Sorry if I'm mistaken); that would have been someone else at RayFist's house. I was already wondering if I should ask about it or just drop it in case I mistook one of the voices for yours... and accidentally insulted you.
Nah, I'm a male-to-female transgender. That was Rayfist and I. I've just recently started vocal training to teach me how to speak as a female, and that video was before then.

The Real Rayman wrote:Here's a bit of info about my magic fist from the RayWiki:
The manuals for both The Great Escape and Revolution contain a short story detailing how Rayman came to be captured by the Robo-Pirates shortly before the beginning of the game. According to this story, Rayman lost most of his powers, including the magic fist, when the Robo-Pirates destroyed the Heart of the World. This indicates that Rayman first received the magic fist at some point between the events of Rayman 2 and the previous game, and that he was already acquainted with the ability by the time he regained it at the beginning of Rayman 2.
This made me think about your game, where I first meet Ly. Will she upgrade my telescopic fist from the first game to my magic fist from Rayman 2?
Yup you got it mon ami!

Hmm... don't you mean from 'inbetween' then? 'Cause I heard both two males, as well as a female. So that would be you practising you new voice, no?

And I love a bit of background story detailing why powers transform into new ones. Ooh! Don't forget the story of how Rayman supposedly washed up at the Glade of Dreams. Wow, I hadn't even thought of the implications an inbetween game would have - meeting all the characters that were introduced in Rayman 2 sounds like fun!

Oh, one thing again about modelling, as this 'meeting characters' thing got me thinking about it. Are you including Clark? If so, how were you planning on doing the arms? I looked at them in Rayman 2 the other day (I'm playing the game again, for one because I love it, but also to learn how UbiSoft did certain things in the game so I can see if I want to do the same or take a different approach) and I noticed they're quite complicated. They don't exactly look like real muscles, but they do look pretty good. Hmm... maybe I can take a few screens from him in the Menhir Hills from the top, front, right and back for us all to study or use to remodel him. What do you think?

Oh yes, and your sig still has the '1.5' thing in it. Don't know if you wanted to remove that or not.

Oh, thank you. :mryellow: I didn't even think my voice sounded convincing in any way. Well I guess we're our own hardest critics!

It's definitely fun to think about and plan all these things. :) Interestingly enough, I always considered the Glade and the world from the original to be the same place, but I guess they aren't. In reality though, the Woods of Light is not Rayman's home, it's just a place underneath where the Prison Ship flew, so I still think the Dream Forest is his home. As for the power upgrading, I have something in mind, but I'd rather not say it at the moment. Send me some pictures of what you mean with Clarke.

Great! Thank you!

Also if you include Clark will you include Carmen the Whale? I think the best of the current levels to place her in would be The Crystal Isles - though she could also appear in a new level of course.

EDIT:

Rayman 1 took place in The Valley, and Rayman 2 took place in The Glade of Dreams. From the RayWiki:
In the games, the valley is clearly located beside a sea or ocean, but its exact geography is not clear. However, a magazine article from approximately 1996 containing official information on the now-cancelled 2D sequel confirmed that the valley where the original game took place was indeed located on an island, saying that Mr Dark had vanished from it prior to the Robo-Pirate army's invasion. Rayman's island is not marked on the official map of the Glade of Dreams that was included with copies of Rayman 2; however, a small group of islands marked ‘Archipelago’ is shown off the mainland of the Glade, in the bottom-left corner of the map. It has been speculated that one of these islands is Rayman's island, and that the valley is located upon it. Indeed, the perch of earth from which Mr Dark observes Rayman in the original game is across a body of water from him, supporting the notion that Rayman's island is part of an archipelago.

Wow it feels so cool to have people mention and expand upon things I've created (such as the Crystal Isles). It makes me feel like I'm making a real fan-appreciated game. I'm not even sure if I'll end up having Clarke or Carmen in the game though. Sometimes squeezing everything from multiple games into one will end up seeming too earnest for nostalgia.

And yep, they did take place in different places, but in Rayman 2 it never mentioned his homeland now did it? That gives the freedom to say Rayman's homeland has always been the Dream Forest in the Vally.

Well, look at this image from the Wiki page for Clark, for example.
Image
The upper arms are more like puff balls and the lower arms are short in length too, although they match his body perfectly. Also, his shoulders seem to portrude out of the rest of his body like orbs. The geometry is quite complex, so maybe if I took some detailed pictures of him, it would be useful. Just inquiring before I run off and try to do it, which might take me the rest of the day since my PrtScrn doesn't work in Rayman 2; I've got a program that might do the trick, but if it doesn't, I will have to figure out another solution and that will take a while.

Also note that his chin is hilarious, but that is not the point right now.

Lol at the chin comment.

I don't think I'll have Clarke in this game so I won't worry about that for now. :)

Actually the Dream Forest is the land I was born in. From the RayWiki (again):
Pink Plant Woods, also known as the Primordial Forest, is the first level of the Dream Forest, the first of the six worlds featured in the original Rayman game. It consists of four parts at the first time it is played; when it is replayed, it consists of only three parts, as the third part was the one in which Betilla the Fairy gave Rayman his telescopic fist power.

In addition to being the first location visited in the first game, these woods were also the location of Rayman's birth, as shown at the beginning of the prequel game, Rayman Origins.

While this location is called la Forêt Primordiale (the Primordial Forest) in the original French version of the first game, it is renamed to ‘Pink Plant Woods’ in the English localisation. However, Rayman Origins reverts to a direct translation of the original French name.
And
Rayman is born in the Primordial Forest, indicating that this jungle is in fact the Dream Forest from the original game
So your story is in fact true!

I know, I know, but that extra bit of info just makes this idea ten times more awesome. :mryellow: Also I noticed in the Wiki it said that on the Glade map that an island on the archipelago might be Rayman's home land. Maybe those are the Crystal Isles and it turns out that there's a hidden challenge on each one of them only thought to be a legend that gets told to you by the Musician while he's boating you through Fort Night?

Bam, best Idea ever. :P

Good ideas!

Like I quoted before:
the valley where the original game took place was indeed located on an island
So the Valley lies on one of the islands you can see on the Glade of Dreams map. That island is my homeland, and that's where the Dream Forest is located as well - the Dream Forest is part of the Valley.
That's just one of the islands though. Then the other islands would be where the Crystal Isles level takes place.

Exactly!

Also I updated the front page with a character for the Musician as well as an extended overview on Fort Night, the Crystal Isles, and the Shrine of Myre.

Ah, it's nice to see the Musician return! I like the story-telling role he plays in the game - it suits him well.
