It gets on my nerves when I read comments of portuguese players in gaming websites that "it is a nice game to buy only when it gets in the 20€". What's curious is that when it is about other kind of games like Sonic, or other mature game series, giving away 60€ or more right away isn't a problem at all.

Things go into fashion and then out of fashion, and I know it sounds doubtful, but I believe there will come a time when shooters will lose their popularity and be succeeded by another genre.
However, platformers aren't dead yet, Mario, Sonic, Rayman, Ratchet and Clank, LittleBigPlanet and some others still remain.

The problem is the fascination with shooting and war, which appears to be starting at an earlier age these days. I, however, find it sad how it came to be. When the NES and Sega Genesis were released mostly every concept was new (Even the 2D Sidescrollers), and it went on like this all the way until the PlayStation 2 and the XBox were released. The consoles were so hugely focused upon war and shooting that it seemed nearly impossible for it to have ever sold well.

I will admit to liking Half-Life, but it stays by that. Call of Duty is just as repetitiveas the basic Mario game. And, Nazi Zombies has got to be the most idiotic thing i've ever seen.

Personally I have no problem with FPS and TPS games, I play them a bit too. The problem with them is that they've engulfed the whole community of gaming, and blocked out all other forms of game. Just yesterday I was trying to convince my friend that 2-D platformers are just as good as 3-D shooters, but he wouldn't listen.

Again, I have no problem with shooters, but people really need to get a grip and try other games.

I have nothing against the shooting genre as you must admit, it's quite immersive. The problem I have with some games though is that so many shooters lack originality. So many shooters literally copy other games in almost every aspect. Games like the Half-Life series and Far Cry/Crysis are examples of more modern original classics. They were built from the ground with their own ideas, not based off the ideas of another popular series. I was sad to see Crysis 2 become a completely generic city-bound FPS that so closely resembles CoD. Currently in the "popular shooters" genre there' two main rivals: CoD and Battlefield. CoD is pretty much the exact same game over and over again with a new campaign and new multiplayer maps, whereas Battlefield is actually a growing series. I think Battlefield is taking the shooting genre in the right direction, at least moreso than CoD. However, no matter how much better I think BF is than CoD I still think it lacks originality. Crysis 1/Crysis Warhead (they're the same story but Warhead follows a different character) was the last fresh and original shooter I've ever played. Unfortunately in order for Crytek to make more money they had to genericize Crysis 2. It's too sad to see the idea of conformity pull tighter and tighter on its draw string. Before we know it, even real life will have a desaturated, contrasted colour filter over it JUS LIEK IH WAS BACK IN WER WAR TUU.

I've played a lot of shooters and the only ones I enjoyed were the Unreal Tournament series and Gears of War. Every other game is like beer to me: I look at people trying it, I get excited, I try it- it's horrible. Over and over. I'm kinda interested in the new FPS "RAGE".

the last time, you can find these people everywhere, i'm happy Rayman is getting an come back, many people i know, don't know Rayman at all
