra points and thus I need to find 2.000 more points. And then I came to think about the Elite Monger that waits in the first room after the revolving platform. He is usually killed with the Lockjaw in combo after one of four yellow gems for 500 points in combo. However, there are plenty of yellow gems above, so maybe one could get him for 500 or even 1.000 points extra? The water does rise quite fast though, so maybe it's mission impossible.

If you start playing TOTL again sometime, we should perhaps try it out.

Ok, then how about this: I have (almost) the recipe for a new maximum score in TTOTL. I managed to conjure up a rather large combo in the big room in part 2. So far it takes me to 96.000+ points after part 2. I just need 1.500 - 2.000 points more in order to realise a new max. score. However, thinking about the Lockjaw glitch that apparently only occurs on PS2, it would certainly be possible on your platform as this Lockjaw glitch earns you 2.300 - 2.500 extra points.

But thinking about playing a perfect game in parts 1 and 2 is making me dizzy, not to mention the last combo in part 3 that makes the Hoodstomper Combo in CF seem like a walk in the park.

If you start playing again, let me know if you can trigger this Lockjaw glitch. I will send you the combo in that case.

Yes, I've always been pretty sure a new maximum was available in TTOTL. Are you going to go for it? I'm guessing you'll be aiming for at least 60,000 after part one, which seems like a reasonable target considering its difficulty. I've never really studied part 2 though because I never took the new maximum score seriously enough to give it a shot myself... but I do remember the Hoodstormer combo at the top of the large Knaaren structure was devilishly difficult... and on top of that, you've got Lum conversions to consider. Good luck if you're going for it!

By the way, the large combo in the third part isn't that challenging. Sure it takes a bit of figuring out exactly where the aircrafts will pop up and when to fire the shots, but once you've mastered that the whole thing's pretty straightforward. I think I achieved it (or came very close to it) when I played TTOTL, and I remember it was this success that enabled me to reach the 'old' maximum.

I seem to remember from the old days that players were able to get 5.000 something in combo from the Hoodflyers in part 3. I never got more than around 4.500 points myself. Anyway, I never really bothered looking into this Hoodflyer thing until now. Last night I made a video of the combo and I watched it frame by frame to count how many Hoodflyers there actually are. It seems there are 41 Hoodflyers by my count. It yields a combo of 4.620 points.

Now 42 Hoodflyers would give a combo of 4.770 points, 43 would give 4.920 points and 44 would give 5.070 points. Could it be that there is a different number of Hoodflyers depending on the platform? Have you ever got more than 5.000 points from the Hoodflyer Combo? If not, what was your biggest combo so far?

I would like to have a go at a new maximum score in TTOTL, however, a gain of merely 120 points might not be the biggest motivator. For sure, I need to figure out the mystery about the missing Hoodflyers. So if you fire up the old PS2, let me know what you can make of this combo.

I'm almost certain I exceeded 5000 points in combo, so I'm equally as confused. Mostwanted claimed he had reached above 5000 points too if I remember correctly. Are you sure your calculations are correct? I'm assuming your Hoodflyer count only included the ones that would appear in the lagre combo?

It is weird. I have played the combo most of the day and I land on the same number of Hoodflyers. And yes, I only count the Hoodflyers in the big combo. As for the calculations, the combo for 41 Hoodflyers should be 4x30 + 5x60 + 5x90 + 5x120 + 21x150 = 4.620 points. Then one can add 150 points for each additional Hoodflyer.

If you find the time one day, can you make a video of the Hoodflyer Combo?

It's possible that only PS2 players can connect an additional strand of Hoodflyers. That would uncover another disadvantage to you. But I'm not sure, and yeah I will try and make a video if I play TTOTL in the near future.

When I do play again I'm sure it will be TLOTLD first on the list, though.

Yeah, maybe that's the case. Do you remember where you start your Hoodflyer Combo? I mean, in the second room the first strand of Hoodflyers consists of 4, the second of 8, the third of 4, the fourth of 3, the fifth of 29 and the sixth strand of 5. I stop counting here. In order to get 5.000+ points I guess you start the combo at the second strand?

To be honest I really can't remember where the combo begins. All I know is that it's in the second cubic room. Probably after three or four small sets of Hoodflyers or something.
