Would it be a good idea to replace the current Rayman 3 screenshots with those of the HD version?
If you want my opinion, no. I don't think that would be a good idea.
Edit: Also, there is no computer version, so quality shots of this game would be questionable. :( I have a Roxio Gamecap, so if you guys want somewhat quality shots, I'll be able to provide them.

Allright. Yesterday night I purchased the HD remake of Rayman 3. A great price for the game (90 krones in Sweden). I've already made it to the bog of murk which is quite fast for me as I like to look at the enviroments in the levels. It runs in 60 FPS which looks beautiful but sometimes the graphics get pixelated. I recommend it higly for any Rayman fan that haven't played it in a while. But besides this, I have some minor flaws with it. First, the logo. Why did they change it? The first one was already good enough so I didn't find any reason to change it. The ubisoft logo in the intro was cutted away so you don't heat the beginning of the music. That was bad. The intro had a very nice feeling to it, so i'm dissapointed. And last, half of the sky in clearleaf forest is black. Don't know why. So yeah, that was all I wanted to say.

By the way, I had never played Rayman 3 on a console before, and I find the controls really terrible: how are you supposed to jump while charging your fist if the two buttons are so damn close to each other?
Flexible thumbs are neat.

Absolutely not; have we replaced Rayman 2 screenshots by others from Revolution? It would, however, be great to have screenshots of the same scene from both versions so that people can compare them, and any missing Rayman 3 screenshot can be added from the HD version. The way the wiki illustrates the diversity in the different versions of Rayman 2 and, to a lesser extent, the original game, is a great asset and the same should be done for Rayman 3.

I'm afraid, though, that the only way to get suitable screenshots from Rayman 3 HD is to use a recording device plugged to either a component cable (the five RCA connectors) or an HDMI connector (for Xbox 360 only). The component video signal goes up to 720p, and since it is analog it is free of content protection, such as HDCP with HDMI. HDMI can however be used with the Xbox 360, because it does only encrypt its signal with HDCP when playing movies, not games.

Also, I have corrected your addition to the wiki: there is no contradiction in calling this game Rayman 3 HD, as 720p is the minimum standard for high-definition.

I have a recording device, so I can make screenshots. Albeit not in perfect quality but still much better than what a normal camera can achieve. So if there's any particular screenshot you want, just ask.

Thanks for offering your help! What is your recording device?

Let's give it a try. Could you a screenshot as close as possible to this one? If the quality is suitable, we'll probably need more.

It's called Roxio Gamecapture. I'll get to it immediately after I get home from work.

Edit: See the gif in my sig? I made this using Roxio. It's not the best example out there though.

From what I've read, the Roxio Game Capture will only record in 480p, which will result in insufficient quality.

However, it could be a good compromise for RayWiki until we can get screenshots in 720p, so I'm looking forward to seeing the result!

This is true, but it's possible to convert videos into "fake" 720p, as seen in this video I also made:

But you know, the higher resolution one of those recorders can make, the more expensive they'll be. This one had cost me well up to €100 which is expensive enough to me! I haven't made any screenshots before yet, so who knows if Roxio may capture screens in a higher resolution than videos. We will see.

EDIT:

I made a test screenshot and this is the result.

Please tell me if its good enough!

EDIT2:

For the heck of it, here's the odd colored water people mentioned.

I call it "hippy water". Let's all name it Hippy Falls. Okay? Okay!

Yeah, definitely odd. But certainly not like Tonic Trouble.

Well it's not that bad. We can definitely use these to illustrate the differences with the original version (they won't be marked as meeting the RayWiki quality requirements though). I simply wonder, why are these screenshots 720 x 480? That's not 16:9, does your recording device crop the original image?

Can you still pause the game and rotate the camera to take pictures and get information on enemies in the HD version? I tried every button in the demo but I couldn’t figure out how to get it to work.

No. There's no cropping involved. The device simply captures the screen displayed on the computer software and saves it as a JPEG. Whenever something is saved as higher resolutions or not might depend on what the game supports, but I really have no idea until I try. There are no options whatsoever on screenshotting. So this is the best I can make. Sorry.

First of all, I didn't read all posts.

So, I just watched a trailer that says there are only 7 worlds, what the hell?:

So, this is the exact image you see on your television? That's a rather old one I guess, which may explain the ancient aspect ratio (3:2). Or am I wrong?

My TV is fairly new, measuring 31 inch across the screen, and supports 1080p, so it has nothing to do with TV resolution. According to this page, ( http://forums.support.roxio.com/topic/7 ... esolution/ ) Roxio doesn't make bigger screenshots. The answerer mentions a program that might be able to do so.

As far as I'm concerned I won't be needing this program for personal use as I'm satisfied with my Roxio. But if it's a necessity to you, I'll hold you responsible for getting any malware on my PC! :P

Whoa, due to this crash of the forum, my post about the GBA bonus levels of Rayman 3 got lost.

I should re-type them here, but I also reported that sadly the connectivity between the GC and GBA version of Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc does not unlock 2D Nightmare. I have tried to play every minigame including 2D Madness and nothing else happened. I obviously couldn't play Mad Trax/Wheelis since these require respectively 2 players and 4 players.

However, Sabertooth's post was also lost, if you are reading this please upload the photo again.

Sabertooth showed a photo of a page from the Official Strategy Guide of the game, and it said "2D Nightmare: Complete Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc". It is confusing, because I have the GameCube version complete and nothing happened, I guess it was a mistake from their part.

Sure, I'm doing this by memory:

- There are 10 Bonus levels playable in the GBA version of Rayman 3, when connected to its GameCube version via link cable. Each bonus level is unlocked from every 100 Lum to 100 Lum catched in single-player mode of the portable version. Like this:
  • Bonus 1: 100 Lums
    Bonus 2: 200 Lums
    Bonus 3: 300 Lums
    Bonus 4: 400 Lums
    Bonus 5: 500 Lums
    Bonus 6: 600 Lums
    Bonus 7: 700 Lums
    Bonus 8: 800 Lums
    Bonus 9: 900 Lums
    Bonus 10: 1000 Lums
You have at first Bonus 1 unlocked, but in order to play the next levels, you need to beat the unlocked ones you have.

- The GBA Bonus levels are notably much harder than any of the levels of the portable version of Rayman 3.

- No anthropomorphic living enemies appear. The only living beings that appear as enemies are Black Lums and Sea Urchins.

- Neither Ly nor Murfy appear in the bonus levels.

- The bonus levels are entitled as "Ly's Bonus Levels" .

- There are no cages in the bonus levels.

- There are no Lums in the bonus levels (except for Blue Lums in certain levels, and Red Lums in the last level).

- Although Rayman's lives show up as "x01", the number of lives are unlimited.

- The predominant obstacles of the bonus levels are Helicopter Bombs and Metal Helicopter Bombs.

- The last bonus level is quite interesting, Rayman drives the same flying vehicle of the Heart of the Ancient's in a background of Pirate's Stronghold (Like Razor Slide level for example), with helicopter bombs of both kinds serving as obstacles aswell some wooden pillars. At the end of the level, Red Lums form the word "WOW".

Lastly, I'll try to record video footage of the levels as soon as possible. It is currently impossible at the moment to emulate the process, you really need real hardware and software to do this, so I'll have to use my camera aimed at the Game Boy Advance like I've done to record the 1000th Lum glitch in Rayman 3D for Nintendo 3DS.

Alright, I think I've hit some sort of conclusion: how many people are playing on the PS3 version?

I've so far gotten to The Longest Shortcut on the X360 version, and I've had absolutely no graphical, physical, or game glitches. It's been absolutely perfect. No freezes, no crashes, no oddly coloured water, and no shadow/texture/lighting glitches at all.

I'm starting to think this community is as much of a Sony community as it is a Rayman community. :pfff:

Also, I'll scan the 2D nightmare page.
