Did you guys hear about this?


I get that they want to stop the streaming of TV shows and Movies on the internet but what the hell???
:up: Just shows where the goverment is heading.

So what do you guys think?

I think this law is just for the US so im gessing olny Americans are gonna get the hammer if this law passes. But it will affect American sites like Youtube and such.
 
I don’t really give a damn about streaming (the only thing I’ve ever streamed was that Ubisoft E3 conference a few weeks ago). Unless ‘streaming’ in this instance refers to pre-existing stuff like YouTube videos, in which case, yes, this is definitely bullshit.

Seriously, what the heck is this?

It looked like a story about copyrights that I was told a couple of years ago. It hadn't "neither feet or head" as a Portuguese phrase says.
 
This obviously won't pass, it's just going to cause much more harm. This bill affects everyone, because it affects people who upload to american hosted websites. So, while we don't seem like it'll affect us, it will.
 
Well, the thing is, it very well could (I haven't heard any news on this as of lately, so they might have even voted on this already). There's some big companies lobbying in on this. And really, the most that will happen is that hundreds upon thousands of youtube videos will disappear, and we'll all continue breaking the law, intending to do so or not.

If anyone is worried about this bill affecting gaming streams (let's plays, game reviews e.t.c.) then don't because they won't be affected as videogames fall under derivative works, So even if this does get passed we'll still be able to watch AVGN and Chugaconary. The embarrassing thing for most Americans is, I'm from Scotland, I'm 14 years old and I know more about the effects of a bill their own government created.
I would post a link to were I got this information, but I can't right now, if you search "Bill 978 - internets are a rage" on youtube you'll probably find it.
 
Damn, another eason to wonder why I moved to America. I'm a European!
If I won't be able to use YouTube, then I will make this my offical favourite chat website. :)

Trust me Henchman, i've had a series of unfortunate events starting since the day I moved to America.
I will go back to somewhere in Europe in a few years, so I will simply have to get over that for the rest of my time. Personally, I don't find it all that bad. I have hate against the strange humor from things such as Machinima. I would prefer for them to have their videos blocked. What exactly is a ''game video''? I upload game music, so I take it that it considered into that category.

For the last two (almost three) years i've been active on YouTube. Only about two months ago did I actually make use of my Pirate-Community account. The people here are much nicer, less spam and I find it a very good community with mature users. If my home website doesn't allow me to upload my work, I wouldn't mind to simply change this to my new internet home. :noel:
