Hello,

I want to play Rayman M over the LAN. As such, I've downloaded Rayman Arena (a multi3 torrent or somesuch). It worked perfectly on my main PC, which has Windows 7 and is quite modern. Obviously, for LAN, I needed to install it somewhere else too, which I attempted to do on my laptop. However, when trying to run the RM_Setup_DX8, it gives an error; can't find the entrypoint of procedure _except_handler4_common of the DLL-file msvcrt.dll (translated, so it could be slightly different). I''ve tried many things; downloading two kinds of msvcrt.dll's (one from a thread on this forum), downloading some vcredist thingies, but nothing worked. So, what do I need to do?

Hmmm, in system32, where (I think) I have to put the msvcrt.dll file, something strange is going on. Whenever I put my msvcrt.dll file in it (overwriting the original one), it reverts back to the original one. How can i prevent this from happening, as perhaps this is the cause of my error?

Well, I''ve read that that reverting thingy can be fixed by removing the msvcrt.dll from a map called dllcache. However, that map doesn''t exist (well, I can''t find it)...

hey dont bump it after an hour man, alot of people here are in Europe, and are going to sleep/are asleep.

and im an idiot at computer stuff so i cant help you there D:
 
That was unintentional, as you can read in the first post. :P Besides, it's around 21:18 in most of Europe, people won't be asleep that early.
 
No, only Rayman Arena.

EDIT:

Well, I've managed to remove that file from the dllcache, so that I could overwrite it in the system32 folder, but it still doesn't work (I've tried both msvcrp.dll's). Can't I just simpy copy the Rayman Arena from my PC where it does work?
 
I'm actually having this problem as well when months ago I was trying to set the game up in XP mode on my Windows 7. Not sure which is even the right DX for it on a VM.

Does the XP mode even support GPU rendering?
 
Got no clue, it's either set the PC version up right or use the PS2 version on PCSX2...

You can't uninstall it like any other program, it's a component of Windows itself.
There may be unofficial methods, but they could damage your PC in the process.
Just curious, how do you run Rayman M?

As for XP mode, a quick google search shows that XP mode does not allow for DirectX applications to be run.
So trying to use XP mode for Rayman M is pointless. ( I think anyway, could someone who is more technologically experienced than myself check this? )
 
This is wierd, I tried to run the game in Windows 7 and it booted correctly. I should try again on Windows XP.
