I'm just worried about that new I read which said RO's sales would affect Ancel's "liberty"

Call of Duty and Skyrim are great games. There’s no need to bash people who enjoy them just because you’re butthurt over the sales of Rayman Origins.NotaKuroi said:Rayman has a bad sales because gamers think that 60 dollars for "XBLA game" is too excpensive. Also all gamers love COD and Skyrim.Stupid people... *facepalm*
Indeed, I blasted through Uncharted 2 in a single twelve-hour sitting. On Christmas Day, no less. Forever alone.AJack said:People beat much longer games than Rayman Origins in less than one day; hell, I hear about people knocking over AAA titles in a single sitting.
People can enjoy what they want to, don't be a hater.NotaKuroi said:Rayman has a bad sales because gamers think that 60 dollars for "XBLA game" is too excpensive. Also all gamers love COD and Skyrim.Stupid people... *facepalm*
I disagree. I'm sure the game not selling well is the result of releasing it at a time where tons of other high profile games came out and selling it at full price. It would probably have helped alot to have it come out this month with a lower price tag.spiraldoor said:Maybe changing the game to a retail release wasn’t such a good idea after all.

sergiomonty said:By the way, that notice is awful, I can't believe it, the game deserves more costumers!...however, they're somehow right, I mean...come on, look at the price! I got it cheaper because it's on wii, but the graphics suck balls! (kinda)
AJack said:Luckster said:$60 IS too much for this game. While there are some challenging levels, it doesn't take long to beat if you have the time to sit down for it. I beat it within 3 days (not in a row) of renting it from Gamefly and collected all but 1 electoon cage without use of a guide (can't locate the first one in Why So Crabby?).
People beat much longer games than Rayman Origins in less than one day; hell, I hear about people knocking over AAA titles in a single sitting. As for the Electoon cages, I don't think they're really supposed to be that difficult to find, what with the 'Help me!' sound effects and all.
AJack said:Luckster said:There aren't that many levels, and the replayability is lacking heavily, even as far as playformers go. There isn't any storyline to speak of. It's all up for interpretation. So that leaves little to desire when you want to wrap your mind about something.
You think 60 levels isn't enough? 60 levels, all playable in 2-4 player co-op, all with two Time-Trial challenges, all with multiple awards for Lum collecting? That's not enough replayability for you? I'd be interested to hear of any recent platformer that comes close.
As for the story, try telling that to the countless millions of people who line up every year to buy the latest Mario 'Oh no, Bowser has kidnapped the Princess!' Bros game.
AJack said:Luckster said:Perhaps if they hadn't rushed the production of this game (I've heard that there was supposed to be a much deeper and better explained plot, which would include a showdown with "Mr. Dark" at the end) and thought more about making the replay value higher, the game would have sold better.
Adding more story elements wouldn't have had any effect on the sales at all. Probably not even a single copy.
AJack said:Luckster said:Even as a Rayman fan since the original game, sorry Ubisoft, this just isn't worth $60 to own. I will probably be waiting until it's in the bargain bin. 8|
Also, it's unfair to blame another popular title for the bad sales of another. Their target audiences are vastly different.
The overlap is much bigger than you'd think. The allure of high review scores is enough to drag a lot of people in who wouldn't otherwise pay attention, but many of them don't have enough cash to buy every game they'd like to.
AJack said:Oh, and while I'm here, who wants to know how many copies 'New Super Mario Bros Wii' sold? 22 MILLION. Seems like a lot of people were happy to pay $60 bucks for that one.
Cairnie said:Over here I think we've had a bit better advertising, for a start with Brian Blessed [he did voice for that Kirby game as well], plus there's a promotion on right now at Cartoon Network's UK site: http://www.cartoonnetwork.co.uk/rayman [I'm a big kid, I entered just 'cause].
Oh well it's not like Rayman games hadn't sold at all, the fact that Rayman 1, Revolution and 3 all became PS platinums should tell us something, plus poor sales aren't always discouraging.
Electoon said:I can't say i ever saw any TV advertising over here though. Having said that, I don't really watch much TV these days (limited access to it) - but I'm sure someone else in the family would have said if Rayman was on the screen, so no...I thought advertising was weak in that sense.
Having said that, it currently has some really cool displays in all my local GAME/Gamestation stores, with cardboard cut outs of Rayman and the like![]()

Aside from this, I'll stay optimistic and say that this is just a rough start. This game has caught the attention of fans and non-fans alike, so it seems odd that it would be the least successful in the series.
sergiomonty said:Rayman won several new fans? Yes. He lost a lot of older fans? sadly, yes, because they're idiots.
Yeah, those retrofags who don't accept Rayman's change and say "NO WAY, I HATE RAYMAN NOW, HE'S A CHILDISH PERVERT, THE RABBIDS JUST RUINED HIM ADSFSAFA" or those who say "I would have prefered a serious 3d rayman game, like rayman 2 or 3, this game is just a crappy flashgame". I know tons of Rayman fans that left the franchise just for this, and believe me, they're missing an incredible gaming experience.
It's strange because I never really noticed that the Rayman fanbase was so broken before Origins was announced. It probably has something to do with the fact that most people here like all the games.sergiomonty said:Rayman won several new fans? Yes.
