Well, I'm guessing using CryEngine will speed things up a tad.

Re: Rayman 1.5: Revenge of the Dark
On the engine thingy: I have to say that you're quite original.
No really: what mad man would come up with the idea to build a platformer on an engine for a FPS
Oh, and don't do the Rayman and Raygirl having a child thing. It's a beautiful idea, really, but you'll introduce a too big plot hole. Since in the beginning of Rayman 2 Rayman recognises Globox as his friend and now thanks to Rayman Origins we know that Rayman has known him for almost as long as he'll can remember, that means that in Rayman 2 and later the protagonist actually being Rayman's sun just can't be true.
But again, very nice idea.

I think Rayman has enough plotholes that you won't notice it.
I'm still keeping my idea.

Re: Rayman 1.5: Revenge of the Dark
Sounds great! I'm looking more forward to this then I am with origins. Especially since it's getting released for ps3
Re: Rayman 1.5: Revenge of the Dark
First of all, I'm not one of those persons who complains about tiny details and that doesn't want you to try new things with Rayman.I think Rayman has enough plotholes that you won't notice it.I'm still keeping my idea.
But you're going to introduce such a major plothole with your game that it might break the continuity of the entire series.
No really, there are so many reasons why from Rayman Origins until Rayman 3 the character can't have changed. The most prominent being the one I pointed out earlier. Then comes the question: how come he has the same name throughout the entire series? Then explain why we never hear anything about Raymans mother in the rest of the series? Then explain why we never hear anything about the father, the original Rayman, and the rest of the series, because Globox is there and has known that father quite well, it appears? And the list goes on...
If you're going to introduce a game in between series, you must be careful to not break the storylines of the adjoining games.
Of course, It's your game, do whatever you like. Just telling you about my concern.

Re: Rayman 1.5: Revenge of the Dark
Oooh boy... looks like there's another person with concerns, except they decide to actually voice 'em!
I'm too paranoid about killing Ray9876's motivation to keep working on this, plus I'm too lazy...

Re: Rayman 1.5: Revenge of the Dark
Good point. But remember, this game is still in a very early stage and Rayfan hasn't actually worked on a cinematic for this moment. So it can be easily adapted ( if wanted ).I'm too paranoid about killing Ray9876's motivation to keep working on this, plus I'm too lazy...
Re: Rayman 1.5: Revenge of the Dark
I think you are taking it a bit too serious. It`s a fangame after all, and I like it when fangames do stuff that you would never see in official games.Joshua822 wrote:First of all, I'm not one of those persons who complains about tiny details and that doesn't want you to try new things with Rayman.I think Rayman has enough plotholes that you won't notice it.I'm still keeping my idea.

But to be honest, I also don`t like the idea of rayman having children, but it doesnt bother me at all - as I already said, it`s a fangame.
Re: Rayman 1.5: Revenge of the Dark
Well, as long as this will stay a fangame I will not mind it. I will even support it actually! It's a very nice way for Rayman to have a child and to come to the end of his life.I think you are taking it a bit too serious. It`s a fangame after all, and I like it when fangames do stuff that you would never see in official games.![]()
But according to Rayfan's plans, this game might be released into an official part of the series and that's why I can't help but feel that the story of this game should end differently and in a way where Rayman will live on. Because I'm afraid that this game might knock the continuity of the series so hard that it will break down.
Rayfan, I'm really not trying to break you down and to demotivate you from finishing and releasing this game. But please, just keep the rest of the series in mind, so the stories of Rayman 2 and Rayman 3 keep their values.
And as I said, if it were for a fangame with no plans whatsoever of getting released, I would support your idea. Fans can make up any story about Rayman and his world, even if it collides with the storyline of an official game. But I want the official games to be in good alignment with each other.

Ah, ok. But WHUT. As an official game?Joshua822 wrote:Well, as long as this will stay a fangame I will not mind it. I will even support it actually! Sorry RayFan, I don`t want to sound rude, but that plan is totally unrealistic and it`s extremely unlikely that that will ever happen. Ubi Soft has it`s own plans for the games and they would pretty much never sell a game that was made by fans, especially not if there are new characters in it.
But still, as fangame this game would be totally incredible.
Re: Rayman 1.5: Revenge of the Dark
We'll have to see. I never saw any fangame that got published, but I never saw any fangame that failed to got published as well. But WHUT. As an official game?

You mustn't have read it properly. He has seen fangames, but he has never seen one that tried to get published.Tenderz wrote:That sounds just like you never saw a fangame :/Joshua822 wrote:But WHUT. As an official game?

Re: Rayman 1.5: Revenge of the Dark
That was indeed roughly what I meant. You mustn't have read it properly. He has seen fangames, but he has never seen one that tried to get published.
I don't believe that it's impossible for a fangame to be released: I never saw any fangame that tried to get published, but failed at this, and I never saw a fangame that tried and got published.

Re: Rayman 1.5: Revenge of the Dark
MMMorshew, sorry, this is literally the nineteenth time I've explained this.
I'm not some lazy fuck who will be like "oh damn" if they say no over the internet. I will literally do whatever it takes to get this published. There is no way I won't.
