He was in a trance, unconscious, so he just fell limp.

Fairly good, in fact right below is soundtrack part 22. Other than that I'm waiting until the Winter holidays to continue working on the game itself. At this point I'm almost certain I won't be able to achieve this doing 90% of the work myself, so I'll eventually be gathering dedicated people with skills in each category. I don't mean dedicated as in doing good work or being commonly responsive and available, I mean both combined. If possible I will soon apply for a YouTube partnership who's revenue I will pay to others on the team. The reason I'm willing to do this is because, after some thorough calculations, I've found that a partnership would provide me with approximately $1,300 per month.

Anyway, here's part 22!

1. "The Ice Volcano: Sacrificial Chant" - 0:00
2. "The Towering Timbers: "A Sandy Conundrum - 1:01
3. "Starlight Peak: Lightshower" - 3:29
4. "Starlight Peak: Not Sure if Flirtatious or just Serene" - 3:50
5. "The Land of Unimportant Proportion: Various Ventures" - 6:34
6. "Into the Blaze: Lullaby" - 9:50
7. "The Final Act: Omniscient" - 10:22

Track info:
  1. Everything in this track is recorded with a Shure SM57 microphone. No work done in Logic here. There are ten separate clap tracks, two djembe (African drum) tracks, a didgeridoo in the last third, and a bunch of vocal effects. This track takes place while approaching the little gang of ignoaraymusses (Beagonix's species) preparing to sacrifice Joe to Magmont. I had a blast recording this one, I just let out the most exciting and random voice effects I could.
  2. This track is mostly composed in Logic with an electric wha-guitar track recorded on top. This plays when arriving on one of the islands in the Crystal Isles in the level called "The Towering Timbers." It takes palace during your first invasion experience on a pirate ship.
  3. After Raven shows you the beautiful aurora on the edge of Starlight Peak, the two suns reveal themself over the mountain tops and golden
light pours upon the two characters. In this track a Chinese violin, and "erhu" is used.
  4. Rayman tells Raven that he needs to go on alone and that he'll be back for her as soon as he's finished his quest. You platform Rayman across the cliff side only to find that Raven has been following you at a distance, and Rayman is confused whether she's following him to help or because she's attracted to him. In the track a drum kit with a snare brush are utilized, and we have an alto sax, later joined in with another.
  5. In this track Rayman has set out upon the great landscape of Vectoria, eager to find the secret of the island and gain the respect of the queen. The landscape is varied and unexpected, so watch out Rayman! No special instruments are used, but it was inspired by the Kirby franchise.
  6. Aboard the ship of Hyperborea in the level "Into the Blaze" (level concept by Wariofan), the Captain's child Chalka is sitting in a crib on the lowermost quarter. He dissaproves of his father's antagonistic loyalty to Dark Rayman and it's up to you to ensure that he remains safe. The instrument used is a celesta, a variation of the piano that involves bells.
  7. The final scene of the game, largely cinematic based, is none less than a shocking discovery. After Rayman unleashes one final blast toward Dark Rayman (reference to Spanex's artwork), he gets blasted off of Dark Moskito, who is knocked unconscious and races toward the ground far below, Dark Rayman lands, face down on the pillar that you had just previously scaled and dueled on. Dark Rayman appears to be dead. In celebration, Raven, Moskito and Moskette begin cheering, though Moskito stops almost immediately to see that Rayman's focus is elsewhere. Rayman suddenly begins piloting back toward the pillar towards Dark Rayman, provoking confused responses from the pink team. Raven shouts to you in confusion: "What are you doing, that thing could come down any second... Rayman!" But you ignore her, and run toward Dark Rayman only to suddenly get blasted across the pillar's peak, onto your back. He struggles to his feet and then seems apparently in perfect condition. You notice that you feel fine as well. You both stand across from each other, a blank look on Rayman's face and another blank, slightly smirky look on the antagonist's. "Why aren't you dead?!" Rayman yells. Dark Rayman doesn't respond; Raven and Moskette continue to plead, even more intensely. You shout again: "Why aren't you dead??" but Dark Rayman snorts, but it's not a snort of confirmation, as not even he knows. Suddenly lighting strikes the pillar and it begins to crumble, and Raven and Moskette scream "RAYMAN!! What are you doing?!? Come on!!!" You both glare and begin platforming up the falling pillar as is crumbles until you reach the peak, then you both freeze. Rayman's O glows and Dark Rayman's X glows, and suddenly you are sucked together, instantly sending the screen into a completely separate "memory," where it almost looks as if Rayman's light and dark side embryos are swirling around each other. Through this animation, a startling truth is revealed, and limp in a trance, the one and only Rayman falls, down and down with the pillar as it collapses.
So, again, which track is your favourite track?

The Towering Timbers: A Sandy Conundrum is definitely my favorite. Yet I'm also in love with The Land of Unimportant Proportion: Various Ventures which reminds me of Yourfavoritemartian's Unofficial Smithers Love Song.

Don't sign up your RotD things for revenue though - they contain copyrighted material: Rayman. It's one thing to design a fangame and hope to make money out of it, but it's another to actually do so without Ubi's consent. That's bad mojo right there. Reaaal bad mojo.

As for my oppinion on the tracks:
1. I'll enjoy hearing this in-game. Like the wild tribal vocals.
2. This has a nice feel to it, but I would suggest trying to make some variation to go with it. It's fine like this, but if the music persists for longer, it may get annoying to some (I know a few people who would have already disliked it after a half a minute in).
3. Nice little jingle you got there.
4. The saxes give a real nineteen-hundred's romance feel, if you know what I mean. Romantic music in films always involved these instruments with similar tunes to accompany them. I like this song a lot.
5. This one sounds quite cute indeed. Like the organ in here. The recurring theme played by the piano at the end is a nice touch.
6. It really feels like I'm being swept into a child's mind and ideas here, which is, when I read the information, what is supposed to happen. Really touching at some parts and brilliantly devised in the whole, if I may say so.
7. Didn't read the information as soon as I saw that it would involve spoilers to the ending of the game - and yes, I really try to avoid spoilers as much as I can. I love to be surprised by film, books and games, as opposed to knowing what will happen. Back to the music, it's dramatic and sounds a lot like the conclusion of a game, as it is intended, I'm sure. It's got tention and suspense and also excitement mixed in. Great job!

EDIT: [Hmm... after looking at the song tracks' starting times, I realise I mixed up 6 and 7 into one. I believe the last two comments placed in 6 were intended for 7.]

Your music score is looking good! It's funny how you mix in a lot of different styles and keep each new track fresh, as opposed to what I'm planning on doing, which is a few basic themes which I will expand and include in most tracks - especially the main theme will be recognisable in a lot of songs. Keep it up! :D

GOLLY this is looking really excellent! I've been looking through this thread a bit, and I definitely find it most interesting to look at the 3D models. I haven't listened to the soundtrack yet but I am planning on doing so sometime later.

Oh that old cover is wonderful and the new one is even better! :D

Yes I have a strong interest in CGI and 3-D modelling. I'm learning (Teaching myself) to use Blender at the moment but I'm not too pro at it. :oops2: I just find it interesting the way CGI worlds, characters and objects are develloped and animated.

Get 3ds Max, don't use Blender. 3ds Max is now free for educational use, so by all means use 3ds Max. It's far better than Blender, though Blender fanboys may care to disagree. It is mostly a preference thing, but 3ds Max is much more efficient in almost every category, especially when compared to Blender's stupid camera controls and bubbly design. Blender works completely different from other 3D modeling software, so much so that once you use Blender you're stuck on Blender and cannot use other programs. If however you start off on 3ds Max or Maya, it's easy to adapt to many other 3D programs, just not Blender.

It's pretty much of double standards that you call them "fanboys", but it might rather be a bitter hatred to the the former UI, as I've pointed out in the previous post. I am not even a fanboy in this situation, as I haven't fully got into 3D modelling yet. But I have played a little with several 3D construction and manipulation tools, including Blender, 3Ds Max, Maya, LightWave and Cinema 4D, both prior to and following after the UI revamping that Blender got. My conclusion was, they're all excellent tools, but with different learning curves, all depending on what workflow you feel most comfortable with. People might either like the "bubbly design" or not. They might even just install new themes, and you CAN reconfigure the camera controls, if you accept or like customization. My point is that "better" is subjective in this case, as they all share similar features, in which you can produce virtually the same results. Though from the objective perspective on the most powerful features, both Maya and Blender would win by a far margin. But they all do target some different interests, whereas Maya would be more suited for larger production pipelines, big budget movies and other industry work, while something like 3Ds Max would be more suited for game development, visualization and commercials. Blender is mostly general-purpose, but can be suited for either of these, because of the expandable animator, non-linear sequence editing, video export options, scripting capabilities and built-in game engine. But sometimes, you do have to use specialized tools like ZBrush, if you want to do sculpting more efficiently than any of these complementary tools, for instance.
RayFan9876 wrote:so much so that once you use Blender you're stuck on Blender and cannot use other programs
False, and pretty desperate said. Most people are fully capable of adapting and getting used to new environments and stuff in a pretty short timespan, in disregard to their routines. It mostly depends on how you perceive the given context when matters of same category, because you can always learn something new. By analogy, who says you can't learn two languages at once, even if they're fundamentally different, or perhaps even too similar? As I've just stated, all 3D modelling tools differ in their learning curves. But it might be slightly more accessible between 3Ds Max and Maya, as they're both from Autodesk, in which they share some few design principles.

So come on RayFan, let people choose themselves. If she doesn't like Blender, don't you think she automatically would go and look for an alternative?
Have you even forgot what I've said about my former classmate who taught himself to Blender just easily? Please for once, remember this post.

Btw. Awesome tracks.
Nicely done with the cover image, but I do prefer the old one though.
Maybe you can combine both designs and make something even better? :)

I still do 75% of the composition with MIDI, and I find that portion actually goes a decent bit faster than warming up and preparing to record and mix an acoustic track. Though that's probably because I only have lack of a better studio than the relatively small space in my room. :)

It's mostly the dark blueish tones from the old one, it's more pleasant to look at. I also see too much glowing variation with the reflected light in the new one. The old one also had more details and smoothness on the background rocks with far less noise, while there appeared to be more layers with ambient light covering them. I would also suggest to seperate him slightly more from the logos, particulary the hair and shoe, as it looks like he's in front of them, but you could also oppositely cover him even more with the logos, like he's holding one of them, if you further spread his hands. One more idea could be a little of static motion blur in balance with sharpness. Otherwise, it still looks great.

Well there hasn't been a 1.5 in the title for a long time, but it still takes place after Rayman 1.
