Yes, I once had a dream where I got caught up on a broken up escalator at Marks & Spencers, and it was labelled out of order. That morning, I went to the very same M&S, only to find that the up escalator was out of order :shock:

But, anyway this is completely off topic now. I do believe we were talking about Rayman....

But isn't this the exact same thing? Where do our Deja-Vu experiences come from? How come we recognise something we experience later in our life from a dream we once had earlier on? Sometimes there's days or mere hours between the dream and the experience, sometimes there's years. What is this precognitive feat?

And more importantly, how can we harness it to discover the true meaning behind Rayman facts such as the Mr Dark Magician now, as opposed to the future, when it will be officially released? :P

I had a dream this night that you would be sending me a PM that was relatively long and involved a quote, but the quote was from Kurui for some reason (most likely because I was talking to her all day on the IRC yesterday). So I wake up, I notice I have a PM, I open it, it's relatively long, and it involves a quote, but it was your own quote.

Interesting theory. I myself would explain it differently - but that is because my view on how the Universe continues along its timeline is deeply connected. I told my father once what my theory is and apparently it is highly coincidal with that of the buddhists. So there you have it - I'm a buddhist in mind!

Also interesting, though this one confuses me, especially because when I have a Deja-Vu spawning dream, I know I will experience the Deja-Vu later in my life. What you're saying is that because of a malfunction in the brain something that is perceived now is connected to something you think you have remembered, but never actually have - am I correct?
I have to dispute this - I sometimes have predicting dreams and wake up forgetting them. Though remembering the dream itself is hard, the sense that I will experience what I have already dreamt about is very strong. Now this one coincides with your theory, because I don't actually remember anything, but when it happens, somehow the connection could be made, causing me to assume I must have predicted the future.
However, sometimes I have the dream and I remember it - and keep remembering it up until the moment that the event actually takes place. How can this be explained in your theory? Well, the theory you may have heard somewhere perhaps - I don't know if it's yours or not.

By the way, I'm not knocking you, I'm just really interested since this kind of things has always intrigued me.
 
I believe dreaming is something different entirely when compared to deja-vu: When we are awake, our conscious is using up around 90-95% of our brain's functionality. Where it is still possible to think and imagine, it's clear to tell what's real and what's in your head. However, when we sleep, nearly all of us for the present time believe the dream is real, because our conscious pretty much slips away entirely, making our imagination go from using 5 percent of the brain to 30-40%. How come it's hard to remember dreams, or sometimes they aren't as clear as they should be? Think of it this way: If you were to only use 30-40% of your brain for consciousness instead of 90-95%, how conscious would you be?

About predicting the future in dreams: Perhaps our imagination takes control - which by the way is far more powerful than consciousness - and is able to just skim along a part of our 4D string or something, I'm not sure, I haven't thought about this nearly as much.

Those are just my theories, and I'm constantly expanding them.

Too bad - I was hoping to fire up my scientific brain for once around here. Anyway, they're still interesting thoughts to ponder about. Do you by any chance know why it is that when you think of something strongly before you go to sleep, or if something has been on your mind a lot, the chance is quite big these things will occur in your dreams that night? I have that, at least. It's also a really nice way to induce happy dreams, if I feel like making the effort to do it. The fun thing is I never know what the dream is really going to be about, but only that it will be based around the theme that I'm concentrating on.

Maybe I should concentrate on Rayman before going to bed tonight... oh, wait - that's impossible; he's always strongly imprinted in my brain -- especially his music.

I think now that I will be having dreams in which I predict what is going to happen, for those things to then later happen within that dream. Sounds like something I would dream of.

Indeed.

Dreams - or your imagination - scoop from the large bin called your memory, and your memory includes anything you've ever sensed and can comprehend. When it picks from your memory, usually it just takes a seemingly random scoop from the bin, especially if nothing significant has happened recently. However, if you are focusing hard on something or a scarring event has occurred, they sit at the top of your memory pile, because they were so significant, and they sit there for a long time, depending on the significance of the event. I have proof of this, because there are actually brain scans that can detect the physical location and intensity of certain memories that appear as colour coded on the result sheet. So when you go sleep and you dream, your imagination takes a scoop out of your memory bin, and if you have significant events or hard-though of things, they surface to the top screaming "pick meeee!!" (like Donkey from Shrek) and will almost be certainly be scooped into the dream.
 
Oh I see. Is that also why dreams are so random sometimes? Why, despite them having no connection at all, two random events may be put together to form one dream?

Is the type of dream also random? I usually find myself - when I remember them - having adventurous dreams; dreams in which I must go on some kind of quest, in which I'm in a haunted mansion of some sort or in which the state of the world as I know it has been completely abolished and revised. Does this say something about my personality, the way I interepret things or my imagination? Does it say something about my ambitions or experiences? This is all quite new to me - and I'd like to learn more; though more than not from someone like you - a person who can tell me what they think it's like in some warm sentences, as opposed to an (albeit interesting and very cool to read) article on a website, displaying only cold facts and theories.

Because like I said, if not enough significant has happened, most of your thoughts are fairly equally distributed (everything you've ever known, sensed and can comprehend), so the scoop picks up a bunch of random crap and shoves it into a dream, sort of like Family Guy.
 
I had a dream last night that I was reading the most sad/adorable fancomic ever...

It was about the story of how young Rayman was actually sent into the world to kill the Magician, but as Rayman gets to know him he ends up learning a lot from him and they become really close friends, so Rayman can't bring himself to kill the Magician.

There was even a part where they where reading a book about magic together. :ouin:

Had a dream the other night where Rayman was caught up in this storm, and then I woke up in the night only to find that there was actually this massive storm outside :shock:.

....and then it kept me up for the rest of the night...
