Drawing Rayman... tips, anyone?
I can't draw Rayman that well. Especially his head and hair, I can never get it right. I also stuff up the shape and proportion of his body quite a bit.
Would someone like to help me?

Re: Drawing Rayman... tips, anyone?
How I draw his head is that I usually start at the top end of his nose, curling down to make his nose so large. I then stroke upwards to form the base of the hair, and continue to draw the split in his left/right (?) flop of hair. I don't connect the far end back to the nose though, I cover that space with his large eyes. This is a terrible description I know but it may help.

Rayman's anatomy... I'll sketch some anatomical guidelines out tomorrow to see if I'm able to help your or anyone who's having trouble with this. I'll also put out an example of how I draw him.

Spanex uploaded a tutorial on deviantART (in ZIP format): link.

Ah, that's a fantastic tutorial! No need for me to do one now.
Re: Drawing Rayman... tips, anyone?
I made this sometime last year. I don't know how useful it will be, but enjoy anyway! (also, I hope you like Rayman 1 style, because I know I do!)

You could also take some concept art from rayman 2 and try to copy that then try to use that to draw your own poses (that's what I did)

Thanks, it really helpedWiiola wrote:Spanex uploaded a tutorial on deviantART (in ZIP format): link.

I took the tip to make each body part roughly the same size. I also used a picture of his RO form from the wiki as reference for the hair, and I was able to shape the head and body better.

Nice improvements, but I know you can do better than that!

He'll get better trust me! (Better than me I know that for sure)
Re: Drawing Rayman... tips, anyone?
It is a good tip. I usually start with Rayman's head, by drawing a circle to try to guide myself in the placement of the eyes. The rest is easier after.ikke471 wrote:You could also take some concept art from rayman 2 and try to copy that then try to use that to draw your own poses (that's what I did)

Am I the only one who doesn't draw "guide circles" and "guidelines" before I draw Rayman's features?

I don't use 'em either... Does that make me a bad drawer (I don't know how to put this different)RayFan9876 wrote:Am I the only one who doesn't draw "guide circles" and "guidelines" before I draw Rayman's features?
Re: Drawing Rayman... tips, anyone?
I used to not to, but I do now. It helps me to maintain the proportions of the features.RayFan9876 wrote:Am I the only one who doesn't draw "guide circles" and "guidelines" before I draw Rayman's features?

Re: Drawing Rayman... tips, anyone?
I doubt it, I think it's just a different approach to drawing. I work with 3D models models and software constantly, so I don't need guidelines to help me visualize how to draw something with proper perspective and proportion.ikke471 wrote:I don't use 'em either...
