MosKito's Nest of Artwork

Post by MosKito »

Now this is definitely a section I can get behind posting in.~ eue

Before I get into the art I wanna give a bit of backstory. I haven't been a Rayman for a long time.

In fact it's only been about a month that I really have. It was only when I got a Nintendo Power in the mail one fateful day with the cover of it featuring the beautiful artwork of "Rayman Origins". If it wasn't for that article I still would probably be one of the many people out there that don't even know who Rayman is outside of the Rabbids! (though I may be one of the few that likes the Rabbids and him both)

Within this past month now I've managed to buy and playthrough both the fantastic Rayman Revolution & Rayman Hoodlum Havoc, watch through an entire playthrough of Rayman 1, as well as all four episodes of the animated series, find some fantastic songs from these games to listen to thanks to RayTunes, swim through endless amounts of interesting facts on RayWiki, draw more than enough doodles to make a gal's hand fall off, and to top it off be INCREDIBLY excited now for the upcoming release of Rayman Origins.

Now then with that all out of the way, lets get on with the art~! (I made all of them links rather than images otherwise this post would've been TERRIBLY stretched. x___x)

http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2011/ ... 47qcol.png - This was the first Rayman I had drawn a month back, and he's not exactly the center of attention in the picture either. :roll: This is actually my current deviantID that I put together at the time to basically represent all the stuff I was into, and still am. :wink: Though- I've been playing a bit more Plants vs. Zombies than I have been Angry Birds- eh.

http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2011/ ... 47tken.png - This would be my futile attempts at drawing Rayman in more "my style" rather than the official one, as well as practice my Globox. Goodness knows I'm not good at drawing Globox. OTL

http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2011/ ... 48n4ii.png - Skip to quite a few pictures later and you've got probably my favorite sketch thusfar, and the sketch that spawned my ever-so-strange idea of pairing Murfy and Betilla together. The idea sort of came out from when I was listening to "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", The Tolkens version, and I pictured Murfy as the one singing it- but I couldn't think of anybody that he was singing it to until a little bit later when I saw the wiki article of Betilla and then poof- this happened.

And yes I like drawing classic Betilla better. >:V

http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2011/ ... 49cfjs.png - I got plain fed up with trying to draw Murfy at different angles so I just slapped a reference sheet together so I could get a better idea. Also threw in a classic Murfy for good measure. :fou2:

http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/ ... 49oppt.png - At this little point I got stuck for ideas of what to draw, and deviantArt being one to have copious amounts of meme's I went on a hunt for some rayman ones and when I found this first one by MLII I got so over excited with filling it out that... I ended up doing two entire other ones! xDDD http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2011/ ... 49rh8g.png http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/ ... 49s1hc.png (These would also remain my only colored pieces of Rayman art for the moment, since schools been pretty hectic all I've had time to do really is sketch)

http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2011/ ... 4a10s8.png - Skip over to another game for a minute, Terraria. After I finished playing through Rayman 3 I got a real itch to still do Rayman related things. And since I've been having fun playing Terraria I thought a really cool thing to do would be to recreate some of the latest Rayman Origins artwork right in the game! Currently I'm almost finished with a piece of Rayman himself I've been doing, and soon I hope to do other characters like Betilla and Moskito. (And yes you would see Globox's food to the right there but I got rid of it since working with water physics to fill up about %95 percent of his body wasn't exactly the easiest thing to try and attempt. xP)

http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2011/ ... 4a799z.png - Now I'm sure some of you DeviantArt users might recognize this, I put it together recently to use for myself as well as let any other rayman fans use for their journals. I've seen on a LOT of people's pages though that the box and text end up all misaligned, and I've concluded it's something to do with what deviantArt adds onto the actual code in order to automatically install it. I've set up an alternative way of installing the journal though in order to bypass this, so if you're wanting to use this on dA or are already using it but are having problems, just peek over here: http://piranha2021.deviantart.com/art/R ... -259045855

http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2011/ ... 4aj8mg.png - This is where I really started to make Betilla my own as far as developing her. Somewhat like I've done with Murfy and my own interpretation of him as you've seen. I wanted to more or less do a "Present day" design for her. One that incorporated her more reserved and adult design of the original game, while also incorporating her newly attained limbs, and the playful more teenage look of her Rayman Origins appearance. Also I made a haphazard attempt at drawing Ly which came out, okay. :fou2: I still think I've got a ways to go with her.

Image - And here we come to my most recent piece, one that I finished just this afternoon in fact. xDDD My very first pair of custom shoes, and despite some setbacks overall I'm really happy with the turnout. Of the whole project, the fabric markers were actually the most expensive to get, the shoes were on sale when I bought them and were actually of all things the cheapest. xDDD Essentially I tried to draw all the major characters of the Glade of Dreams on just two shoes. On the right front you see all the main male characters (excusing Clark, because he'd take up too much space and really he's not one of my favorite characters :oops2: ) while on the left you see all the main female ones. On the insides and outsides I respectively drew the main villains from each of the four current sets of Rayman games, along with some of their lackeys- and on the backs I drew Polokus/The Bubble Dreamer himself along with the original Rayman logo. :>

Anymore Rayman related stuff I do I'll likely post in this thread, along with putting it up on my dA if you want to check it out.~ :wink: I have a short fanfic I've been working on for a few weeks, with the main character of it being Murfy but also major appearances coming from Globox, Rayman, and even a few villainous characters of my own. And though I've been staving off the urge to share ANY of it until I get it finished, (I'm up to 27 pages now and SO close to the finish line) if anybody would like to see it I do have an exerpt of it in mind I'd be willing to share. It doesn't spoil any of the plot and it's fairly close to the start of the story.~ ;P

As far as other Rayman projects I've got more than enough artwork in my head I've been thinking of doing, and I've actually got some sewing projects related to the series I'm wanting to make after taking care of my commissions list that I've got at hand. Primarily making a Rayman sweater to go along with my new shoes. eue And also a Globox or Rayman plushie like you've seen in some of my pictures above, maybe even others like of Murfy or the Grand Minimus.

I hope you guys all enjoyed what you saw and I can't wait to post more in the future. 8D

(I decided that I'll have my latest piece of work done an img to be seen right in the post rather than a link, that way people just having a glance at it can see my most recent stuff and if they want to look back at other things they may, rather than having to scroll through all of it at once before getting to the newest stuff at the bottom. :wink: )

Aaaah yes, I know you! I know you quite well from DeviantART. :mrgreen: I've always loved your style, you probably have my favourite cartoon-styled Rayman drawings I know of. I mean, look at that Moskito! Jeez, that is so damn cute.

I want those Rayman shoes now by the way. Fork 'em over.

You do? 8D I had no idea! Do you have an account on there? I might recognize your username. B) Well I'm very glad to hear that you like em', I wish I had more time to do more colored pieces- but I could say that about most of my gallery. What with school the most I have time to do is to make sketch after sketch after sketch. xP HOPEFULLY though I can get into coloring some of these things because there's a lot of things I can do with color and lighting that I just can't evoke with pencil shading alone. :pfff:

You want em? You'll have to come n' get em' from my cold dead hands. >8D (Or rather feet in this case >XDDD)

Yep! Although I can't remember if I commented much, I don't have a tenancy to comment as much as most people. ;) I use RayFan9876 everywhere, including DeviantART.

I remember you.~ I sent you a reply saying I never forgot them, all 650 something of em. xDDD If I forgot he had them then why would I have even drawn them with him in the picture from the 3rd meme or any prior pictures to begin with? :fou2: I still don't really get how you got the impression that I did, musta been how I worded something in the description I suppose that confused you, so I'm sorry if it did. xB- but regardless glad you like the drawings. xD;;

OH THAT- that... wow that completely blew over my head. >XDDD I knew very well that they had kids (that's why I drew them in the 1st and 6th panels) but I think when I got to that panel I was thinking of my favorite pair from the 2nd meme and not the one from this one, and since the pair from that one didn't have kids I ended up doing the pie pelting rather than drawing the globox children. My bad, I get what you meant now. :fou2:

I went ahead and finally made my own signature. I haven't done the paper cutout style for a while so I thought it'd be fun to try again.~ :> It's not the greatest background I've ever made in a picture but it get's the job done. xD;;

I'm not selling the shoes, that particular pair at least. xD;;; I wanted a new pair of m' own and that's what I made them for. :proud: And even if I did sell there's no WAY I'd charge that much. :shock: Especially when they only took me $40 total to make!

I've very much been considering these past few days opening up shoe commissions alongside the other commissions that I do on deviantArt (most of them being of plushies and hats, but I'm open for regular art as well) So if you actually have serious interest in a pair of your very own, ring me up in a PM or on notes through dA and I'd be more than happy to talk with you over the details. :> (Shoe size, shoe style, actual designs to go on the shoes, pricing, ect ect- While I wouldn't mind probably remaking the same picture if I had to on another pair, it still wouldn't look exactly the same as what you see in the post up top, so feel more than free to come up with another design.~)
