The Wii U looks just fine. The name is the problem. I don't find Wii U a bad name, but it will cause the same trouble with the 3DS. It will cause idiotic conversations like these:

PEOPLE! THE 3DS IS NOT A DS WITH 3D. IT'S A NEW CONSOLE. THAT'S THE ANSWER TO WHY YOU COULDN'T FIT THE FUCKING SUPER MARIO 3D LAND CARTRIDGE IN YOUR DS. IS IT REALLY THAT HARD TO FIGURE OUT!!!!???!!!???!!!!?!!??!!!!?

The 'Project Cafe' or Nintendo Feel would have been better. Making new designs of their old consoles doesn't seem to work.
 
It does not need a stand since it was redesigned to be just horizontal.

But it is a pity because the Wii had more charm when standing up in vertical.

The original Wii could be horizontal as well. The fact is Nintendo tries to push the most of the Wii right now before the Wii U season, and given 3DS problems they are not going to sell it at loss - so they removed some functionality and the stand.

By the way I just realized that removing GC compatibility may actually make hardware sense for Wii U - and kinda for Wii too, but I doubt they noticed it or bothered to utilise it. On GC games have direct access to pads and drive, but Wii turns off those pathways so games have to connect to everything through Starlet. In Wii U they may remove those old pathways altogether.
 
The 3DS has sold very well over the past week, and Super Mario 3D Land has become the best selling handheld Mario game ever.

That's an.. odd video.

The fact that it's being sold with the 3DS is hugely improving the sales. More is expected next month due to Christmas. Finally some good news for the Nintendo fans.

It's stuck as Mario and Sonic because Sonic Retro userbase started to make sexual jokes about S&M at Olympic Games.

When will Nintendo start making new systems and not redoing the same one? I love nintendo from the day i unpacked my NES but I am mad about the fact that they arent making a new system they just continue to revamp the same with smaller size, bigger sceens and bigger styluses. At this point just use a pen. I also noticed that they continue to remove features such as game boy compatability. When is there going to be a handheld nintendo system that isnt DS(insert upgrade here)?

Nintendo delayed the Video Recording update for the second time, now they say it will be only be available next week. I don't know what's going on with the company lately, they aren't like this... Honestly, now I wouldn't be quite surprised if the GBA Ambassador games wouldn't arrive anytime this month. :?

Who really cares, the 3DS already has the crappiest camera I've ever seen in my entire life. It's like pointing a Blackberry Curve camera through a bowl of mashed potatoes. God, the picture quality would be better if they only had the mashed potatoes.
