This is my first post on this forum, so....yeah.

This is about a game me and my team is working on, called Rayman: Dark Era.
It's a 2D platformer, made with Game Maker, that we try to really polish, and make it look nice and smooth.
Nothing much about the story yet, but the gameplay will mostly be like a mix of Rayman 1 and 3.
EDIT:
I figured I could tell some more of the gameplay. Like I mentioned above, the gameplay will be a mix of Rayman 1 and 3. We will try to make interesting levels, with unique themes and settings. Gameplay itself will focus on platforming and combat. You can pick up power-ups to get new skills for a limited time. These include the ones from Rayman 3, along with five new. We're gonna try to make a bunch of original enemies, but we can't promise that it's gonna be that many. But, one thing's for sure, and that's that we're gonna throw in a bunch of level gimmicks, both new and old. Mostly new, though.
Well, that's all for now, here's some pictures.

More info might soon come. If you want to know more, check out http://hedgisoft.blogspot.com/

Have you considered changing the health bar to bubbles? All 2D Rayman games so far have used the ‘bubble’ health system.

Except Rayman Hoodlums Revenge.

awesome job i can´t wait to see more really the healthbar is good i prefer it than the bubbles so and he can makes his own game he must not use the bars like the rayman games.

Okay, if healthbars are so annoying in sidescrollers, there's a bigger chance for me to reconsider the health system. Might do it, anyways.

EDIT:
We've soon finished the game engine, so stage production might soon begin.

EDIT:
By the way, I remembered I made a video of some engine features some while ago. It's a little old, so there's more features to the game now than in the video.

The engine already looks smooth. It needs a bit of polish for some details, but overall, it looks well.

And get rid of the current health bar. I'm sorry, but solid red rectangles are downright ugly. You shouldn't drop the concept of a health bar directly by the way. Whether or not to use the Rayman 1 system of little dots, or the Rayman 2 / 3 system of a health bar should depend on how many hits from a weak enemy it takes to kill Rayman, in my opinion. When a weak enemy needs many hits to kill Rayman, I think that a healthbar takes the current status better to the player then a system with circles does, and when a weak enemy needs few hits to kill Rayman, the opposite effect occurs.

Well, the health bar is only beta. As stated before, I might change it to dots, but I doubt I will. If I'm gonna keep the health bar, then I will surely give it some better graphics and make it look much better than just a plain, boring, ugly red line.

I wathed your timed zones engine test, and it looks good so far!
One question though:
Isn't the music from Ty the Tasmanian Tiger?

Uh, yes, it is. I'm gonna have custom made music, which my friend will make, but until then, I use music from other games.

Hello Hedgehog. I actually first discovered your game a couple of days ago on YouTube.
I am the primary maintainer of the RayWiki entry called "Fangames" that you've edited some hours ago. I think this game has some potential, since it's being well-organized and detailed, so I will leave it on the list. Good luck. :)

Ok, been a loooong time since I've updated this. I have not been working a lot on the game lately. After giving it some thought, I decided to restart the project, so that I can make a new engine that's alot easier to work with. More info hopefully coming soon.
