Well, not really, as VDM is not a compatibility layer, whereas the DOS runtimes would have been natively executed at Application Binary Interface (ABI) point. The virtualized MS-DOS version is not genuine either. It does still emulate the legacy driver subsystems such as SoundBlaster, albeit with incomplete and limited implemetations, which shortly explains why the Rayman sounds was all messed up.
