Honestly I think you're living in the past a bit, I've found the original Crash games aren't really that great having played The Wrath of Coretx and Twinsanity.

Not really; they are simply better games. Let’s see if GameRankings agrees with me (since Metacritic doesn’t have all of the games listed):

Crash 1 (80.40%)
Crash 2 (88.54%)
Crash 3 (89.07%)
Wrath of Cortex (70.12%)
Twinsanity (66.38%)
Crash of the Titans (71.9%)
Mind over Mutant (75.5%)

In other words:

Crash 3 > Crash 2 > Crash 1 > Mind over Mutant > Crash of the Titans > Wrath of Cortex > Twinsanity

It seems that the critics completely agree with my assessment of the original Naughty Dog trilogy as the best games of the series, with each of the sequels improving upon the greatness of its predecessor. I may disagree about the placement of some of the Traveller’s Tales and Radical Entertainment games, but frankly it doesn’t matter. None of those games were very good anyway, and Crash of the Titans is what caused me to stop giving a damn about the series.

I liked a lot the first game of Crash Bandicoot, I loved the 2nd. The 3rd has got more improvements and bigger gameplay complexity. It reminds me I stopped at 74% in the emulator...

For some reason I cannot run CTR in the emulator, I don't get it...

Despite of having played few minutes on Twinsanity, I quite liked the graphics.
